This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on Franz Fanon's work, Black Skin, White Masks, and specifically on his comparative discussions of antisemitism directed at the figure of the Jew and anti-Black racism or negrophobia directed at the figure of the Black person. There are similarities and connections between the two dynamics but also some important differences that Fanon highlights

Funnily enough, I saw a clip of a Pro-Hamas demonstrator referencing Franz Fanon's Wretched of the Earth. I know it isn't the same work but it is interesting seeing his work, given the title of the video, being used in an anti-semitic manner.

Interesting. Was this a Pro-Hamas demonstrator or an anti-Israel demonstrator? Because that’s an important distinction.

People use all sorts of philosophers in ways that might go against their works. Nothing new there.

Considering Israel is a settler state, why would they not engage in anti-colonial struggle? And what do you mean “pro-Hamas demonstrator? Is this someone explicitly supporting Hamas, or just someone who doesn’t support Israel? You might want to read Fanon. Decolonization is never nonviolent.

If you want to talk about the history of fine but I refuse to let myself be influenced by a Marxist peddling, imo, the single most odious ideology man has ever conjured.
