@diamonddead8162 ok 100% agree. Name it some kind of pun with American Horror Stories, like "American Scary Stories: The Movie: The Reunion Video" and have the "Scary Movie VI" all in bold. Although to have a title like that, you'd need a premise that goes along with it. Something like the someone is watching a video to review something that happened. Maybe the police oe the news or a group of friends just find the tape. And the tape is the original cast thats still alive getting together for a reunion, and they're all catching up by telling these things that have happened to them since they all last saw each other. Like an anthology, each person will tell their own tale (each could parody a different horror movie), until the end something horrific happens and everyone or almost everyone is killed. Then whomever is watching the tape gets caught up in whatever evil force, and bam.

One point about The Shining: I don't think it's mentioned in the film, but in the book it's revealed that Tony is actually Danny as a young man using his powers to watch over and warn his younger self. So the reason that he knows what is going to happen at the Overlook is simply that those events are in his own past.

In hindsight Rose being just another victim takes away from the most important point of Get Out, the subtle racism of suburban America. Her being just as bad as the rest of the family showed that you always have to keep an eye out. For fuck's sake the opening song was called "Stay Woke" with lyrics including "they gone find you, gone catch you sleeping"
Also, everyone who watched Get Out expected Rose to also be a victim because she's the pretty female lead, by making her just as bad as the rest of the family we got a major subversion of expectations.

4:50 that's an easy explanation. If you hadn't seen this film, the tension is still maxed to 10. You don't think about Leatherface not being right behind her, as you are just focusing on her. So when she gets inside and the dad is helping her out, you see her sit in that chair facing the open door. Now you (like her) are wondering: is Leatherface going to come roaring in at any moment?
You don't know the service station guy is related until he drives her back to the house. If they showed Leatherface do his tantrum, you would lose a lot of the tension of the immediate scene.

The raptors probably jumped overboard and swam back to the island. I dunno. I just know that the T-Rex was indeed a part of the carnage on the ship. A crew member tells Malcolm that it got too much sedative from the darts and to counter it they accidentally turned it into a "locomotive" as Sarah said. Belch, let's just say belch. Besides, the book was written by a man high on coke and coke-a-cola and NO director wants to put the actual book into film...especially the kids 'losing their innocence' and becoming adults. Yes it's indifferent now a days but teenagers only have one thing on their mind in small towns

  • @-desertpackrat

5:20 I already knew that one because 1. I kept saying, the t rex is in the cargo hold, how could he get his big body from there to the bridge deck to eat someone on the radio? And 2. Once I read the book, it mentioned someone looking out towards a boat leaving the island and literally seeing velociraptors on the ship deck, knowing they were too far to call back and they couldn't stop them and had no other boats, and couldn't call the mainland or even warn them.
Btw Jurassic Park and The Lost World is 100% horror if you count the original context of the novels of thise names, and not just the PG-13 adaptation for film lol, most horror novels are softened for film, even Stephen King movies aren't as horrifying as the books, but they still count as horror, and the story is meant to be horror, our world going back tonthe dinosaurs and us going extinct because we effed up. Michael Crichton was a sci-fi horror novelist, he also did Sphere, Congo, and a novel that never got made into film even though they planned it: Prey, about a swarm of nanobots gaining sentience. Among others. Many of his novels are technically horror, and Jurassic Park was way more gorey and vulgar in the novels. Also way more people die who survived in the film, almost everyone dies 😂 But just because the film adjusted that, doesn't make it not a horror, so..

7:54 so you believe what about the ending?
    It's clear. As Louie says.
If your not ready to let go of your time on earth. You're existence. You see demons coming to tear away you're memories. But they aren't trying to hurt you. They are trying to help.
If you're ready to let go of your time here. You see angels come to help you to the other side.
Spoiler on a 30 year old movie.
Hus deceased child. Car accident crosswalk. Is his angel come to escort him to the other side.
    And Jacob finds peace.
Leaving the cut scenes in would confuse the story. Rather then build it.

8:31 i can see why this scene was deleted from Get Out the same way i can understand why they changed the ending from him getting shot to him actually getting away. One of the goals of the film was to subvert some of the tropes and expectations usually seen in films regarding black people. Having a non black savior or victimwould have completely changed that point. And it isnt to say white people are always bad or black people are always innocent. That's an untenable idea. Its that we are always able to emptahize or sympathize with a non minority in American Horror cinema. Removing that redeeming quality gives us a very different tone that we dont see often if ever in American Horror cinema. I dont think the movie was confusing without this deleted scene. It was just different.
