    Sounds good

I would have thought it must have a wet sumping issue to start with, or there wouldn't be room to get an extra 2 litres in it - by the time you've put in the 2.25 litres it holds, it's almost up to the filler neck. The crankcase must have been full.

It had stood idle for quite some time, wet sumped as a result and the owner had just 'topped the oil up' - that basically explains it.

They are MK II Amals. The bike is from about 1978/79.

@@paulhenshaw4514 It's not a 1978 or 1979 model, Triumph were building the T140E then. It looks to me like a 1976 or 1977 T140V Bonneville that's had Amal Mk2 carbs added at a later date. The switch gear is a dead giveaway, The '78 T140E had black switch gear not the polished aluminium ones on that Bonnie.

I said T140V in the title, not T140E, one of which features in one of my more recent videos, by the way. I said 'about' '78/79, but will not argue over a year or two, if I am wrong.

I won't argue the toss over a year or two, it is a T140V and not totally standard. It is not my bike, just one I worked on. More recently worked on and seen in a more recent video I made, is an all original, low mileage T140E
