Bethlehem aren’t satanic. The lyrics mainly deal with suicide and death. Apparently the singer had family and friends die from suicide, drugs and cancer. The tortured vocals are an extreme expression of mental anguish, depression and horror. In that respect the vocals are very appropriate.
The instigators of the whole DSBM scene and the sickest vocals ever recorded. This is the real stuff, man! I also love the latest albums with Onielar. Hail to Bethlehem!
Real good band. As a christian, i say that they’re not satanic. It’s just feelings hard to describe, that even if you are heavy with your faith, you will feel that one moment or another. The inspiration of the lyrics is the problems related with drugs, existential feelings, suicide related experiences and more. The guys on the band talk about that in interviews. The major satanism in black metal is in general bullshit, naive, trying to be edgy, but this kind of expressive art is for real. The only band related to the “depressive metal” that matters for me.
Bands hint at their beliefs in small things. For example u can see the reversed pentagram in their logo.Black metal is after all 100% anti abrahamic
@@rithikremendra9857 No. the guys on Bethlehem already talk on this on interviews. They use this logo more for marketing than anything else. The proper band tries to distance itself for the satanic imagery. Btw, the devil is a character of the christian mithology. So...
Btw, black metal is almost 100% edgelordism. And bethlehem isn’t a “pure” black metal band. Not even today, where they sound more electronic/depressive rock
@@rithikremendra9857 at this point, you re wrong. go listen to unblack metal or the song "the antisatan" from Dark Woods :)
@Guilherme PTP ur comment is totally agreed
Definetly one of my very favorite bands. I've heard a loooot of very disturbing bands and vocalists but Landfermann tops everything. He still sounds authentic eventhough the lyrics are by Jürgen Bartsch the bassist. He manages to create such disturbing images in the head that fits the music very well. I love the way he plays with words a lot. Dude had a really fucked up past
@Simon Achebe Yes Pavor is just awesome. The fact that Landfermann is also insanly good at playing bass is very impressive. He also has a solo project now.
Landfermann’s screams are spine chilling in the best way possible
Silencer as well
@@johnbrown9076 No lol. His vocals are very fake and funny. They make me laugh every time
@@natalie-kj4om to each his, or her, own. But the mental anguish Nattramn was going through makes his vocals that much more chilling imo
One of the best extreme vocalists ever. Pure visceral emotion.
Rainer Landfermann is an amazing vocalist. That's not the only thing he does well though. His bass playing is also excellent. Check out Pavor - Furioso.
His solo album is also quite good.
Rainer Landfermann voice is beastly!
Oh boy, time to listen to some Silencer now! haha
jaja same
I second that!
His vocals are too funny and have less variety. Can't take them serious at all
Bethlehem is much better.
And Shining!
Priceless expressions : D
Love this band. They have Onielar from Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult now, also a cool band to check, but only a live video, to see them in action
Bethlehem has a lot of incredible songs on a lot of incredible albums, and their style is kind of all over the place. This, however, is by far my all-time favorite song of theirs. Props to the gent who requested it. Clearly you have excellent taste.
That is one of the funniest reaction of Vin and Sori lol.
Now it's time to react to Silencer - Death, Pierce Me.
The story around of the vocalist of Silencer is disturbing and his vocals too (is like this but more crazy).
Sterile Nails and Thunderbowels is a classic. I mean yes his vocals are disturbing and borderline comical (truly reminds you of Gollum at times) but set that aside and its some absolutely fantastic music. The main melody lead for that song stays with you.
Silencer’s vocal style is just a bridge to far for me, very comical I can’t help but laugh
More crazy? LOL. It's absolutely NOT.
@@bayusik fake…like every other story about him
The story around him is fake. All fake.
Unnerving is right.
No one is ever prepared for this one.
you really really have to react to darkened nocturn slaughtercult but the live ones to get a full effect Onielar has brought true black metal back to its glory
I would say that german is the best language for black metal
Or Arabic. Didn’t expect it to fit so perfectly with it when I first listened to Al Namrood
silencer - i shall lead, you shall follow
Umm. 😆🤣 In the words of Ace Ventura:
"Alrighty then." Hahaha
This is real BLACK METAL
Wow did not expect this but great pick!!! We still need get the classic, “call from the grave” -Bathory, done
You should give Abruptum a listen.
abruptum DEMO is the best album (tape) i got
Bethlehem is the best kult Band of the fucking World
You should review Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult
landferrman and onielar are two of the most unhinged and visceral vocalists i have ever heard and they both sang for Bethlehem
can we get a react to Abruptum next plz
Bethlehem is fantastic! Dictius Te Necare is incredible! Now please do a reaction for "Tagebuch einer Totgeburt" of the same album.
This is probably the best reaction I've seen so far lol
Damn, it should be "Tagebuch einer Totgeburt"... :P
Rainer Landfermann isn't human
I noticed huge influences form celtic frost and hellhammer, as well as in every other black metal band, but I feel it a lot more present in this song.
8 minute intro is wild.
You can only scream like that if you are possessed by a demon! 😂
Odin also hung on the World Tree for 9 days and nights sacrificed himself to himself wounded by a spear. No bread or drink was given when he then saw the Runes he took them up screaming.
I love this kind of reaction because thats exactly how it went for me aswell, and now i love this album so much
I LOVE THIS ALBUM! LANDFERMANN IS, GREAT!!!
One of the best metal albuns ever. The real deep depression in musical form.
Hahah love your reaction!!! First time it seems like a true and honest reaction and not a preparede video :-D
Please react to "Wer hat Angst vor Einsamkeit?" from "Dornenreich".
Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult - Suitor of Death
Great song and band! When this album came out the vocals literally shivered my spine. I loved it. Only 3 other vocalists have this same insane style: the vocalist on the Deinonychus 1993 demo (Sephiroth), Silencer (Nattramn) and Shining (Niklas Kvarforth). The last 2 are deeply disturbed individuals. There's also a band called Abruptum and the vocalist It does some insane shrieking. They were early 90's.
Its been said many times by now, it wasnt Nattramn who attacked someone but his brother. Him being under psychiatric evaluation seems to be true but little seems to be known about him nowadays.
But for more insight one could listen to his band Diagnose:Lebensgefahr which seem to be released and recorded during his hospitalisation.
But I agree Betlehem and Silencer goes hand in hand if you are looking for something that resembles each other.
But what ever you think of the vocals, Silencers album is an absolute 10/10 musically.
If you want more extreme vocals:
Iannis Xenakis - Ais
Diamanda Galas - Litanies of Satan
Yamanaka Eye (in Naked City and Hanatarash)
Mike Patton ( in Fantomas and in particular John Zorn's Moonchild Project)
I love extreme vocals, I'm from a more avant garde background, so it makes Bethelehem and Silencer stand out to me in particular. Amazing black metal bands in terms of the vocal performances.
Rainer from Bethelehem is a fuckin acrobat.
@@Mindlock I truly fell in love with the Silencer album, once it gets you it becomes addictive to listen to.
I don't have any particular allegiance to DSBM but many of the band's placed under that category impress me a lot (like Leviathan as well)
Onielar is the very true queen of real black metal
You need to hear to some Shining.Nekka Morgondagen is a good one.
it is not black metal it is dark metal!
Correct with the "velt"...nice.
Finally
OMG Finally!
That is one of my all time fav and part of all my mixtapes (together with "schuld uns'res knoch'rigen faltpferd")... did not realize it is kind of far away from metal mainstream... thanks for reminding me... :-D
What a brilliant song. Used to blast it loud long time ago... and still one of my fav.
You would like some Psychonaut 4
MaxthaDemon 4 Quarters or Make Orders...Thanks! Love your reactions
!
hellcome to the raw despair. top of the cake
His vocals remind me a little of Macabre sometimes
haha the looks on their faces when they heard Rainer's vocals. Classic. I'll say this is not to my taste (vocally). Though I do like more recent Bethlehem with Onielar on vocals (Yvonne from Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult, an awesome band in their own right). Lyrically and musically this is great though. This vocal style obviously highly influential to alot of DSBM metal bands, I dunno if thats how I would categorize this, but a very important and influential band regardless.
Great reaction, guys! React to "Conquer Death" from Sacrament, a 90's thrash metal band. The vocals are brutal!!!
Opeth - Godhead's Lament
Wow wow Nice!
And this is the first track of the album... haha. I remember the first time I listened to Betlhehem, maybe 15 years ago and it was this album and therefor this music, I was shocked.
Ah very nice :) Now some Lifelover/Psychonaut4/Silencer would be nice to hear haha
I watched a lot of your videos reacting to more tame, classic stuff but when I saw the title of this one I was like... Oh. Oh no...
the first time is...... hahaha
You have to react to SILENCER -sterile nails and thunderbowels 😬
The, Circle of the Hanged one could also be Odin/Wothan as well
ROTTING CHRIST - Daimonon vrosis.-
Could you do a react for Dodsferd: To The Fall of Man please?
Good call, unexpected.
Alexanderwelt*
We like compoundnouns.
excenlent !!!!
hopefully they'll do some Lifelover
React to "dorn meiner allmacht" it's my bethlehem favorite song from the same album and it is the beginning of "suicidal black metal" atmosphere.. that's a great reaction, greetings from Mexico. 🤘
Her face LOL LOL LOL
Satanism isn't evil, it's funny. If you want to really shock your senses listen to Malvery's Mortal Entrenchment In Requiem. It's one of the few albums I can honestly describe as spooky.
Bethlehem aren’t satanic.
they arent even satanic lmao
I once listened to this album while on a bender. Would not recommend.
This song was inspired by nightmare the frontman hand (they later made a double concept album with the same name as this song). The frontman also lost his best friend to an OD when they were in the same room together.
Bethlehem were set to headline Maryland death fest because they are one of the best. No songs sound the same. That's the problem with most bands today. They all sound the same and their songs almost all sound the same. The bands i listen to don't fit on that category. My friends send me songs and most really suck.
Oh, finally some real raw BM :)
Bethlehem - Schuld Uns'res Knöch'rigen Faltpferd's
Abruptum - De Profundis Mors Vas Cousumet
I remember the first time back around 1999 when i first heard this band. I was watching the movie Gummo and the song Schuld Uns'res Knöch'rigen Faltpferd jumped in and i pretty much shit my pants. Rainer Landfermann is one helluva vocalist. There has been a few copycats after him. I have to say Tony Särkkä who went by the name IT formerly of Abruptum was great too.
That looks like Spanish not German.
He is singing in German, but the subtitles are the Spanish translation.
Those lyrics you see on the screen are the subtitles, dude.
Thanks. I'm old and all I could hear was unintellagable screeching .
@@jeffreycummings2769 Which is actually very wrong. That translation is crap.
Only 5000 view's, unbelievable
When hot Wings video?
Trouble on the Rise by Blacktop Mojo
Kreator - Enemy of god
Pay 125$ or it won't happen
It's just stupid to comment it on the same video cause the won't do it for free no matter how many times you ask for it
Oh my gosh, why did you did this,...
Warum tut ihr euch das an...
It's a female
Who? The singer? If you mean him, it’s Rainer Landfermann
Funeral Mist!
Most disturbing vocals I've heard are nattramn from silencer there's rumors that he actually self harmed to get the sound
The singer committed suicide a year later. Hmm.... Had the Cd as one of the first ones and I never heard that voice again. Today Betlehem has a singer who lives up to the album and she is a woman :)
That ain’t true at all. Landfermann is still around. He put out a solo album about 2 years ago or so
god, this shit was so boring. and I am depressive lol
no one cares dude go back and listen to your shit
it has more circus sounds than a serious metal band. hahah sound full of ideas from novices
