Yes, though they do eat pretty much whatever they can reach, from on the ground to trees. It would be a good idea to have a platform with a wide feeding bowl or a bucket just for Carl in each pasture area, each with a different food maybe or small amounts in each. Or maybe like a hay net, or some sprigs tied together hanging, like the greens from fresh veggies or roots.
He is starting to settle in. I think he really likes being a little, and having a bunch of friends. He wasn't even scared when Aunt Lydia's mob squad, and the Top Gun boys cut loose.
Or I think it's for balance especially when he runs because he's so tall and round in the middle. He's redistributing his weight for balance. Just a thought...

FYI....I saw a video of a woman who rescues Ostriches and she said they are unpredictable. I'm just putting this out there to keep you all safe. She said if he comes after you being mean to either drop to the ground and stay there or hold your hand up to him (in his face) until he walks away. That video of her ostrich was a little scary but she NEVER backed down and said to never, basically let an Ostrich get the best of you. Hope he stays just like he is with you all and never gets mean with anyone. Love you all God bless ❤
I've seen that video too she had two if its the same one & as she was walking away they were attacking her. She kept putting her hand up & pushing him away. Then another time he was so loving wanting cuddles etc. But Carl don't seen that way at all. 😯❤

Hang a bucket 🪣 on the fence so he can eat out of it and the Littles want get His Grains Food like some strawberries 🍓 and grapes watermelon 🍉 different kinds of lettuce 🥬 and sunflower seeds. Just a thought. And some blueberries 🫐 and blackberries and Bananas 🍌 in the bucket just for him.
Lester u could use the buckets u got for the corner stalls on the corner fences just a thought. And he can see it up his level and only feed him at those spots every time.

Lester is such a huge guy. 6.2 feet! A formerly football player with muscles, big chest, wide shoulders, massive skeleton.. meet him on the street he looks not easy to handle. The most Morrow men look like wrestlers. But they are soft like a marshmallow. 😊
I love that he is getting so close to you! The images you can now capture are amazing! I can appreciate the eyelashes now...I can really get a feel for his textures. That neck! The wings! The floppy white feathers near his "wrist" area remind me of lacy handkerchiefs. Really, seeing him so close up through your camera , I appreciate his beauty and personality.
Ostriches eat roots, flowers and they love fruits. They also eat insects and lizards and little turtles and stuff. They are beautiful birds and Carl seems very friendly.

The first day Carl was there it was hysterical how all the farm animals stood there frozen staring at Carl like what in the world is that! Even Ringo didn't do his head butting nonsense!Carl is a Cutie, if I were going to feed him, I would either feed him off of a cutting board, or feed him smaller bite size chunks out of a big shallow bowl! Even though Carl is a big Bird, his mouth and throat aren't very big to eat whole baby carrots!💗

They never eat large amounts at a time. They just nibble all day, an elevated feeding platform out of the reach of the others is what's needed 🇦🇺👍
There are no platforms for ostriches in the wild. They bend down and get their food naturally.
