This is hell of a lot of effort and faff, fighting against DayZ mechanics, trying to force it to do things it wasn't designed for (platforming !), for basically what ends up being a 'prize' of just an average one tapper sniper rifle - that you're going to lose to some freshie with a MkII pistol as soon as you get out !
You do have a point. But it is the modding community (and in particular, the map creators) that have helped to keep this game alive for a so long. I'd also say, as it is with most things in life, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey! This is a pretty tough challenge and is fun to do with friends. It's a nice change to have a goal beyond get geared/kill/die/explore. I think the whole thing is really well crafted by what is essentially one man. He's also done a more PvP focussed map (Alteria) which is currently being play tested. Worth checking out.
Think you’re looking at it wrong man. Deer Isle as a whole breathes so much life into DayZ and honestly, I feel the Quests/Storyline thing he’s got going on here harks back to a much better time in gaming. When there would be intricate secrets and all kinds of hidden things to do in games, rather than developers scraping by on content. Battlefield 4, a later game for sure but I recall the Phanton Bow, while it was just a bow, the secret hints people followed to figure out to get it were absolutely nuts and it was an incredible challenge that was worth it simply for being the challenge it was. That being said, this map is still being updated and developed and he totally might add some insane reward at the end. But go ahead and tell me what makes more sense than a 1-tap rifle as secret end game loot in DayZ lol.

Good video man! I will also give you a tip, in settings just turn off/on HUD in the 1st settings page, it will debug the blood and also your hotbar can be fixed, if its not showing

So, does the old teleport circle not work or does the stag grenade take you to a different temple? Just wondering as the server I have been playing on with intention of doing the quest has added sharks so that you cannot swim between islands. It makes diving for the staff impossible.
The old teleport circle still works as far as I know. It just doesn't take you straight to the new underground section where the handle is. You may well be able to get down there. Sort of run the path in reverse of how it runs in this video. But I haven't tested this, so I can't guarantee it's possible. I'd speak to the server owners/mods on their discord and ask them. Maybe they haven't thought it through with the quest line in mind. Or maybe they have tested reverse path or modded the server so the hammer isn't split? You'd have to ask them.
Haha i fell down that trap leading to the temple never found my way back up got lost for another hour after l, thats when i gave up and found you what a star tho now im learning about a hammer i new nothing about and its in three peices lol guess ill geth the head first then the handle and i need that staff too i have the gas things multiple of them this is beginning to be alot off work lol
If you're in the temple area and you can get your hands on the handle and head of the hammer, then you don't need the staff really. I'm just not 100% it's possible to get to the underground temple part (where 1 half of the hammer lives) without the staff. I'd be genuinely curious to know if it's possible though.
I saw somewhere in the north of the swamp marked as an entrance to the temple (which also said nothing about needing the smoke grenade thing or the staff), I'm assuming that's the physical entrance you said may be added later..? New to deer isle and it's hard keeping track of the dozens of iterations
@berdyderg900 yeah. The quest lines major change came about 6 months or so back. I made an old video for that and the entrance is in the swamp ruclips.net/video/71-1cNWVqFI/видео.htmlsi=cECHg1fjmBPJWHHv I think the teleport altar still works the same. But the underground temple part is only accessible (as far as I know so far, anyway) with the new smokey staff. As I always say though, if you discover a way to the handle/underground temple without the staff, then that's a massive shortcut and I'd be keen to hear it. Until then, this video, step by step, should show you a way that works.
The server I play on has the full built hammer in the temple through the teleporter above RCFI I got it yesterday and did the ice temple place was good fun and well for this server it was a shit show was using 408cheytac variant guns and blew through 100rounds was just packed with stag zombies was still fun tho can't do any of the diving stuff on this server the tanks full only last ten seconds
@canabis2crush543 sounds like the server owner made an easy edit. Just switched the spawn of the handle for that of a full hammer. The diving tank "out of the box" needs the server owner to set how long you get for air in the tank. Otherwise, it only lasts 10secods. I'm not sure if that was changed in the latest patch, as there were diving changes in the patch notes. So it sounds like instead of doing the tank change, your server just made the old way work again. As a general rule, I only make videos for "vanilla" versions of these modded maps. Otherwise, with all the tweaks people make, I'd probably need to make 100 vids on the same quest line. I also happen to personally believe that the the quest line from JMC works great as it is. Long winded and hard. But it's kind of supposed to be, ya know?
ive been trying this quest solo for about a week, i got the scuba but it had slots for a snorkel and flippers or some sht lol are those parts necessary?
Not really. The flippers help you swim faster. The snorkel allows you to dive close to the surface. In the vid, it shows what I think is the quickest way to find a crate. But it does sort of depend on the server, as the diving tank capacity is set by the server. I'd get used to diving controls and test tank capacity somewhere near the shore first. Or check your servers discord. You do need to remember to fill the tank though (also in the vid)
if you throw that stag grenade and get teleported to temple, you have to take the hammer handle right away, because I logged off after teleporting to that area and when I logged in another day, there was no zombies and no hammer handle, so I am fvckd right now...maybe good idea is take hammer handle, log off so zeds will dissappear and log in
It could be that someone else took it. Or it hasn't detected your spawn. I suspect if you wander and log long enough, they mall all spawn in. But I can't be sure. The servers can all be different when it comes to loot economy though, try the discord of the server and ask an admin the question if just walking about and logging in every now and then doesn't work. This guide is based on the "vanilla" version of Deer Isle and some servers really play bout with it. Some have even done away with the two part hammer all together. Discord is your friend. Good Luck!
Why not just play the map as intended and fight or sneak past the zombies? Combat logging against NPCs I guess doesn't negatively affect other players but it is wildly pathetic

@user-vf9ie9pi3y the slightly different (but very similar looking) grenade is probably the one that spawns in 3 zombies in a cloud of smoke. It's the specific numbered one seen in the crater you want. I had a bit of a shock throwing the wrong one the first time......
Now that I've spent a bunch of time looting this bunker it seems like the faster way to complete the quest is skipping this facility entirely and just using the swamp portal..? Deer isle, while pretty, has some insanely bad decision making involved lol
So you used to be able to do that. Since they split the hammer in two, getting to the underground temple to get the handle piece is the issue. Not that I've spent much time testing thoroughly, but it seems that doing the path from the underground area to the outside island (and then bear temple) in reverse won't be possible because of some high drops that wouldn't likely be climbable in reverse. I'd like to see someone do it though. I think I'd probably make a "Shortcut" Vid if I ever see someone do it. But so far, I haven't. Some servers have simplified the quest though, so the hammer remains where it was and in one piece. Which is cool. But it isn't what the quest is supposed to be as designed.
The "Vanilla" version of Deer Isle, as delivered by the creator, has the gas zones removed as seen in the vid. Server owners can chose to pop them back in though, so I suppose it depends where you play.

As far as I can tell, that's right. It may be possible to take the swamp way and get down to the underground area, but some serious testing is needed before we can say definitively. I think this is the what JMC is leading us towards though. I think I read that there are still a few adjustments planned by the creator and he seems to be closing loop holes.
To be fair, it is fairly tough. I think the STAG infected are the hardest part, as you need buckets of ammo to kill all the ones you encounter in the temple. I think JMC himself has said that they will be tweaked (Nerfed, I presume) in the next update.
@cs-cl9qs The jumps are daunting when you've spent hours getting to that point. But in isolation, they are fairly straightforward. Traveling light (ish) and having a little more stamina to play with helps. The ones that lead up from the underground temple are really easy. They just feel really dodgy as you pretty much have to walk off the edge and press jump just as you do. Best of luck with it!

This two part series is the most recent update of the "quest line" by JMC. I think he has a massive change yet to come too with the next update. Although I have no idea when that will be finished. There are servers that still have the hammer on once piece. Which makes it a fair bit easier. So it does depend on the server. But as it stands, as released by the creator, this is how you can reliably get the hammer.
@@TedAndTrev hard to explain in words, but some parts in the old temple you could have done without triggring the wolfs for example and in the new part of the temple theres a way to get to the handle by walking across the leaned pillar, includes only 2 jumps, less chance of falling into the water.
I think it's over an hour. But I'm not sure if server owners can adjust that at all. I'm pretty sure it makes a loud siren sound again before it closes though.
90 minutes, I saw this on a book I found in KMUC, and by experience it's true. But sometimes when the server restarts it appears to close quicker. not sure

It says on the facility wall next to where you scan the purple keycard, it's set by server owners but default is 90 mins with a 5 minute warning both before opening and closing
You said there might be an alternate way into the underground temple that's yet to be discovered. Yet you escaped from it, so couldn't you use that way to get back in? Lol
I suspect that some of the areas where you have to jump down may not be so easy when trying to jump back up. I've not tested the route in reverse yet though. It may well be possible. But until it's been tested, it's not a valid route in my book. Go test it though man! Report back if it can be done in reverse!
13:33 If you could place a climbable object that is twice your height at the bottom of this drop, you could do it in reverese, but that would only be possible with a furniture mod.

The namalsk quest line is the single sickest part of DayZ imo and this is all true of it as well, the point is that did something very difficult

Have they removed the Gas zones from the rigs now? Or do I still need NBC gear?

Seemingly random. It took 3 crates before I found it. There's always nice loot in the crates though, which is some consolation I suppose.

Yeah, 90 feels about right. Those books have some cool lore stuff in them. Loads of nice little details on the map.
@@TedAndTrev I was thinking they'll help a lot for the quests but not very much. Yes it's more on the lore. I'd like to do quest without youtube help but it's quite hard, I've not a high level on this game
It says on the facility wall next to where you scan the purple keycard, it's set by server owners but default is 90 mins with a 5 minute warning both before opening and closing
You said there might be an alternate way into the underground temple that's yet to be discovered. Yet you escaped from it, so couldn't you use that way to get back in? Lol
I suspect that some of the areas where you have to jump down may not be so easy when trying to jump back up. I've not tested the route in reverse yet though. It may well be possible. But until it's been tested, it's not a valid route in my book.
Go test it though man! Report back if it can be done in reverse!
13:33 If you could place a climbable object that is twice your height at the bottom of this drop, you could do it in reverese, but that would only be possible with a furniture mod.
