I’m still loving my 2017 ATS-V A8 sedan. I’ve done a intro to performance driving at COTA and the car was awesome! I’ve also done a track intro class at a local track and it too was an awesome experience. I plan on keeping the car until I die!
Not understanding the poor comments regarding the interior. Get into the ATS and then go immediately and get into and M4 and C63. Don't fool yourself. The only Mercedes and BMW that has a true quality interior are the S class and 7 series. At the price point you are correct that it should come with bi-xenon headlamps, but look at how many standard features from other manufacturers are missing from Mercedes and BMW. They are still living off of brand name, not so much quality. Again, don't take my word for it go and take the time to sit in and drive all of them. Touch the materials over the entire interiors and then make a true and informed judgement.
The interior isn't absolutely terrible, but it's just too "Cadillac" for me. The gauge cluster does not match the car. The seats are amazing, but that's about it. The rest of the interior is just GM parts bin and does not carry itself well. It would have been so much nicer if they offered different color options, but from my knowledge, only black is available. I just wish they took the gorgeousness of the exterior and put it on the inside.
High five bro. For those of you who never owned or driven a Cadillac please stfu. Okay now that we got that out the way. The Cadillac brand is all about bang for buck and it achieves that. One thing I can tell you is that you get a lot of looks and interior/exterior options for way less than it's competitors. It's not made to be the best brand for luxury. It's made to be a damn good luxury bargain for less than Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc. I love my CTS vsport and I actually take pride in sharing parts with Corvettes and Camaros. They trickle the performance a little to maintain luxury standards and price point, but it's nothing excessive. I think these cars look sexy as fuck period. I also love how easy it is to find parts and how cheap it is to repair. These are things that should definitely be considered by consumers.
Y'all are judging an all black spec which usually doesn't show the beauty of most cabins. There are bountiful interior options on these Cadillacs. My favorite combos are the triple black diamond exterior with the Cona interior, the tri coat pearl white with beige and the grey exterior with red interior or cona. Black wheels also help or that brushed grey alloy on the Vsports. I still don't think CUE should be heavily disliked, it's more of just what ppl hear and repeat, but there really isn't much wrong with it. It's a very simple and easy infotainment system.
Marlo Ck literally it’s so old that they remind me of those old beemers from the 90s! That’s the only reason besides reliability that I won’t get a German car. And definitely not a beemer or Audi.
Honestly people don’t get to say it drives like a modern BMW. No it drives like a caddy. Cadillac has their own ride style. And their own suspension. It drives like a Cadillac should. Plush. But perfect.
You can tell where most of the R&D money went into, and that's the drivetrain. You're paying more for the performance to beat the Germans and not the interior.
Totally agree on those gauges. They look like they belong in a rental car. They certainly don't belong in a $75k super sedan... why can't GM get these little details right? They always miss the quality mark on interiors. That said, I want this car anyways
i like how everyone in these comments is whining about the interior on a performance sport sedan. this is why bmw still gets money even though they're getting beaten at every turn in performance and their entire lineup is numb, heavy, boring boats. give it a few years and cadillac will be even further ahead on performance, while people keep whining about "oh but there's plastic there!!!!"
+Felix Kube It doesn't matter what it looks like to you, you think your sister is attractive. The reality is that most people who've driven the ATS and its competition believe the ATS has the sportiest driving feel.
+Jalin Fuller BMW was being beaten when they were building true driver's cars, but then they started making their cars heavier, they eliminated beautiful cars like the 8 series, they introduced "Sport Activity Vehicles", they started making their cars more numb, more soft. Well, now they're no longer being beaten.
So I guess cars don't come in specific classes anymore or are you that much of a fan boy that logic fails you? The Germans have held the market tightly for luxury sedans for quite a long time, of course they need to be mentioned because guess what, everyone is still buying them over the Caddys..the Americans and Japanese use German sedans as benchmarks for any model introduction/major update, I wonder why...by the way, you should look at Caddy's sales, they are quite behind in virtually every class of vehicle that they sell, even behind some of the Japanese luxury brands.
+Hakeem Kazak Yeah man the Germans are better and are the the kings idk why Cadillac is even trying its pretty cleat that BMW and MB are the only onses succeeding in this market
YES.. about time I hear your opinion on this. Its too bad there not selling that well, that is the regular ATS & CTS. Im sure the Vseries will do very well.

+Ross MK That's what we were thinking too! However, you're really just paying $5000 for the carbon fiber package and $1250 for the performance data recorder and that's how much Cadillac charges a la cart for each item.
I was just in this very exact car down to the color... The car is beautiful and does everything great. ... I would like to see nicer gauges though. ... Absolutely a very nice car.
The doors don't have that solid thud because the windows are lowered when opening and closing like in the '14 Stingray my son and I recently drove while on vacation. We actually both like my ATS-V better. The Vette was great (those tall fenders!) but getting in/out was a dog.
Would it really have cost GM that much money to have redesigned the instrument cluster a year or two ago, before the ATS-V came out? I don't understand why its not a full LCD display.
The ATS was, and still is a great sedan. However, it's little things like the gauge cluster that make a difference (especially when they're right in front of the potential customers' eyes when they sit inside). The ATS has had an exterior refresh (2015), technology refresh (2015), addition of the coupe (2015), a powertrain refresh (2016), and the addition of the V model. You would think that they would have at least fixed the gauge cluster. Almost every reviewer that drives the ATS doesn't like them, so Cadillac definitely knows it's a problem. In my opinion, I don't think the gauges look that bad. They're easy to read and I like the dark blue lighting. They just don't belong in an $80,000 car. Maybe for the $33,215 base model they would be okay, but for the higher trim levels, it should have a better layout. Especially on the V, Cadillac needs to have the digital gauge cluster as standard equipment.
I can't disagree. Cadillac in general is one of my all time favorite car companies. Especially since the introduction of the Art & Science design language on their concept cars. It just really sucks to know that they're losing potential sales over something so "insignificant to them" as their interior bits. I'll be the first to admit though that their interiors aren't that nice. The center stack photographs well but the touch points(window/lock buttons) are so cheap to me, even on the CT6. I personally can't stand the dull, black plastic buttons/column stalks. Even at 33K materials/finishes like that do not belong in any luxury brand product. I honestly would not be mad if Cadillac copy and pasted the C/S-Class interior if it meant a richer environment in the cabin. And they really do need to up all their standard equipment on every model.
Two things here. I've test driven the ATS-V and the Audi S6 - If you compare interiors they are WORLDS apart while they are peers in price. Cadillac needs to step up their interior game.
I completely agree with your assessment about the xenon headlights...ALL caddys should come standard with either xenons or LED headlights...even a corolla has LED headlights standard.....
Two months ago me and my test drove a 2017 Cadillac ATS Sedan Luxury with the 2.0 Inline 4 turbo with the 8 speed auto transmission yes they did switch the auto transmission to a 6 speed to a 8 speed. With AWD. Very good car we did test out the Cadillac Cue it seemed to work fine and well. And i know that Cadillac has been working on the cue system to improve it and make it better. And the car drove nice. Only bad thing is even that it is a sedan the back seats are kind of a joke. Cuz they are a bit on the small size and the ceiling kind of hangs low. Other then that the car was very nice.
Pretty much like a plush Camaro. Same chasis, mag-ride, dual-mode exhaust. Equivalent drivetrains - Caddy has 12 more HP, 10 fewer ft/lbs. (I'd like to try that V6TT in a Camaro)
I agree. Camaro should put a TTV6 in the base model and even do a ZL1 in a turbo configuration. My Silverado with a single 78mm turbo is an absolute beast at 600whp the camaro would be a blast!
Did anyone notice that the Cue system has hand recognition when he waved his hand over the radio screen. The screen popped up with buttons to press on the screen. 😭
RAJohnson713 the turbo doesn't mind, just puts more load than anything else you can do with the car, on the power train. it initiates maximum boost and maximum combustion in the engine and then binds the motor through a torque converter and the transmission to the rear wheels which won't spin so if the maximum possible load you can put on the transmission with the motor putting out as much horsepower as possible and the wheels taking as much power as possible to turn. I won't blow the motor up or anything like that but it's not good and if you have any weed components in your car or it's compromised in other ways that's definitely the scenario and what you might cause that component to fail.
While I agree the interior is not what it could be neither is the cookie cutter German approach where very single model in a line looks the same, also not the greatest and I own a 2016 BMW X3 35i Msport loaded. That said much of the whining about cue is pretty ridiculous, it actually works quite well and who is really playing with any of the options in the control stack while they drive, most usually set what they want and drive...that said the power and handling of this car really puts some serious hurt on the M3/4...all together this is a solid offer from Cadillac and yes, it would be a good thing to see a deserving guage display, but given the value of this vehicle I for one am prepared to eat that deficiiency.
Auto sets a higher than usually fan speed which can be annoying for certain people. Usually instead of adjusting temperature first, it adjusts fan speed thinking that they are equivalent, because the engine hasn't heated up enough, or because AC takes a little while to start pumping cold air. The system is flawed, it's more enjoyable to have lower fan speed (and desired temperature setting), and just wait a bit longer for the unit to kick on, or engine to heat up.
Quick/interum gauge fix: grab the one from Camaro - a turbo-4 will have the boost gauge already. Farther down the road, I'd like to see Cadillac with a configurable cluster like Mustang's - like to see it in Camaro, too. Oh, and how 'bout a HUD? I LOVE it in my Camaro SS.
I'm only one minute into this review, but I will make this guess regardless. Comment if I'm wrong. But let me guess, Sofyan is going to complain about CUE, and will think the exhaust isn't loud enough. I love his reviews though.
+Elliott Manning And the cue nowhere near as bad as they say and when he was using it looked very functional too me. Interior was pretty good to me when I sat in one
Vernon Price Yes, among other things, as do most people. The Cadillac is not a supercar after all, so the impracticalities commonly found in supercars aren't acceptable here. I should remind you that you gain exactly nothing justifying their stupid design decision like that.
Vernon Price That's what I said, but I never said it was the only criterion. I just never mentioned my other criteria. Suppose my perspective is neither rational nor representative of the majority. That still doesn't give you license to argue my personal preferences, because I don't go out telling anyone what to buy or not to buy based on it. You're the one who has to get over yourself. My reality is mine. It's not necessarily inline with yours or anyone else's, thus I don't have to hold the same opinions and preferences as you (or anyone else). The fact that there is an increasing number of cars being offered without spare tire doesn't make such omission beneficial to consumers in general or, specifically, me. We can't conclude something is the right thing because it's the more common thing now or then. We base that conclusion on cause and effect. My life will be much easier if I have a spare when one of my four tires goes flat, thus the need for the inclusion of a spare tire for my next car. You have zero authority to dictate me, or anyone else, on that matter.
+Mouldy CPU A 1996 Dodge Caravan with rust has a spare tire. Perfect vehicle for you as this Caddy is totally useless as you claim. Forget the insane power to displacement ratio, the magnetic ride that Ferrari wants to use now, the solidity and the fun factor. THE SPARE TIRE IS WHERE IT'S AT!
18" does seem small for styling these days, when some small hot hatchbacks come with 20" wheels. But it's good they are forged and lightweight and Caddy is focusing on performance over looks.
nice review. based on this and other reviews, seems like a great car overall, let down by a few faults, mostly in the dash design, especially CUE which everyone seems to hate, but not deal breakers. some complain about engine sound, but i think it sounds good.
I hopped in one of these at a dealership the other day, the video doesn’t do justice on how much of a letdown that gauge cluster is. The rest of the interior I did like though.
Bro it sounds like when you’re speaking you’re running out of time do you even catch your breath? Seems your rushing. Love the video that damn slow down
ATS has way better interior then BMW 3 or 4 series or Mercedes AMG C-class, and I don’t care what those paddle shifters or turn signals look like when most of the time I don’t even look down there. And it looks pretty awesome for Titanium shifters as well as everything else on the dash
+Adan Juarez It depends on where you live. If you are in the US the Cadillac ATS-V is a no-brainer. It matches the M4 for performance and it is also better value and is fully supported in America not so much in Europe. If you live in Europe go for the BMW. M4 better sound is artificial and not really better at all. A standard ATS is also a very good car at half the price. Go drive one to see what you think.
That is stupid that it doesn't have standard HID or LED headlights. Had low beam HID's on my first Acura in 2001, the CL Type S. Then I had full HID's on my Acura TL, and loved the lights.
After looking at this a second time, I wish Cadillac speedometer gauge was the tachometer since the speed is digital readout and the gauge speedometer was on the left...
Ive driven the ATS and didnt seem to find much difference between sport and touring. Ive also driven a 328 and notice huge differences between sport comfort and eco. Maybe it's a cadi thing?
+Riding With Jahv The ATS-V has magneride adaptive magnetic suspension, which means the shocks are continually adapting to road surfaces, and different modes like touring and sport are more like stiffness ratios. Since the shocks are adaptive to road conditions, even in sport mode the ride can still be very good and soak up bumps, but it will still be noticeably stiffer through turns than in touring mode. That's what makes the suspension so good in these cars.
Really like the CTS-V, not so much of the ATS V it just looks to boy racerish and it's hard to be sold on it when the Camaro SS is significantly cheaper and performs just as good. Haven't driven a V, but I did test drive a 2.0T ATS a year back and though the driving dynamics and performance were good, it was the many little negative things that added up that made me dislike it.
I don't understand how you can say the cars interior feels cheap? The car has constantly been praised for its materials....as for the driver stalks....lol.....pretty sure the germans make theirs out of plastic to, its nothing special....why is it so hard for people to be objective?
#savethemanuals the auto Rev matching and no lift off throttle shift could get more people into manual cars, if it was only implemented into some cheaper Cars from other makers
+Taylor Montgomery BMW have lost there way and are not the car they once were. Do not get me wrong they are a very nice car and a nice sharp drive. But they in recent years have lost their desirability. There move to turbo is part of this. This review may also struggle to source BMW's in North America as well for reviews.
Sebastian Rosenberg I know what you mean. The 4 door version of this is sort of like a 4 door corvette so good for people like me who need the back seats. It's not quite the corvette experience but it gets close to the mark with performance and feel

Snow tires...
I want this car now!
Did anyone notice that the Cue system has hand recognition when he waved his hand over the radio screen. The screen popped up with buttons to press on the screen. 😭
Best reviews out here. Only Channel I use! keep up the great work man
I'm not into Cadillac gotta admit this atsv here is badd ass 🔥
The seats are sixty foldy! very nice!
Isn't it bad practice to floor it at 6th gear especially with these types of engines?
Yeah I think it is, it puts stress on the turbo
+RAJohnson713 it puts stress on the whole engine
Hermit527 you are right, called "lugging the engine".
I love the way u said "you can hide some uhhh.... Some stuff back there" xD
No, don’t floor it in 6th gear, it’s turbo, ull blow the engine out putting that much pressure in a high gear, downshift don’t be lazy
Nice review. the Hi-Po Turbo V6 sounds good.Do you think the Camaro will get this engine?
One very common adjustment to make is changing the temperature while driving. The fact that these have capacitive buttons is just maddening.
VanillaCracker More common is to just hit auto and forget about adjusting anything in regards to temp
FINALLY SOMETHING EXCITING TO ACTUALLY WATCH
Wait until you see our full review on the 2016 Camaro SS. We'll give you a hint, we preferred it over the ATS-V ;)
+Redline Reviews Oh damn I can't wait now!!!
No Nope yes yep
I'm only one minute into this review, but I will make this guess regardless. Comment if I'm wrong. But let me guess, Sofyan is going to complain about CUE, and will think the exhaust isn't loud enough. I love his reviews though.
+Elliott Manning Oh yeah, he will say something negative about the gauges. Everyone does.
+Elliott Manning And the cue nowhere near as bad as they say and when he was using it looked very functional too me. Interior was pretty good to me when I sat in one
Excellent review as always :)
I was considering to get one of these, but the Absence of a spare tire just kills it. Good review.
+Mouldy CPU You base car purchases on whether it has a spare tire or not? Get a fucking minivan then.
Vernon Price
Yes, among other things, as do most people. The Cadillac is not a supercar after all, so the impracticalities commonly found in supercars aren't acceptable here. I should remind you that you gain exactly nothing justifying their stupid design decision like that.
Vernon Price
That's what I said, but I never said it was the only criterion.
Djonkie Bonk
There are many alternatives in the same price bracket that provide a spare tire. Even if there were none, I could get a four-door sedan.
those rims look exactly like 2013-2015 accord sport rims
18" does seem small for styling these days, when some small hot hatchbacks come with 20" wheels. But it's good they are forged and lightweight and Caddy is focusing on performance over looks.
Nice. Great quality. Dude stop being to picky you're not a car designer. I love the Lexus FC 500 V8..
This car looks great for a caddy
looks more like nova or Maryland then DC. some nice curvey roads in that area. but the TRAFFIC. FUG that traffic.
nice review. based on this and other reviews, seems like a great car overall, let down by a few faults, mostly in the dash design, especially CUE which everyone seems to hate, but not deal breakers. some complain about engine sound, but i think it sounds good.
I hopped in one of these at a dealership the other day, the video doesn’t do justice on how much of a letdown that gauge cluster is. The rest of the interior I did like though.
Bro it sounds like when you’re speaking you’re running out of time do you even catch your breath? Seems your rushing. Love the video that damn slow down
Do you know if this engine is the same engine in the XTS V-Sport?
did u like this car is it worth buying? can you please review the new cadiliac xt5 crossover suv thanks
Good review!
Nice review.Thx, Kevin
Another great video.
ATS has way better interior then BMW 3 or 4 series or Mercedes AMG C-class, and I don’t care what those paddle shifters or turn signals look like when most of the time I don’t even look down there. And it looks pretty awesome for Titanium shifters as well as everything else on the dash
Does this car do the typical AMG and M stock pops and bangs?
This car would be damn near perfect if it had the digital guages
Sofyan with the fast and furious shifts lol
Sounds way better then a m4 but I'm not sure wether I want to get this ATS or the m4. Decisions decisions
Have you heard the M4 in person? It sounds nuts. I'm a huge fan of the V8 M3 E92, and the new M4 is a close second for me in terms of sound!
+Adan Juarez
It depends on where you live.
So wish I could afford this car.
That is stupid that it doesn't have standard HID or LED headlights. Had low beam HID's on my first Acura in 2001, the CL Type S. Then I had full HID's on my Acura TL, and loved the lights.
I agree, Sofyan regarding the parts bin sharing on stalks and blinkers.
C'mon, GM. Step up your game ....
I think the stalks comment was nit-picking. These are the same as in a Camaro. They do the job, and do it well - solid & efficient.
After looking at this a second time, I wish Cadillac speedometer gauge was the tachometer since the speed is digital readout and the gauge speedometer was on the left...
Well done, great review.
HIDs are an option, buddy.
Oooh I see, Interesting.
I think the TFT display on the CTS can't fit on the ATS because the display is too big for ATS
+Itheman123456789 The Camaro SS doesn't perform as well. It's not as fast, it weighs more, and it doesn't handle as well.
Ugh, those gauges look like something straight out of an economy car.
I'm a Cadillac fan and this is the #1 thing that annoys me about this car.
At night, they look great, real sharp and good color. Better than the Germans at night. In the day time, it looks like an afterthought
An economy car how about a car from the early 2000s the gauges on my 2006 for Taurus look better smh Cadillac
Maybe you should blur again the speedometer!?
Those gauges literally took me back 20+ years to when my dad had a Grand Am GT. smh
I don't understand how you can say the cars interior feels cheap? The car has constantly been praised for its materials....as for the driver stalks....lol.....pretty sure the germans make theirs out of plastic to, its nothing special....why is it so hard for people to be objective?
I’m either buying this or a m4 as my next car probably this cause it’s cheaper to fix / insure for me
You made a right turn on Newbrook Dr. and then a left turn onto Poplar Tree Rd.
Hope you get your hands on the 17 fusion sport..
#savethemanuals the auto Rev matching and no lift off throttle shift could get more people into manual cars, if it was only implemented into some cheaper Cars from other makers
very nice with 6 speed manual
Is it me or has the graphics got crisp and 4K like?!.
with the camaro/corvette v8 id buy it. the camaro is great but doesn't offer the same utility as the ats
smelly cat unfortunately you gotta bump up to the CTS-V along with the bumped up price tag 😣
Woow cue and now they added the kia gauges. Who thinks like that
Could you please review the 2016 Toyota Fortuner
ats does look aggressive though
The whole feel of the ATS is similar to the the same of the same year Camaro/CTS.
Man i love your reviews for all the cars!!
i have a question?
Mercedes A45/Nissan 370Z or ATS Coupe?
You need reviews of all the M products. Your channel seems sort of void of BMW stuff
+Taylor Montgomery
BMW have lost there way and are not the car they once were. Do not get me wrong they are a very nice car and a nice sharp drive.
But they in recent years have lost their desirability. There move to turbo is part of this.
This review may also struggle to source BMW's in North America as well for reviews.
I'd rather get the Corvette instead.
Sebastian Rosenberg I know what you mean. The 4 door version of this is sort of like a 4 door corvette so good for people like me who need the back seats. It's not quite the corvette experience but it gets close to the mark with performance and feel
How's the maintenance on these?
Great sleeper car!
It looks like it would be a fast car to me. A real sleeper would be a C63 AMG.
@@asdasdasd0071 I think it looks like a regular sport coupe - IF I can get a body color hood vent - it's a bit of a give away. Oh, check out this guy's review of his new Tesla model 3. Now THAT'S a sleeper!
the fix a flat case looks bad ass. whats that set you back?
Do you even understand why it doesn't have a spare tire? I'm guessing you have no idea whatsoever.
I can guess, run flats? Thats still a cool case!
I wanna like this car but the interior styling needs work and those gauges are sooooooo ugly
