What a clever fix! Much easier than the approach I took to the same issue of sanding down the battery door underneath the contact strips, and epoxying in a bit of ABS plastic filed in the shape of a small ramp so it pushed the contacts up more. But that made the whole assembly bulge a bit more than I would have liked. The malleability of the solder wick would account for that so much better!
