Good evening everybody, and welcome back to Car Obsession. Also, welcome to another walkaround - this time it's all about the Suzuki Ignis. There will of course be a full, driving review coming soon - this is merely the walkaround video.
I have had my SZT for 4 years & just ordered SZ5. The Ignis has without doubt been the best car I have ever owned . Rear reverse camera is also a fine touch. It’s quirky , it’s nippy , it’s amazing on fuel economy. It stands out in a car park but in a good way . I’ve ordered the rush yellow with a wrapped roof . Can’t wait.
Picked my Speedy Blue SZ5 Allgrip just beofer lock down , they've improved rear suspension over last version and road noise is less too. Cracking small car with character easy to get 50mpg. Great to see a new video, keep it up.
Im going to a Suzuki dealer to look at this today. My Outback is superb but circumstances require a downsize for something with character that has far lower running costs.
Great video but would have liked to hear your thoughts on the actual driving experience too. Just bought the top of the range GLX version here in Spain (manual transmission and includes everything except the AllGrip 4wd) , brand new 16,800 euros out the door. Got 58 (mpg) on my 1st tank of petrol. I like the high driving position and the narrow size of the vehicle. Agree with you on the front chrome trim but there is the option to change the chrome with genuine Suzuki accessories. The car still has tons of character. I do mostly city/around town driving and the car suits me perfectly. Better than expected too on the odd motorway run doing 90-100km/h. Previously owned a VW Up! and I am delighted with the little Suzuki. Only negative so far is can be a bit rough going over speed bumps.
Hi mate, thanks for watching, and thanks for the feedback. There will be a full driving review coming soon, this is just a walkaround. Whenever I review a car, I will do a 'walkaround', which is essentially a 'static' review, a kinda warm up to the main review. In regard to being a bit rough over speed humps, that's probably down to the fact the Ignis has a short wheelbase.
That infotainment screen looks slightly odd-why have they put such a large bezel round a tiny screen?? Why not either do away with the bezel or make the screen bigger
Less power available in the newer versions no idea why they've done that a whole second slower too. Just ordered one for the misses I got to admit luv the look.
I actually like the new looks, but I've never liked the rear. Now the Jimny is no longer available they've had to butch the looks up of the Ignis and I think it suits it. The interior is also superb and imaginative. If they could have upgraded the car with the adaptive cruise from the Swift I'd have ordered one as my Motability car. The infotainment is terrible quality - my 2018 Swift had the same system and it was laggy and fuzzy.
I've noticed most mid life facelifts are an attempt to bring in some design details of the upcoming full replacement model, and they almost ALWAYS make the car look worse.
This is my second Ignis in 4 years having bought my first on launch day and I've loved them both, but I dont like the new front end nor do I like the now drab black interior, sadly this will be my second and last Ignis🙁
You really should! I have been comparing micro cars since 2013 for purchase in future, I roamed from Picanto to i10 till now onto Ignis for its practical accomodation space as well as engine quality. Unless you really need 4x4 off-roader, Ignis All-grip would definitely be more practical than Jimny.
Is the Suzuki touchscreen software really that finicky? I bought an identical USB stick to one I already used in my 2012 208 for music, put music on the new stick, and was unsuccessful in getting it to work in my in-laws' 2019 Swift Attitude - it just kept saying that the stick wasn't connected. I put my own stick in (no laughing at the back), it connected and read the tracks and album art, but wouldn't play anything. Both sticks worked fine in my car. My next step is to put said music onto a micro SD card within an SD adaptor and try it in the rather handy slot at the top of the screen, and with any luck it'll work with that. If not, I'll recommend that they talk to their dealer about the issue - there's no reason a modern touchscreen should have issues with a FAT32 32GB USB stick.
Hi Stephan, thanks for watching. I've had a few Suzukis, and yes, they can be a little temperamental when it comes to the infotainment side of things...Most of the time they work fine, though.
@@CarObsession Thanks, I'll give it another go. I originally thought the cold was responsible but that would've just affected both sticks; the damned thing isn't going to beat me.
Hello Vinay, thanks for watching, and thanks for the question. In all honesty, there are not many other cars like the Ignis, it is rather unique in its segment.
Inflation. I bought (well, financed) a new, 12 plate Renault Clio, which at the time was a mid-range trim level and that was under £13,000 with a few options. Now a mid-range Clio will cost you over £18,000 and that's before you spec any options... Also, look at the Swift Sport - the one before the turbocharged one. That could be bought for *around* (I can't remember the exact price) £14,000. Now look at the new one, that's over £22,000 🤯. Thanks for watching.

Yeah, it's not the greatest design if you ask me. Thanks for watching 👍🏽.
Awesome vlog
Thank you very much!
Great review, just bought one

I nearly bought one of these new in October 2019. I still wonder if I should have.
...well this new 2021 model has a few nice improvements for example to the engine and a new 10 Ah lithium ion battery and some other stuff too.
You really should!

Volvo has become overpriced because all Volvos are made in China by Geely Automobile since 2019 except electric Volvos.

They are a Bosch system and pretty ordinary to say the least
What are the other cars in its compitition (mini suv segment) there in Europe? It weighs 860kgs in india!

Best colour for ignis?
Hi George, you've already asked that question on one of my other Ignis videos - there isn't really a best colour as that is a subjective area.
Update - Couldnt help myself, gone for another Subaru but a bit cheaper to buy and run. Hooked on the brand im afraid.
Nice video! Shame about the weather! Hahahaha
Hi Bob, thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment!
My wife has the suzuki swift hybrid all drive z5 £18,000 and it is totally gutless and I just hate driving it!

Haha, nice idea but I don't think that slogan would catchy enough for a T-shirt.
At least you were being honest.
How have we got to a point where a car this size, at £18k, is regarded as inexpensive? Feels like only Dacia make genuinely cheap cars now.
