We are walking you through the steps we took to build our chicken coop. This coop is completely mobile which makes moving it around the yard daily easy! We wanted something sturdy that would last, yet portable. We designed this chicken coop with some really cool automatic features that make daily chores a lot easier. We are so excited to show you our Modern Farmhouse styled mobile chicken coop. This coop has an attached run and wheels so that you can move it across your yard or field easily. The chicken coop has an automatic waterer and a self refiling feeder made out of PVC pipes, with an extra reservoir so that the chickens can be self sufficient if we go away for a few days. Our layer hens have plenty of space to eat all of the fresh bugs that their hearts desire. We even made this coop to be black and white so that it matches our house and is cute! It is like a pretty chicken tractor! We are excited for our layer hens and all the eggs to come!
Thanks for watching!

I'm glad that you did a build video for this coop! This design is so cool. I especially love the feeding/watering systems. Y'all put a lot of thought in this build. Your chickens will have a happy life in their new home. Safe from those coyotes and still getting fresh grass haha
Thanks! I’m pretty happy with how the water and feed system worked out. Time will tell how well they work long term.🤞 So far, we have not had any loss to predators with these chickens or our meat chickens from this spring. Our dog Lucy probably has something to do with that 😀
Hello my friend
Awesome creativity, very good mobile chicken coop diy my friend👍👍👍👍👍 thanks for sharing friend👍👍👍👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I will live in town and I have no intention of moving to the country. And I’m 75 years old but I love watching these kind of videos I don’t know why I love it so much maybe it’s a dream maybe I want to make of my head and I just don’t have the strength or the willpower to do it. But it’s still fun watching you run your small little place and building that nice little chicken coop and just reminds me of a calmer peaceful life. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie thanks for another project at another great video
Glad you enjoy the videos! We hope to keep making videos of our journey!
It really came out beautifully. Super impressed with the water & feed set up. Very glad to hear I’m not the only one who has to take multiple trips to the hardware when doing a project. LOL😊
Thanks! Multiple trips to the hardware store and trying to piece everything together in the hardware store is my forte 😂
So beautiful sharing❤😘
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Oh yes I like chicken coops. I like to do extensions for people's chicken coops. More playroom for the chickens.
More space is always good. If we didn’t have a dog and predators, we may have been able to free range. This setup will hopefully protect while still giving them fresh grass and bugs
Love your sharing~~ my friend! have a good day!
Thanks! Glad you liked the video!
Even I would spend a night in this coop, amazing job Ryan 🌸💕🌸
hahahah thanks Jasmine ! 💚💚
Ok, I've seen a lot of coop builds on the yt and this one is my favorite. Now if I can only convince the wifey...
L47. Thanks for sharing friend. Very beautiful. Go ahead dear friend. Keep in touch always dear friend 🌹
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video! Welcome to the channel

“I got a new toy-I mean tool..”
That is so my husband and I 😂👌🏻
Awesome build! Thank you for sharing how you built your coop. It is absolutely adorable. I like that you were able to use leftover materials you already had laying around. Very nice 👌🏻 It sure does resemble your home!
New projects call for new toys 😁. It always feels good to have a project where we can utilized those extra materials. I won’t know what to do one day when they are all used up 😂
Hello! This is an excellent make of a chicken coop. Thanks for sharing.😀
Thank you for watching!
I love the concept of a mobile chicken coop. What a great idea to be able to relocate it every few days. That's awesome that you were able to repurpose so many materials from your home build. Your chickens should be very happy in this home 🏡 🐣🐤🐥
Thanks! Our chickens seem to be loving the setup so far. They love it every time we put them in a new area.
Great job, thanks for sharing My friend
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. Check out our chicken coop tour video from last week too!
Ryan the table saw is a new toy!🤣
I love everything about your new mobile chicken coop... Mini version of your house! 🏡
🐓 Awesome Job! 🐓
haha a new toy indeed! Ryan has been loving his table saw, he is still giddy about it 😂
I love watching this process!!
thank you Dylan! 😀
I’m doing a somewhat similar design but am not quite finished yet. Taking some of your great ideas though. Especially the cantilever wheel system. Thank you!
I love this DIY! I live in the city, boy would I love to live on land! New Friend
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Loved it, y'all. Enjoyed seeing some of the thought process that went into the build.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So awesome! We have a large chicken run and we feed them grass. I’d like to have a mobile system and this is motivating for sure! Thank you!!
Thanks! We like the mobile aspect of ours, however we are limited on how many chickens we can have. So far, the limited number of chickens hasn’t been a probably though
-Ryan
Love it guys! And I really love that it matches your house!! Great use of extra materials 🙌🏼🙌🏼🌼🌼🌻🌻💐💐
Thanks! It feels good to be able to work on a project and not have to buy too many materials. I’m spoiled for sure. I won’t know what to do when we run out of these materials 😁
I have that Bosch saw. I LOVE it!
Nice! We really like ours too 🌷-Cara
That was nice seeing how you put it all together! And it matches the house nicely. 💖💖💖
Thanks! Glad you liked the video! I told Cara before that all the structures we will build around the house are going to look similar to the house haha 😂
- Ryan
I love it!! Mahalo for sharing! I have been looking for something light weight and this was by far the best.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you! -Ryan & Cara
Really enjoy your " building " videos and this one is great - absolutely fabulous mobile coop ! Best Wishes, Paul & Nadj.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the videos! We are definitely planning to have more of this type of video as we keep developing and building out our homestead.
-Ryan
Excellent video! Straight to the point and informative! You guys are so handy. I had to buy plans for our coop. Our 13 chickens already turned into 22. Darn chicken math! 😬
Thanks! Yeah, our chicken math is probably about the same as yours. We currently have 5 chickens, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that number magically doubles in the near future 😂
Hello thanks you for sharing the great video
Thanks! Glad you liked the video!
Fabulous build guys! You all are self-sufficient and it matches the house, how cool is that! I'm considering Barred Rock and or Rhode Island reds but only need 4 ....to start😆
Thanks AJ! I think this size coop would be perfect for 4 birds. Our birds love the fresh grass they get every day! Hope your build goes well!
What a great coop! 👍🐥🐥🐣 👍
thank you!
As always the quality of your video is superb👍👍👍 excellent diy project as well 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed this DIY project! Thanks for the kind words
Wow! Awesome coup build! 😍Great work guys. You’re so handy 🔨

Excellent coop
thank you 😊
Heyyy Fam !!! What an amazing chicken coop! You should so make these and sell them ! This is like Hotel California for Chickens !!! Great Video !! I have subscribed and tuning in for more ! God Bless You !!! 🥰
Thanks! We may have to do that, or maybe just make up the plans and sell those!
Cool design. Great video, guys.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
You need a ventilation on top. But other then that, good work. I think I will steal your design :D
Yes, I think that would be a good improvement. Thanks - Ryan
If you would like to join in with us on Monday feel free to do it anytime you’d like you don’t have to be committed to every Monday once in a while maybe share a half page that you’ve been doodling in or maybe a full page maybe talk about it maybe not whatever you feel like doing it’s a free thing to jump in and share whatever you’ve done is no stress or pressure on this. Just remember the #coloring party with friends. You do not have to capitalize the word coloring as I get it I should’ve taken off but I was lazy should’ve made it lowercase
Thanks for the info. We may have to join!
Greetings and well wishes from kashmir💕
Sray happy💕
Thanks!
It’s a seriously fancy chicken coop! It would cost a fortune to buy in the shops. My poor hens are in sub standard housing compared with your posh birds!🤣
You’re too nice 😊 Thanks! Hoping for lots of eggs from these chickens haha
Interesting & amazing work 👌🙌
thank you 😊
Very nice!
thank you!
Bagus kandang nya
Great build, I really love the concept. Do you think this would be big enough to house 8 chickens? If not what dimensions would you recommend?
Love the coop. Would love to build one just like it. Would like to know how the feeder and waterer are holding up? Have you had any problems with them leaking (waterer) or clogging(feeder)? Would you change anything about the design?
Hi! 😊 loved your video & the design so much I am currently on the verg on building our very own!
Is there a list of materials you used that would be helpful at my nearest lumber yard ???
This coop is cool. How sturdy is the coop seeing as u only used 2x2 except for the bottom, i ask because i want to use 2x2 in my design as well for weight reasons but not if it can be broken.
Awesome design guys !! You must've saved a fortune with this build. I've seen some prices on line and the one you built would go for alot !!
How many birds can it hold ?
Awesome video guys !!
Cheers J&C 🌱🐔🌱
Thanks! We enjoyed the project and the process. Comparing this coop size with others online, I think this coop could easily hold 8-10 chickens 🐓
@@bluebirdhomestead cheers thanks Ryan!!
Very nice build!👍👏 Cool that you had some material leftover from your house. My son recently got 3 chickens, he has a metal coop, but you never know when he may need to expand. Last night there was a skunk by the coop, inside his privacy fenced in yard.😯 We're trying to figure out if it went over or under it.😉 Have a blessed weekend!🌅
Oh no not a skunk! Did he get sprayed? I have been sprayed before, not fun haha
@@bluebirdhomestead no it was on his security camera.😊 Just need to figure out if they climb 6 foot fences, lol!
@@mishalea Oh my a 6' fence! Wow! That is one determined skunk haha. Glad no one got sprayed though! 😀
I found it!!
😀👍
Ryan I just came across your video. Anyway you can do a short video on the wheels? Thank you
Great build! Just wondering if the water freezes in the winter?
Yes, the water freezes during the winter. We used other water system for the winter. Still working on a winter proof idea - Ryan
Does the wire run along the floor of the run or is it open to the ground?
Do you have a full material list posted somewhere? I have a couple of clients who want something just like this and it would really help 😊
No sorry, we don't have the full material list or plans yet. It is something we made as we went. Ryan is planing on making a set of plans and more details when we build our second coop sometime this winter hopefully. -Cara
I love it! Do you by any chance have the plan? Would love to copy! 😊
Thank you! At this time we do not have a sketched out copy of our plans, just the videos. We have been thinking about drawing one up. Ryan wants to take the time to do it right if he does it. We will be sure to post an update video in the future though 😊
Is there a video of the food / water system?
Good morning my friend!!! This is a well-made video, thank you so for sharing I really appreciate your hard work and dedication you put into your content, I leave a thumbs up and my support 🎁 stay bless and have your self a awesome day. ( LIKE 22 ❤️🤍❤️🤍❤️🤍)
Thanks! I appreciate the kinds words!
Do you guys have a materials list? How much of what lumber was used?
Hey! Do y’all have a printable plan for this coop?
Any plans we could purchase for this ?
Do you have any roosting sticks?
We have since installed some roasting bars. Most of our chickens don’t utilize them though! Might be some training needed! Haha 😂
Is there a benefit to having the water and food inside vs underneath where the waste would fall on the ground?
Thanks
Our main reason for doing this is so that the food doesn’t get wet in any rain and also to keep other animals/rodents from getting easy access to it. Also if we need to close the door and keep the chickens inside for any reason they can still have food and water.
How has it worked out since you’ve used it for a year now?
I’ve not raised chickens but I was wondering what keeps a predator from digging under the run at night or are the chickens secured every evening in the coop?
We have never had anything try to dig under. They do go inside the house part of the coop each night though.
Where did you get the wheels and do you remember what they were called? Thanks!
We purchased them at Lowes. I believe they were 8" universal run flat wheels. Slightly bigger wheels might better though if you have variable terrain. -Ryan
Great idea, thank you for sharing, new sub here, Hope to stay connected 🙂
thank you so much 😊
