Does this work with the new microsoft flight simulator 2020?
I am not sure to be honest but it's a hotas and it does have hotas support so I'd be willing to bet the cost of the hotas it does.
It does. I tested it this morning
That's what we need, thanks for the confirmation
Craftman Seven Eighty thanks man
it works, but totally a starter hotas, worth $80 or less.
I've used a x52 PRO and I've tried a x56 RHINO both made this thing feel like a plastic toy sword next to a finely crafted Japanese katana...
Difference is night and day, the HOTAS X is beginner, then 16000M/x52 mid-grade, then x56/Warthog expert, and Virpil/vkb-sim/etc stuff expert+
'come on camera, focus!'
*Camera focuses*
Looks away from camera screen for one second
*Looses focus*
It used to drive me crazy!
It's kinda amazing they seem to have doubled in price recently...
To be honest I think they stopped making them to concentrate on the new model but I think EA and Microsoft may have released new games that created a demand for them I'm not sure lol
Now triple…
@@electricblade5727 nah i got it for 40bucks
Excellent review! I have one on the way and I'll be using it for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 when it's released next month.
It's a great entry level hotas, I bought mine because I was unsure if I'd use it. It has collected dust recently but fir over a year I'd use it every week to play elite dangerous and loved it
I bought it specifically for that game. 10 more days!! I’m extremely exited to play my first ever flight sim.
@@vrphotoatlanta you will have a blast. Many people don't like the standard mapping, don't be afraid to change it so you know where all the buttons are
@@vrphotoatlanta nice! You'll be hooked. I've played a few, but it's been years. Judging by this one though, it's sure to be a game-changer.
It’s wholly ironic I searched a review of this hotas on RUclips, find a fellow Dr, also for oculus rift s and just bought elite dangerous, it’s like the stars aligned, SOLD
Glad I could help Dr I still use my hotas every week for elite and couldn't play without it. I was worried about the purchase originally but so glad I did
Hey fellow doctors!
What's up doc?
This is so underrated! Thanks for telling me what to expect!
The ammout of people that have come out of everywhere declaring their love for this device I think it's earned it place as a great hotas. I don't think anyone I know that uses one didn't start here if not still uses it
Nice review man! I will be hitting up Elite with you and Savage in a couple weeks as soon as I start day shift.
Awesome I cant wait
We are eagerly awaiting your arrival commander.
@@SavageVR T-Minus 12 days...

Thank you so much, that means so much
Solid review, and well-paced. You deserve WAY more subs. Keep up the good work mate! :))
Thanks so much, oddly enough I used this video to pack it away when I moved
Thanks for the review, I just picked this HOTAS up after getting an Oculus Rift S about a week ago and looking forward to getting in to Elite Dangerous when it arrives!
my pleasure how are you finding the rift s? played much so far?
@@DrOculusVR I'm loving it so far, been playing quite a variety of games, but, looking for more games to play while seated so I don't work up as much of a sweat (Beat Saber is quite the workout!) Hoping ED scratches that itch, really looking forward to it.
@@MattChampionRocks well if you're a humble bundle subscriber the January bundle has dirt rally 2 in it soon so that could be worth it. It's only like £7/$12 us I believe
This is what I use for Star Citizen and I really like it. It's literally an old Topgun Afterburner molded in a different color and without the safety cover over the thumb trigger. Everything else is identical. Top Gun Afterburners were good sticks back in like 1998... They're still good sticks now.
Mine is looking a little worse for wear these days with occasional drifting and it's really squeeky now but still firm and functional. I used it for squadrens recently
@@DrOculusVR Yeah, honestly it's the only option that offers the control scheme I like. I haven't found anything else with the proportional rocker on the throttle and I use that for yaw control. Have since X-Wing Alliance. No other stick on the market that I've found offers that proportional rocker switch, which is really sad.
Not to mention the price was crazy low. The use and functions on this stick are worth double what I paid
you deserve way more subscribers big props
You truly honour me, thank you
This was a really good, well thought out, unbiased review! I thought it was cool to see the t flight up close like that. Elite is the only game I use my HOTAS on too but I did stretch for an x52 pro for the extra buttons as well as the fact that the in game stick is modeled after it. So far my x52 has been really solid as well but the t flight, for the low price, seems like a really great option for anybody who’s looking to get into elite or any other flight sim for the first time.
it really is. i know i wont use it on much of anything else so for the price its the perfect buy
Thanks for this review! I was half and half about getting this but after watching this im pretty sure I want it now so thank you!
My pleasure and you'll be pleased to know with weekly use it's still going strong today
It's actually decent for the price and with some creative button combos, it covers all your needs for elite dangerous
Exactly, some people comment saying theres way better sticks out there but its not about it being the best but about being insane value for money
i use this flight stick to play war thunder and although its not anything insane it does its job and thats perfect.
That's exactly right, many people have been in the comments saying there's better sticks out the and that's true but is there a better one for £40? I couldn't find one
I've just picked up Elite on PC after having played it to some extent on PS4 about a year ago and was hoping to pick up a decent HOTAS without breaking the bank too much for just one game, and what a coincidence that's the exact game you used it for! I was a bit hesitant to go this cheap as I would've expected it to be a bit rubbish, but actually seems pretty great for a budget option. Great review, extremely helpful!
I was using mine last night, its had some heavy use and is showing it but don't use it enough to warrent buying another. Might strip it down to see why it turns left now or Google it (I have another friend who had same thing) but I've had more than my moneys worth
@@DrOculusVR Guess that's not too bad if you've had it over a year, If I get decent use out of it for that long I'll probably look to an upgrade. Good luck finding a fix!
Old post, but I gotta say still a good flight stick. I use it for Star Wars Squadrons. got it barely used for $60.
yeah its a great stick for folks like me who are suuuuuuper casual with its use. still going to this day although it does drift left a bit in elite
Thanks for the review I am going to get this been debating for a while
Awesome, I hear these are becoming more and more difficult to get hold of because they're for the ps3 but there is a ps4 version too if the price is right
I am satisfied with the Hotas X. I got it on sale for 45$, primarily for X-Plane 11. And although there's a bit of a deadzone on the twist axis, it worked fine right ootb. I also use it with Frontier Pilot Simulator, and wanted to use it for Elite:Dangerous as well, but cramming all the necessary bindings on the relatively small amount of buttons will take some getting used to, so i haven't really got into Elite yet. The only way to do the bindings, would be to use at least 4 buttons as modifiers, and memorizing all of the functions that way is a bit of a hassle, so i'm considering buying the Saitek farm simulator panel (lot of buttons and switches there) and combine it with the Hotas X for Elite.
I struggle remembering what all the buttons do on this one let alone adding more but that could be an good idea that said in VR if you cant see the buttons it could be problematic
@@DrOculusVR The modifier combinations are what's super-annoying to me. Especially when the Elite control scheme for the Hotas has 4 modifiers. That means that every button has 5 freakin' functions. I think that if i offloaded some of the most important ones to a dedicated panel, it would actually be easier to remember. But yeah, i play on monitor. I get it that it might not be the right option for VR.
After watching this review I got one for 30 dollars and am getting today or tomorrow I'm so excited!!!
You are going to love it. What are you planning to use it with?
@@DrOculusVR I plan to use it with my xplane 11 and maybe some other games if it works with it.
thanks for this video!
Thanks for watching 😁
@@DrOculusVR is the joystick still good? how has it aged?
It's a little creaky and occasionally twists to the left but that could be the way I hold it and would be easily sorted by tweaking the deadzone
@@DrOculusVR ok, ty!
I really should invest in something like this and not a bad price.
It's not but unless you're gonna get into something like elite dangerous it might not be worth it
I just ordered one earlier today. It's going to be my first HOTAS since I feel I need one for Elite. It also helps that I play war thunder and mech warrior online.
I just came here to figure out how to RE-box my Thrustmaster PS HOTAS 4 for I can return it. Nearly impossible to calibrate (trim) the rudder, it feels like I have to continuously keep pressure on the joystick to keep from drifting to the right. I've heard others with this complaint. Otherwise, I have no major complaints other then it's just not as close to natural for GA and commercial jets on MSFS 2020. Instead, my Turtle Beach Velocity Flight One arrived today (Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo was just too expensive to justify the nearly $250 price difference for whatever advantages it may offer.
You are one smart cookie, when I moved house I did exactly the same thing! You're right though mine now drifts and am having to frequently correct it but the fact I had it so long and it is so cheap I don't feel robbed at all. Maybe one day I'll try to fix it or replace it but for now it lives
i bought one and love it...it does the job...very well i might add
It truly does. For the price, the build quality and functionality really did impress me
You said you going to add the link to where you got it from, because I only see it for about 80 ponds on eBay nowadays?
Sadly the link died long ago I was a purchase from argos
i have this one for dcs and i can bind so many buttons to it using the combo its very amazing for its low price
That's exactly right, this video isnt about it being the best on the market, far from it. It is fantastic value for money though and that's what I love about it.
I see my alt account! WOOOO! I am famous ma!
lol
Good review man.
famous? sure all the 20 people that watch the 1st min of my videos will love it
I’m in the UK as well
I tried this and felt like the centring force peaked a short way into the travel then dropped off weirdly (think it was with lowest tension setting), couldn't get used to it.
Sadly I dont have much for a basis of comparison it's my 1st hotas and likely my last
The pictures at first looked really bad but actually seeing it out of box etc it doesn't look to shabby. For a cheap price it actually seems not too bad even though it is plastic it doesn't seem like too crappy plastic the same can be said with the wheel they made too. I had one it was pretty decent I might actually buy another
i think you nailed it. its a fantastic place to start/casually use
Cool vid -thanks guy. I have a question: how do you secure the throttle part to your desk, it didn't look like it had any suctions pads?
D3cyTH3r replying to this just so I get notified when someone answers 😂
Theres no need I've never felt it tilt or shift during use and if you use it in the connected together you're never tilting it
@@DrOculusVR Thanks - I did a Google search and saw that some folk secure it with screws around the outside of it. That's not really an option with my computer desk.
Btw: the Argos price has gone up to £50! -must've got too many good reviews or could be a US import tax?
"Let's flip this bad boy onto its bottom." Boy if I had a nickel for every time I heard that. Would this be any more or less compatible with Rift than the $130 T16000M FCS model?
please please for the love of all the gods give us/ME the bindings i cant even pull off the landing gear lmao but im loving the game in vr. again please give the bindings also got a new sub
they are now in the description you can thank Savage VR ruclips.net/user/SavageVR
Gee WTF it's $120 in Canada, every single review says it's cheap, it's sooo expensive
I think it's about timing. When I bought mine it was a cheap stick for a dying/dead console. Since then they have released a ps4 version and I don't think these are being made anymore. Couple that with the star wars squadrens release and the cost may have increased. May be worth looking for the ps4 version and see if that's cheaper
It's pretty good, I mean your video mostly
Thanks, the star of the show is obviously the hotas which just so happens to also be pretty good
On real planes, when seated on the left seat, the throttle is controlled with the right hand and the yoke with the left.
I did not know that, I'd hate the left seat. The right as a brit would feel more natural anyway
@@DrOculusVR Yeah that's where the pilots in command sit and on the airbuses, the yoke/stick is completely to the left. I wish there would be a flight yoke system that would let the user switch it up.
@@LuisMartinez-ft9or I've never looked too hard but I think there are some places that do sell modular setups but I think you'd be looking at big money
It's a great starter option for someone just getting started but there's definitely better out there made with realistic materials and light up toggle switches etc. But as a starting point for someone it's a good option
I think you've absolutely nailed it there. For the casual gamers who occasionally plays something that requires the HOTAS option its brilliant but if you're committed to playing these types of games all the time then I would absolutely suggest you invest more anti a better product. I was shocked at the difference using a HOTAS made
@@DrOculusVR great for star citizen that game will soon start using the vulkan api in future versions so more people with lower end machines can play it seamlessly in its current form u have to have a beefy rig to get a decent experience running it and for star citizen believe me when I say using a HOTAS system made the experience so much more realistic.
@@chrisbaughman9860 I played on a free flight weekend a few years ago with what was basically a top of the range rig and it ran like garbage. Put me off it big time. Now I'm all VR so unless they add VR or drop the subscription model I'll never play it again. Does look good though
@@DrOculusVR my brother runs star citizen in vr it has been optimized over time so it does run better the big turn off is the pay model my brother got me into the ptu program so if there's a bug or something that could be improved I send there team a suggestion it has come a long way it only really lags now if u have tons of people on a server at once but once vulkan is implemented hopefully that fixes the lag issues

I know what you mean a little resistance would be nice
Looks like the price has been increased with the release of Flight Sim 2020
I imagine the demand has increased. There is also a newer version for ps4 which costs more. I got the ps3 version because it was for pc anyway
I'm going to look into getting one of these for flight simulator 2020!! Should be better than using my keyboard lol

I just bought this, the XBox 1 and Windows version. Finding it really hard, cannot figure out how to use my landing gear and sometimes different buttons do different things. I keep seeing that there is a shift button on the web but each site says it is a different button, wtf is the button layout for this in ED,.
I think I may be getting old as I have never felt so technophobe as I do today, thank you Thrustermaster for that :(
So that's the issue. There is a standard button mapping for the thrustmaster that can be used but I've setup custom mapping so I have no idea what button it would be. I'm an old man too I figured the only way I would Lear was to map ot myself so I knew what button did what and you're right I do have a shift key to do different things with the same button it's the easiest way without resorting to the keyboard for things
@@DrOculusVR I just saw your video now.

No worries this hotas only works on playstation 3 and PC so you're not going to be playing battlefield with it plus the controls will be optimised for a pad anyway so I doubt the experience for the 30 seconds you're in a plane would be improved by this
still using? any regrets? (buying cheapest one etc.)
I had many hours use and if I ever crack out elite I still use it. I've had more than my monies worth from this. Zero regrets

Hi
After seeing your review I decided to order the Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X, I already have the Thrustmaster T.Flight joystick but I was missing the throttle unfortunately my budget for these things is very limited I was just buying the throttle the Thrustmaster twcs throttle and later bought the T.16000M FCS joystick but unfortunately my budget is limited so I decided to order Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X, I play and I am a big fan of Elite Dangerous and playing with the joystick + throttle is a fantastic experience game.
I have 850 hours of play with the Thrustmaster T.Flight joystick and it is still in excellent condition.
@Dr Oculus VR Keep up the great work.
Will you be able to send me your throttle button settings?

Does this need any complex setting up to work well with Elite Dangerous?
Not really it's more comfort, priority and personal preference. There's button maps designed for it built in but you'll soon figure out what you want and where you want it
Does it work with Star Wars squadrons
It absolutely does although I did have to remap a few buttons
good video dude
Thanks very much
is this compatible with flight sim X?
never tested it myself. It's a hotas if the game supports it (which i would assume a game like that would) then it will work
@@DrOculusVR thx
No problem hope it helps
Are you using Win 10? I cannot find proper software to install the T.Flight Hotas X on Win 10. The site is unresponsive.
i am on windows 10 try these drivers, drive.google.com/file/d/1qU_Xu5rcsCLKMtlkoTdAxG7uunLgqkSz/view?usp=sharing i uploaded to google drive if you cant get on to the site they were downloaded from here support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/tflighthotasx-en/
So i bought Elite Dangerous and playing it with M+K was not great, picked this beauty for 30 quid from amazon and it improved the game ten fold. It is cheap and it is great, you cant go wrong at this price tag, the only thing that bugs me is how little resistance throttle handle has , any chance any of you managed to do something about it ?
Sadly no I just learned to live with it. Never really looked into mods for it maybe I should
@@DrOculusVR have you tried any other more expensive stuff? is there anything you would recommend that feels better? Obviously still on a reasonable price, cant realy afford Thrustmaster Warthog A10C
@@MV-hx6jr sadly no just this. my advice, run this into the ground to see if its something you get regular use out of and if thats the case upgrade later to a more expensive one once you can justify the price
Would you reconmend this product?
I would for the right price. I paid about the same an an xbox game (£40) for mine and for that price its absolutely worth it. If it's much more then check to see if theres a better alternative. Dont get me wrong I love it. But wouldn't pay £100 for it
Do you need to download drivers for this on pc or does it work out of the box?
No there is a software download. People have reported having issues downloading them so I put them in my Google drive. The link is in the comments
Ok thanks
Is it sturdy?
Kinda, I'm not gentle in the middle of a dogfight but it does creek a bit and occasionally twists left now

I'll consult the manual and get back to you
So I've looked into it and people do use it on mac yes
Does anyone know if this works with Lockheed Martin Prepared 3D? And does this have rudder control by twisting the handle? Will be buying this if so.
The joystick does twist for runner control and you could map a button on the throttle as a shift key if you needed further buttons as for specific game support best I can say is if it supports hotas it should work
Dr Oculus VR thanks for your reply, will order one today :)
Hello, can you use this joystick for X Plane 11?
I haven't tried. I did just check the steam page and it does list joystick support so I dont see why you wouldn't be able to
Does the stick twist like the T.16000m?
Yeah it does, for the super cheap price it's packed full of features.
Is it possible to add any resistance to the throttle? as I've heard there's not much to it
@@Connor_Bowles I'm not sure if there's any mods you can do if you take it apart but no there's no settings to adjust it
Sorry for all the questions but I noticed your binds are in the description. I don't suppose you have like a pdf or like a list of what each button is mapped to? I'm just curious as to what they are coz as I'm sure you can relate, setting up key binds is a pain 😂
I sadly don't I got them from a guy who got them from a guy so they just came as is and he walked me through in game
so pitch, yaw, roll, and throttle are on 5 axis? how?
Yeah I'm way to dumb to answer that question all I can say is throttle is dealt with on the left hand with throttle (stops in the middle for 0) pitch is stick forward and back, roll is left and right and yaw is twist the stick left and right. Hopefully that helps
@@DrOculusVR oh im dumb. I didnt know you could twist the stick. Great.
No not at all I didnt know till I used it. For the price it's a fantastic bit of kit
Its good for xbox 360?
Never tried it just always took the box at its word
Did you have an issue with the z axis being reversed? In the windows settings mine continuously shows throttle back as going full throttle and going full throttle as being throttle back. Tried calibrating it and the same thing happens over and over again.
no i've never had that issue. i assume you have it setup for pc use? is it a steam issue or does it work on other platforms reversed also?

@@edoggxxx4598 then this is not for you, it was designed for the playstation 3 and is an entry level at best. Sadly I dont have any experience with any others to recommend though
Works for ps4?
Not at all there's a different version for ps4
Curry's PC world £39.99 As of May 01 2021
That's a great spot! I'm tempted to buy more for when the prices increase again
@@DrOculusVR I am waiting to pick it up tomorrow. Curry's didn't have it for sameday pickup for some reason. Just got into star citizen and I am not liking the mouse and keyboard set up so I decided to treat myself to one.
It's a great entry setup that will last. The question is will it be a gateway stick to something more expensive
@@DrOculusVR who knows! I like the warthog hotas, but I don't have the funds
@@danyoung399 yeah that was my thoughts get one and play more elite dangerous never looked back but am always tempted to upgrade. The elite dangerous kinda stopped when my friends didn't show up any more and so the odd bit of squadrens and that's about it for me. I did just get game pass though so maybe flight sim will make it see use
I'm selling 2 of these for what I paid (US) $80 +shipping
I'm sure there's plenty of folks out there that would buy them. Did they start drifting yet?
@@DrOculusVR dunno about drifting, opened one and used it less than an hour, sold as "open box" ebay...
I really liked it more than using a controller, decided I'd splurge and get a VKB stick and a x52 throttle. I won a bid $67 for a Thrustmaster TMX force feed back steering wheel, gonna start some racing too (lol I know I'll suck, I can't shift gears! but will be fun/ different from my normal gaming)
@@TAC0FACE ahh right, after hammering mine for a year it occasionally turns left still great and essential for me
@@DrOculusVR sell it used on ebay or other seller sites maybe, might be time for an upgrade bud! Hotases. uhh.. Hotai (plural for hotas?!?) A flock of Hotuhs are selling like hot crack cake!!! Sometimes used broken shit selling for what it was retail because corona and men at home gaming lol....
