I don't understand anything about"vibrations" and I care less.. OUM still remains unique and incomparable. Never has ever happened even in the West to overpass her
@jjcbss No friend, this song was released in 1956, and will post you in a message another intersting concert of (Paris in 1967), it is translated. thanks for coming across the video.
Fantastic voice but the science is wrong. Vibrations per second is also know as hertz / Hz. This measurement also corresponds to specific pitch names. For example 440Hz is the same as A4 on the piano. The "peak note" here is around A4 or a tiny bit higher. To approach A9 (roughly the 14,000 Hz) range would be 5 full octaves higher. The highest note I've ever heard on a recording is a C7 by singer Mado Robin. Again, Kulthoum is wonderful, but the science in this video is completely incorrect.
A salaam alaikum. I love Um, she is one of the best singers ever to be recorded. However, the fundamental frequency of the sustained vocal at 1:44 is nowhere near 14 kilohertz. Just wanted to point that out, not that anyone should worry about it.
Hey, Arabian here, when you hear the world abu or um then a name after it, don't mistake it for a first name, abu means father while um means mother, so her name would mean Kalthoums mother, I know it's a weird concept, but the reason is that Arabians find pride in children which is also the reason we have big families with lots of children.
@@Marcus-zv6ms Thanks Marcus! I am familiar with ‘Abu’ but have not before heard the feminine equivalent. Now I know, and my world is that much richer!
I agree. I don’t know how they measure such things. Umm Kulthum was a contralto and as far as I know can’t reach that much hertz. When that said, these are only speculation because at the end of the days. The singing technique and breath control is much more important than how many hertz she can hit. Umm Kulthums voice is incomparable when it comes to singing technique and her breath control is unparalleled.
@@Khaled4life for sure! breath control, intonation, timbre, and mic technique are all far more important than vocal range. Thom Yorke and David Byrne are both examples of great singers with limited range but an abundance of character and style. in addition, 14kHz is far above (i.e. octaves) the upper limit of what *any* human voice can produce as a fundamental tone - excluding overtones, in other words.
@@noisemodule we musn't forget that there had to be other minor sounds that the microphone probably captured. But anyway, it says per second. So if she would have 3,750 vibrations per 0,25 seconds, which could be the case sinds she was making the sound continuasly, the mic would still capture 15 kHz per seconds. I am not an expert in this but it sounds logical to me. Even if it werent 15 kHz, the amount of breath control she would have to have to make the sound foor 10 seconds is still impressive.

Gonzales Dalidien I mean wich kalthoum's song contain the total range of her vibrato ?
well you can hear the oldest recordings of her live concerts which are from late 30's
of course she started doing live concerts way before the late 30's
but unfortunately there are no recordings of her concerts before 1936
there are studio recordings from the 20's though
but i suppose you want to hear a live concert
so i can give you some titles in arabic letters of her concerts in the late 30's that shows her great vocals but the quality of these recordings are of a medium quality and sometimes below ,but you can hear some of her 40's concerts you just have to copy it on your search engine :
كيف مرت على هواك القلوب احتمال ٤ مايو ١٩٣٩
أم كلثوم مونولوج هلّت ليالي القمر احتمال اكتوبر ١٩٤٤
the first one is from 1939
the second in dated 1944
and each one of these two recordings is one song
it would be long because of the repetition due to audience demand and improvising
by the way the video we are in is from 1955 so she was 56 years old
PS you would probably hear the peek starting from the middle of the recording or at the last quarter or when she start improvising so u gotta be patient .
