  • Shopping must be as seamless online as it is offline.
    This is the main takeaway for Malaysian retailers from a KPMG and GS1 study.
    It found that many Malaysians are comfortable shopping online and in-store, with Gen-Zs preferring a blend of both experiences.
    Ngu Heng Sing from KPMG Malaysia said brands must strengthen their online presence by adopting technological innovations and personalised engagement."
    The study also found that mobile banking apps are now the preferred method of payment owing to better security.
    Interestingly, 27 per cent of Malaysian respondents in the survey said they did not like AI product recommendations.
    The report also highlighted the growing trend of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services across Southeast Asia.
