Vetki Macher Muitha

Ingredients Quantity
Vetki Muitha
Vetki Fish Fillet 500 gms
Onion Paste 50 gms
Ginger Paste 10 gms
Garlic Paste 5 gms
Red Chilli Powder 3gms
Turmeric Powder 3 gms
Salt To Taste
Egg 1 no
Gravy
Mustard Oil 100 ml
Potato 250 gms
Cumin Seeds 2 gms
Bay leaf 2 nos
Whole red chilli 2 nos
Whole Garam Masala 2 gms
Onion Paste 200 gms
Ginger Pasta 50 gms
Garlic Paste 20 gms
Turmeric Powder 3 gms
Cumin Powder 2 gms
Coriander Powder 2 gms
Red Chilli Powder 2 gms
Kashmiri chilli powder 2 gms
Tomato Puree 50 gms
Salt To Taste
Water As required
Whole Green Chillies 3 nos
Sugar 30 gms
Ghee 20 gms
Garam Masala Powder 3 gms
Method:
1. Paste the Vetki fish and mix all the ingredients for muitha very well.
2. Boil water with some vinegar and salt. Reduce the flame. Apply some oil in the hand, make small balls of the fish mixture, and poach in the simmering water.
3. Once the fish balls start floating on the surface of the water and become fluffy, remove them from the water and leave them aside.
4. Heat oil and shallow fry the fish balls till light brown and remove.
5. In the same oil, fry the potatoes till brown and remove.
6. Temper the oil with cumin seeds, whole red chilli, whole garam masala, and bay leaf.
7. Add onion paste and cook for some time, add ginger and garlic paste and cook on medium heat till it stops removing the raw flavour.
8. Add all the powdered spices and mix well.
9. Add tomato puree and salt and cook till the gravy starts removing the oil.
10. Add fried potatoes and fish and cook along with the gravy for some time.
11. Add enough water and simmer the fish by covering the pan for 2 minutes.
12. Check the taste, finish with ghee, garam masala powder, and whole red chilli and mix well. Cover the pan and leave it for 2 minutes for resting time.
13. Serve Hot with rice.
