It’s so beautiful to see you loving our country and choose to be there because lots of countries they point out only things that miss to our country ... so seeing you loving it it makes me be even more grateful being from Albanian 🇦🇱
Am Planning of Visiting Albania by October for Tour. I hope my visa get granted because I can't afford to miss this beautiful country with Great tour and cultural experience
wow ! I hope to visit to Albania someday, great vid and glad to see you are enjoying your life there and has embraced their culture, very happy to hear it's safe for tourists there and are actually made to feel welcome.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us I was born in Lovina small village near Gjirokastra left at 17th to United States and now at my old age and being retired I want to go back and live there near Saranda
I've visited Kosovo a few times now (Prizren, Peja, Rugova), and I've loved it! I'm definitely hoping to visit Macedonia and Montenegro at some point too 😄
Google says Albania translated means "Sons of Eagles" and is the mother of Latin and Greek languages. I'd imagine their cultural values are of utmost importance, so let's hope that doesn't erode with the onslaught of tourism.
I have a question Ben. How did you meet your girlfriend? Was that the reason you moved to Albania? And i want to thank you for your very kind words about our country 🙏
Hi! Fiori and I both did our Master's degree at Oxford University in 2016-2017. That's where we met! I visited Albania with her for the first time in 2017, and I really loved it. We lived abroad together for a few years after that, but we decided to move to Tirana last year when the opportunity arose. So happy we did 😄
Great vid. I've heard Vlore is gorgeous. Since you mentioned language, and as I understand it few Albanians speak English, how have you dealt with this challenge?
Hi,am planning to move to Albanian with my family and work there,,,,,but people are discourage us,a friend my said that have language barriea that if you don't understand or speak ab Albanian it had to get a job,,,,, please advise me,since you have live there for long
Hi Ben, great video. I might be trying out Albania in the near future. Question for you...is the internet generally good enough for someone to work remotely from most locations?
I see you haven't got an answer yet. The Internet is quite good in Albania. You can find wi-fi even in the most smallest coffee shop and 99% of them are very safe to use. If you wanna have Internet all the time (mobile data) I recommend you Vodafone 🙂
If you end up staying there for a while I would recommend just getting internet hooked up to your home. It's very cheap and very fast too. I visit kosovo and I would assume it cost the same since they're both Albanian countries. It cost me 15 euros a month and to be honest to compare it to my American wifi here in the states the wifi in kosovo was faster. I never had an issue. The wifi here in the states it always cuts off and I pay 60 dollars a month.
6:28 lol. Every place has its bad apples, the country as a whole is a-ok. Beautiful footage. Valle is the most basic form of dancing, you'll do fine lol. Continued success.
Is this somewhere “safe” for POC to travel too? *controversial question - I know. But it’s a realistic question. I also understand no where is actually safe*
I am heading for Albania 🇦🇱 in January for 2 months. Any good pointers since I'll be there in their winter? I see it gets below 40°C on average so I assume beaches are not recommended... or are they?
Hi! Yeah it is definitely too cold to swim really from mid-October until May/June. However, it's still nice to visit the cities that are known for their beaches, since they aren't crowded at all during the winter. I think in the colder months, cities like Korca, Gjirokaster, and Berat tend to be more popular cities to visit, since you can still experience the culture and history there even in the cold :)
Ben i see you started your channel 2019. Random question by chance did you file a 1099 or formSE for taxes back in 2020 and or 2021 and receive your SETC. or know anyone that was self employed?
"To be honest Albania is a pretty safer to visit and live as a country in comparison from all the places here in the Philippines 🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱 hope I can go there after Covid pandemic .?!"
Has Albania been troubled by an influx of immigrants/refugees from Africa? I ask because I am planning to visit Albania in June. Being African, I am scared of visiting countries whose citizens have become unwelcoming towards people they see as unwelcome pests.
I am Albanian and I desperately want Albania to have a bit more tourists so people can give the country more recognition. Old stereotypes get in the way
I hope they will never join EU it's better not all EU countries are very expensive to live in . There is only a few cheap countries left like Albania together with Kosovo and Bosnia.
I really miss Albania. The people are incredibly hospitable and welcoming. I did a month cycle tour around the Balkans and Albania was definitely a highlight. Kosovo was fascinating and Montenegro was stunning, but Albania just had so much heart. And the food was perfect for cycle touring.
Hi there, I see you're a vegan, and so I was hoping you could tell me about what it's been like eating strictly vegan there. I actually am whole food plant based, so even more strict than vegan, but my husband and I really want to travel to Albania, as long as I can get the spinach I need daily. Would you please let me know your thoughts on this - thank you! Nancy
@@NancyLouHoo It is definitely possible to eat strictly vegan in Tirana, but it is very difficult in other cities. Many Albanians outside of Tirana don't really understand the idea of not eating meat, let alone dairy and eggs. Personally, I would not recommend Albania if you are very strict about a vegan diet and not willing to eat vegetarian food. It may be possible if you are cooking all of your own food, but eating mostly at restaurants can be tricky if you are 100% vegan. You can buy spinach here, so I'm guessing maybe you want to cook your own meals anyway.
Great video I had the same experience I felt very safe safer than Chicago where I live for sure, that tells me how fake the movie industry is, I loved the food, beautiful beaches, people are very nice loved it
Great video Ben! I am a retired Architect who trained an Albanian student. He took me back to his homeland on a tour and I can say I was blown away Let us hope that tourism doesnt destroy the innate beauty of this , so far, undiscovered part of the Balkans. A new airport is under construction in the south and a port underway near Durres. ( remember Dubrovnik and Venice before the cruise ships ?
Hey! Yeah the north is beautiful! I’m actually doing another north trip starting tomorrow. I’d recommend this route: Tirana to Komani Lake Ferry, Valbona, hike to Theth, Shkodra, Mrizi i Zanave (Lezhë), Kruja, back to Tirana. Though I’ll send you a DM on Instagram, because the hike is quite dangerous right now because of the snow, and driving can be difficult to sort out if you take the ferry 😄
