You have the most informative lessons. You know who you are. I know you are a blessing to all us RUclipsrs searching for a way to understand the guitar. I wish you much success. I hope you can deal with the inevitable negative comments so that they do not spoil this beautiful gift !
Awesome. I'm a theory-based thinker so it's hard for me to memorize stuff without understanding it. This is a great start. The only caveat to this approach is that the physical act of playing chords is extremely difficult and after 2 years I'm finally starting to almost be able to play barre chords. So, I understand why most teachers and students jump right into simple, repetitive harmonies with the "cowboy chords" that are the easiest to play. It's nearly impossible to have the patience to wait years until you start playing songs just so you have the basics down. That said, some folks adapt quickly (i.e.: children), but they also tend to be the ones with limited patience. Teaching skills that take many hours to learn must be daunting when students generally don't have the patience for it (I know I didn't which is why I'm now trying to learn guitar in my 50's).
I'm just starting this and I have a good feeling that I'm gonna have so much fun, your approach and delivery has me pretty excited, was looking for something like your channel for a very looooong time have a great day
Great lesson thanks, it was going to be more beneficial if you had chord diagrams that label the notes according to the finger that should be used on it. That is generally easier to comprehend. 1 being the index finger, 2 middle finger etc
Thanks, Ruben! Are there any specific topics that you're hoping to learn from the series? If so I'd love to know so I can make sure to do them justice as I build out the lessons. The ten-lesson curriculum as I've planned it so far is listed in the description. Thanks!
@@soundguitar that’s a big question. 😆 I’m just starting to get into neo jazz. Or anything jazzy that’s slow for me. I’m getting into all extensions above sevenths. Keep it up 👍
This was somewhat helpful to me because this was the only video I found that included all of the main chords major and minor which was what I needed. The only thing is that I am a violinist and I don't exactly know what the notes to each chord are.
I can find the triads in about 1,000 videos.. I want to know how to harmonize the major and minors with roots on the 6th string, with barre chords.. that would mean finding the diminished and minor 7 flat 5 with root on 6th string! I can not find that on youtube anywhere! WTF do you got against using the 6th string as root?
Yves H I am almost 85 and suffered a stroke Last October (2021) I suffer from loss of speech, some muscle weakness and memory loss. I watched some of your videos on RUclips and was amazed at your method of teaching. I am relearning to play guitar and I finnd your lessons very refreshing, stimulating and interesting! I have learnt more in the last few days and I can navigate the fretboard and understand you fret numbering easier. I am looking forward to learn from these videos. Thank you for makind these available for free includig the PDF's.
Believe me, he covers everything in subsequent videos and very clearly. His outstanding lesson on "shell voicings" is all about 6th-string and 5th-string roots. But all the lessons build on each other.

Thanks so much!! 🙏
This is the best way to learn. Use of less strings will be much easier, if and when required. Thanks.
Thanks, Stuart! :)

your chords sound so clean and bright .

I watched video 26 of the series first and decided to watch the entire series to fill in the holes that I have in my knowledge base.
Cool. Can’t wait for the advanced videos. 👍
