Ben Whishaw is the perfect Ariel. He is the Ariel I have imagined since I first read the play and saw a school production of it - over 50 years ago. Regarding Prospera - well, I suppose we just have to go with the flow..... To me Prospero will always be a kingly character, representing the man Shakespeare at the end of his career in the theatre. Ah well.
well, it's a good adaptation, given the fact that in such old times, it was the man's duty to marry his daughters in the family, to get her a good husband, with enough wealth to get a good dowry. But now times have changed, and now it's the mother duty to give and provide care of her children. In this context, it's a good adaptation that Prospero be made a loving mother. It fits perfectly with the times.
Before you can say, "Come" and "Go", And breathe twice, and cry, "So, so," Each one, tripping on his toe, Will be here with mop and [mow]1. [Do you love me, master? no?]
oh my goodness, the scene when prospera releases ariel and ariel starts to sing, why did that give me feels!??
Does anyone else find it sweet how he looks at them expressing their love before asking if Prospera loves him?

Its funny how Arial is a terrifying Harpy then he acts like such an innocent spirit.
I love Ariel!
Bought the whole thing now. Thank you.
