I am 61 years old. The first tractor I ever drove was a John Deere B. I miss the farm. My whole life is nothing but memories now. I admire Mr. Chorney.
I too started restoring things when I retired. 69 now. Not things as complicated as JD tractors though. Things like vintage pull wagons, BBQ carts, hand pumps ECT. It's a lot of fun and keeps me active.
Beautiful Machines that were put to work to feed our nation.....in the early Mid 1970s i operated a 49 row crop " A" just like the one in the video , way out in Eastern Washington state...alot of memories.
Very nice story of your John Deere tractors. I am a John Deere enthusiast as well. My Grandfather owned a 37 b on steel then a 49 mt which my Dad was given along with many implements now its mine.
Good for you. I'm a 5th generation dairy farmer. All my tractors and machinery are old or antiques. It's better quality and I can fix most of it myself. I'm getting a JD B tomorrow for $400. Seized engine and no back tires. It'll be one more project to get to this winter. Doing a head gasket job on grandpa's 1949 ford 8n, then going to do a head gasket on my 1977 ford 3000 before I get to the B. Many other things need to be fixed &/or built first.
When I was a kid 70 years ago we had a John Deere Model A, which I believe only had one cylinder, but it had a lot of torque. The only issue was the constant pounding of the engine noise which would give you a headache every time. Dad finally got rid of it and got a Farmall F-20.
Wrong again. Deere was good up till 2008 when the emissions came. They hit the peak during the 1900s and now all the tractors are the same regardless of color
