I found tritypes to be a life-changer. Love Katherine's new test. @t Learning the Enneagram opened my eyes to so many things. Knowing my enneagram type gave me a way to see my ego and reactivity. It was very helpful but I did not understand how to create the deeper change I wanted until I came upon the Tritypes.
Learning about the emotional needs created by the intersection of my 3 types in my tritype unlocked my heart. Then I could really grow and do the inner work needed to have true compassion beyond a concept. It gave me much greater compassion for the other Tritypes as well.
Knowing I am a 6 with the 468 tritype moved my knowledge from my head to my heart. Then I could act in accordance with my higher self. It added a level of detail that showed me the way I missed the mark and how my fear was cloaked in anger and reactivity. I could open to being a cp6.I gave me the tools to heal and grow as a person beyond the first knowledge the enneagram gives.
I just took Katherine's new tritype test and it got my type, tritype and instinctual stacking! It even notified me that I could be the 6. That is a first. I have never had a test able to do that. Try it out for yourself. @t

You still have your core type but if you watch the actual video, Fauvre and Fauvre explain that the reason they developed the tritype theory is because it helps to explain why people who may share the same core type can be so different to each other or why people who have different cores can be similar. It also helps to identify potential mistype problems. I for example typed as a 4 being 5w4 and 4w5 with 4 as second fix, making me seem and appear as extremely 4-ish.

This doesn't make much sense to me. So I have a primary type, a wing type, a growth type, an unhealthy type, AND a tritype??? So I have potentially seven different types. Can my wing also be a part of my tritype? What's the difference, and what would that add to the wing? Am I a 451 because I relate with the 5 and 1 in that one is a wing and one is for growth? This, for me, becomes too complicated, especially because I'm starting to believe that personality is a myth that we construct for ourselves and that we can supersede it when we get over ourselves and actually start living as beings and not as types. I still highly respect the Enneagram and use it but it can't be this complicated as it's only a construction of how you see yourself. Why all the complexity? You can't narrow a person down so exactly like "oh, we're different KINDS of 8s because tritype," no, they're different because they just are, and personality is more fickle and impermanent than we may believe.

+wildfirelwd3 You wrote: 'This is so inaccurate. If you actually read Riso and Hudson's work- you would know that you only have one type. '
However, I score equally as a 7 and 2. My fear is from 7 (to be trapped), my desire is from 2 (to be loved), my stress style is 8 (from 2) and my growth is 5 (from 7).
So your statement is completely accurate for me, in my experience, and therefore I do not agree we only have one type.

Simply put, we each have a head, heart and body. We draw intelligence and wisdom from all 3. The Tritype shows us the manner in which we do this. So as a 468, I use the heart center first, and like a 4, then my head center, and like a 6 and the my body/gut center last, and like an 8. That said, they are all running all the time. However as the ego confronts stress or a problem we find it will try the solutions of each Type in a preferred order. David

6w5-4w5-9w1, 6 with a lot of withdrawn tendencies. Very strong 5 wing (I have thought I was a 5w6 but now leaning toward 6w5). No wonder almost every test gives me high 4, 5, 6 (usually 5>6>4 though I score the highest on 4 on RHETI; but I think my central fear is the 6 fear) followed by mid-high 9 and 1 (similar scores between the two).

While not given the name of "tritype" I heard of this over 12 years ago from David Walsh. It was explained to me that while we have a dominant centre with a dominant number in that centre we also have all the centres embodied. Within each of these centres one of the numbers dominate, the other numbers in each centre are secondary or tertiary. I was fascinated by this when I heard it, and I look forward to see what these two individuals add.

Ah, this whole 4-wing-but-also-in-tritype thing also happened to me.
Test results kinda kept fluctuating between 5w4 and 4w5 but when I read up on it I came to conclude that I'm most likely a 5.
Presumably this amplified 4 thing also kept skewing my MTBI results, I'm mot definitely NOT an infp.... But since this might've comtributed to e being good at writing, I won't complain...

The vision of having a one and only type is quite simplistic and an insult for human complexity. We change, including our motivations and fears. Tritype makes sense and approaches it better. Not as better as understanding ourselves directly, without the numeric lens of the enneagram.

Second this. I'm a 548 and I did identify quite a bit with the woman who was a 451 but there was a definite disconnect with her gut fix. She was harsh and edgy in a way I'm not. Being 8w9 as gut I have a more gentle and protective way of being. It's also such a complex tritype it would be nice to hear i being discused in depth since 4, 5 and 8 all oppose each other.

    • @katherinechernickfauvre4704
      @katherinechernickfauvre4704 7 лет назад +4

Ok, just this one...As a very short example....
The 369 Tritype is the primary Tritype and the most amenable and adaptable of the 27. This Tritype includes the core type of each center of intelligence. The core of each center is seeking to balance the opposites within each center to create resolution.
So, the 3 is trying to manage the overall need to manage the fear of being ignored, the 6 is trying to manage the fear of fear itself and chaos and the 9 is trying to manage the fear of being overlooked and unimportant. Together, the focus is on creating, restoring and maintaining peaceful relating.
If your Tritype is the 369 it reinforces the primary issues. As a result, neutralizing conflict is a primary concern.
The 7 wing give the 6 a lighter touch and a desire to manage stress with quick witted, often self-deprecating humor. So, the 6w7 with the 639 is the friendly boy or girl next door that wants to engage with others as a means of survival This strategy is true even if the person is shy. The extroverted 639 still feels cautious or has doubts but the extraversion makes it easier to bridge their shyness by saying something funny and/or witty.

The extroverted 639 still feels cautious or has doubts but the extraversion makes it easier to bridge their shyness by saying something funny and/or witty. The introverted 639 uses their shy smile to overcome their shyness and engage others.
The self-preserving 639 is preoccupied with their physical needs. They focus on their sense of security and what will keep them feeling safe, nurtured, and comfortable. They tend to worry about everything associated with their essential needs, focusing on the demands of their home, job, pension, and family, etc. Being disarming and friendly are tools of the trade for the self-preserving 6. And a friendly, and socially acceptable partner may be considered just as important as a good job as both reinforce that they have what they need in times of uncertainty. As such, they monitor their physical needs and resources to gage if they are safe and secure. To maintain a sense of well being they may also track the physical needs of their designated other(s). This can be exhausting and feel difficult to manage so they often keep their world small, letting in only one person or a trusted few.
The social 639 is preoccupied with their place or position within the group(s) of their choosing. Their group needs to be considered socially acceptable and their partner needs to be considered friendly and successful to insure and maintain the security that comes from status. They focus on being dutiful and supportive to the people, beliefs, values and/or creeds they have chosen to align with. As such, they monitor who is doing what with whom and whether or not feel included and secure. To maintain their security they seek a role or position within their group(s) and family system to insure they have others that will come to their aid should they need it. They see themselves as dedicated and loyal to the people in their lives. They instinctively shape shift and become what their others need in order to be deemed worthy of admiration and protection.
The sexual 639 is preoccupied with selecting and/or being a desirable alpha mate. They manage their fears and anxiety by jumping into situations that cause distress proving to themselves that they are strong enough to manage whatever feels threatening. They are more intense and counter-phobic than the self-preserving and social 6. They seek intensity and chemistry in their intimate relationships and tend to push the edge in whatever they do. They can move from fear to action in nano seconds when they have already projected a worst-case scenario and prepared for it.
They focus on being strong and/or beautiful enough to attract a desirable mate that will stand beside them and protect them when they feel insecure. Strength may mean physical strength and beauty or can be defined as someone that is extremely smart and competent. Ideally, they want their mate and close friends to be extraordinary in some way they feel they are not. As such, they may choose a mate that they think is smarter than most so that they feel they have all of their bases covered. To that end, they adapt to what their mate or partners want to insure they have their special someone that will stand together with them against an uncertain world.

But remain who I am. "The Truth Teller". So many have made me feel so shameful of this, but now I know it is who I am and what makes the world go around. all of our differences are how we are the same. Don't know if that made much sense, but that is how I view it now. :D

Perhaps you don't know enough of the history of the Enneagram. Ichazo was the creator of the Enneagram of Personality. He came up with Tri-fix just the way Katherine's research lead her to Tritype. She went to intensives with both Ichazo and Naranjo and is certified with Riso and Hudson and Palmer and Daniels and Hurley and Dobson. I believe David is certified with Riso and Hudson as well.
Sadly, Don died in 2012. Try her new test and see what you think. www.enneagramtritypetest.com
