  • Hello Friends! Here is a semi quick video/test run, where I am showing you how to use your Presto Canner. In this video I am canning water as a quick tutorial. Just to help you get over those first time jitters. By the way, I think everyone is a bit petrified when we first start pressure canning, I promise you it passes!! So join me for a quick test run.

    Thank you for the video. I have the same canner and tried doing this test run. Used a 16oz jar and (4) 8oz jars filled with water. Did 75 mins at 10lbs. I am at 400ft above sea level. The 16oz lid sealed and one 8oz sealed. The other 3 jars did not. Tried with 1” of headspace and 3/4” of headspace with no luck. Thoughts as to why? Thanks in advance.

      Where they tightened correctly? Sometimes you are going to have some misses. The lids over the past two years are not as good as they used to be. What brand of lids are you using? Did you heat them up prior to using them? I know they say you don’t have to heat them anymore, I always do.

      @@SarahSmith-qx7fl they were finger tight, as other videos recommended. They are actual Ball brand. I did not heat them up. I can try that again.
