Some of you don't get it because youre not really listening which is his point and exactly why he released the lyrics. "Degredition so loud that you can't hear the sound of our cries". There's a powerful message behind the "muffled" sound if people would actually pay attention. '1000 Deaths', 'The Charade', 'Til It's Done', 'Prayer' are all somewhat indecipherable for a reason.

The production on this album was insane. He overdubbed his voice in different styles and with different singers. It's very rare to find such a mature and deep album. Hope he continues to put out content.

You know how good this album and song is? This studio version is way too short compared to the insane live versions floating around for the past few years, but I'm not even upset or disappointed. D is knocking it out of the park.

D to me, is another representation of Prince. He's not better NOR greater than him, but he DOES do good with how he is. If Prince is God, D is undoubtedly Jesus. Thats how i feel.

Unlike today's popular RnB - very analog (no digital enhancements on vocals; no cut & paste; no looping; live instrumentation; very "dry"). It's reminiscent of Me'shell Ndegeocello's "Plantation Lullabies" in that regard. Like that album, I had to put on the head phones to appreciate it. Thank you D'Angelo - love it!!
