This is an element of the charm of TI that I think is going to be killed dead with this new 4-weekend format that Valve has put out. With such big gaps between periods of play, I feel like any momentum will be broken by the 3-4 day break inbetween, and although it will possible open up the tournament more to teams changing their strategies between weekends, it'll also be much harder for any one team to stay ahead of the curve when other bigger teams with larger backroom staff teams are given more time to break down a Dark Horse's strategy. Really keen for Valve to return to the 1-week format for next TI.

OG dark horse? Man, N0tail himself is one of the players who won most Majors. Sure, not much people expected them to even reach top 4 that TI, but i don't think they could be considered as dark horse. CDEC is the best dark horse in history, no one knew them, and at the wild cards it was that kind of team from which you wouldn't be surprised if they didnt win a single game on the entire tournament. i would like to see something like that happen again, it was amazing.

Pre-TI predictions have OG finishing in the bottom (granted, they stomped the qualifiers, so there should be a team or two below them in predictions).

Don't forget Alliance, or NoTidehunter. They were the only dark horse team to even win a Ti. They started out only 5 months before Ti3, as NoTidehunter, but managed to stay of the radar of big teams of the time, like IG, Orange, Navi, etc.
Its crazy that every TI, people will remember two teams: the winning team and that years "dark horse", sometimes its even the same team LOL. DC, Ad Finem, OG, Spirit, all legendary TI runs.
Team Spirit is ultimate sleeper team. No TI experience. Relatively new team in assembly and history. Seeded so low. Champions. In their journey they beat two TI champs, one which is considered the best team of all time. Experienced how to sweep and how to comeback. Destroyed the scariest strategy (Tiny Lycan)by the scariest team, and used their own to the fullest (Magnus horn toss). They played their hearts out.
This is the reason I cheer for underdogs. Not only it feels so good to slap their haters in the face when they win, the euphoria they and (usually) the crowd radiated is addicting, and always cemented as a legendary moment.
