- Human rights organizations have appealed to the Canadian government to address the escalating attacks on minority communities in India, specifically regarding forced conversions supposedly carried out by people of other faiths in certain parts of the country against Muslims, Christians and other minority religions. Concerns regarding Sikh Canadians, including prominent community leaders, media personalities and politicians being denied Indian visas have also been raised and believed to be due to criticisms of India’s human rights record.

What does India's affairs have to with Canada? This has always puzzled me about Jagmeet Singh. There are more then enough issues to be tackled here at home. I agree that it is important to speak out against inequality and persecution of minorities. However inequality and persecution is not limited to India. We see it here at home with the over representation of Black and Aboriginal communities in the Criminal Justice System. We see it in The U.S.A with young black kids being gunned down by police officers. Jagmeet does not seem to come out and speak up against the prejudice in the country he is vying for leadership in, so why constantly criticize a another country.

I live in delhi and have many many Sikh friends. We have never had problems. I am a Hindu Bengali. I have never felt that the Sikh here have any issues either. We should investigate and find out more abt the 1984 incident. I was a little kid then. There were many families in our area who hid many Sikhs in their garages to keep them safe. What does this imply. Both that v love them and some in our community might harm them...but some!! Anyone who knows the issue of khalistan knows how Pakistan played an important role in that. There r verified leaks of them now. In fact during partition one should also educate themselves about the genocide of Sikhs by Muslims. Of course...the Sikhs also responded. The r no issues between any religions in India. One can very easily find a Muslim, Sikh, Hindu and a christian sitting together gossiping. To give u an example...I have two sisters. I am marries to a Bengali Hindu girl. One of my sisters is married to a Bengali Christian the other to a south Indian from Bangalore, Karnataka. Things have changed rapidly. There r still issues...but I think most is due to politics and in small villages due to lack of education!!

Because Sikhs actually took a stand for themselves when Indira backstabbed a whole religion that has given so much for the predominate religion in India which is Hinduism. I think the answer would be to have some sort of state independence while still being connected to India. When people got tired of genocide and fake police encounters by the government, they decided that they wanted their own nation.
