Thanks so much Marina. I have tried the Job Bank and I received about 7 invitation but I am not there so the employers don’t continue but that gives a positive feeling. Adjusting your resume to compliment the ad, works! I never apply for a job temporarily, mentally and realistically it’s wasting my time and the employer’s time and it does not fit well with your reputation and character.
Another good information video. You are helping not only newcomers but nation-born Canadians and USA born also. My son has a bachelor's degree in digital-visual arts and business and was thinking of going for his master's. Also thank you for the information on how to rent to own. When I purchased my house I had to jump through so many loopholes. I was a nurse and a widow with a handicapped son. Your program would have helped a lot.
Good job Marina, This will help so many people own their own homes and build their credit. I watched this on Saturday, not Sunday. Your Sunday people with be excited when they see this.
I did an IG live today and touch on this subject. Check the description box for my handle and follow me there. Might be hard to do a video on it but I will see what I can do with that.
Thanks for this information Marina. I am happy Canada is opening up to skills and certificates from foreign trained professionals. I really found the information on tailoring CV to the kind of Job one is applying for and the languages to put in the resume very useful. Well done and keep up the good job
My last question is that if a career coach says going for certification courses to land roles in Canada is not necessary and another influencer is saying masters isn’t necessary in landing a job, what do you think a first comer should do in getting better jobs.
Random certificates are detrimental. You should only take certifications after you have established the skill gap you are trying to fill. I don't know the context of what that influencer was saying so I can't advise. But for me, a skills audit is the first step to determine where you are and what you need
So I am really getting confused here, you said masters is not necessary for landing roles in Canada or pivoting to another career, but I have seen people coming for full time MBA in this Canada and North America to be specific, and landing jobs in global firms. Infact, these global firms target them for associate roles a lot! Also people coming to Canada for Masters to change the trajectory. So are you saying it doesn’t work?
Please watch the video again. This is not for people who came here as international students. This is for people who have landed as PRs and are taking the masters solely to find a job. That alone will not work.
For someone who studies industrial and labour relations, what course or necessary steps to remain relevant in canada as a new immigrate. Thanks for your quick response.
Nice one Ma ,this video really opened my eyes .Prior to now,i was looking out for a master’s degree in Canada but the resources involved is way too outrageous.I want to get an Administrative job in Canada ,please where do i start from ? Online application does me no good, they keep rejecting me . Thank you
Marina, I almost made this mistake. I applied to schools, and they even gave me admission, but what I did was that I kept applying for a job in my field. Lo and behold, I got a job, and those schools keep calling, but I don't care. I am happy with my new job. I will do a degree if it is needed to help me become registered in my field. My goal is to become registered in my field. It is a long process, but I will get there.
You will need to figure out what the long term career path looks like first. Is a masters degree really needed for that profession? If it is, then you can proceed. All the best!
Hello, your video is really very interesting. Then I would humbly like to ask. Is it possible to change the DLI from one province to another province while I am in Canada but before starting studies without applying Study permit again? Thanks
Another question I want to ask is this, I see that you went back to school again after the first time, for another certificate, what necessitated it again? I thought the first one should suffice. Why did you have to go back to school again?
No, the second certificate I just finished is in a different area from the first because of my career progression. I will do another video about the program and why I took it soon!
I love to be registered as one of the intentional gang ,are other payment channels for the intentional gang membership? My bank is declining the card payment
Thanks for sharing Marina. I have a question to ask, my family and I are planning to relocate to Canada via the study route next year. My husband is a plumber, do you think he can easily get a job over there and what certification does he need to have ?
Skills trades are in high demand. There may be a few certifications that he will need to complete to be able to work here because there are codes that guide some pluming jobs so he will need to train in that. The courses are offered through the skills and trades centre and it should not be hard to get in.
It will depend on the kind of role you are applying for. If you were a pension manager for instance, you will be bale to apply for pension specialist. You can then highlight your experience as requested by the job description. does this help?
Thanks so much, Marina for this insightful video. Please in a situation where the job advert says under experience 'will train' am I supposed to still include any work experience I have related to the job or how do I go about that in my resume? Hope to get a response from you. Thank you
What exactly are they asking for? Is it entry level? How well does your profile match what they are asking for? How about the other requirements of the role, do you qualify? I will need some more context to advise on that
@@MARINAESIRI yes, I qualify for the job, what they listed as the job requirements is what I currently do and it seems like an entry job though since they wrote 'will train' under experience. That's actually what I need clarification on. Thank you
Hi Marina, I have an online business here in Nigeria and that's what I would like to continue doing when I move to Canada please how do I start an online business in Canada?
Thanks so much for this video Marina. Someone advised me to get a masters degree in my field to have an opportunity to work with the government. What’s your take on that? Thanks in advance ❤
I work with the government and all my education is from Nigeria before relocating to Canada. Yes I have a masters degree but was it a requirement for me to get my current job? The answer is NO. So for me that’s not really necessary…..
What field is that? When you search for the jobs advertised by the government, is a masters degree a requirement? if it is not, then please abort mission. If it is, then you will need to consider if it is the worth that amount of sacrifice. can you consider getting in with a lesser position and working your way upwards? The government provides education support to staff. You may end up getting the masters at little or no cost to you. Be strategic. We can chat more about this.
Marina thank you for this Video. Talking about entering with a lower position. Is it possible to enter as an Intern when you are not a study that is if the entry level position isn't available.
Marina thank you for the video. What I meant is it possible to apply for an Internship position if you are not a student while trying to start your career with a low level then climb from there.
Hi Marina. Please, what's your take on this issue? I have a long-pending study permit application with IRCC but they've already flagged my bank statements, and after replying them since December they're yet to make their final decision. Now I am interested in working in Canada as a teacher, do you think I can go ahead and apply, not minding my study permit application with the IRCC?
@adazion83 those two are not used for the same job roles here in canada. So, you will need to check the job roles for each here to determine what Canada calls what you have been doing
@@ChristieSpursthank you so much for your response to my first question. I have checked out the job role and I perform the both coming from Nigeria, so my question now is can I go for Masters in Human Resource Management?
@ADANNA PHILOMENA Ononiwu (aka Adazion83) No that's not necessary, from the video she said it will be better to do a skill audit and find the gap in skills you are lacking between your current role and intended role.
Hi Philomena, the answer is yes and no. Did you do any core HR functions while you were an admin officer? If yes, then you can adjust your job title to reflect that. If you didn't, then you cannot interchange both. I am aware that some companies in Nigeria can have admin officers doing HR functions so if that was the case, you can say you have done HR work.

Very strategic information and coming at right time. Marina many people immigrate to Canada through school but not that they necessarily need that certificate. I would like to know if you immigrate to Canada through school and you later change your mind that you won't go to school again, won't that create problems for you? Or what is the proper way of going about it. Please help, your advice is needed. Thank you
Thanks Richard. This video was specifically for people who have landed as PRs an not as international students. For your question, you cannot abscond from the program you were admitted into. If you change your mind about continuing, the you will legally be required to leave the country. Except you become a PR in the process and you decide not to complete it. Even that, you will need to properly notify the school of your change of status.
