I thought i was crazy for collecting beautiful table wear. I'm in heaven watching this episode.
Honestly, you guys, at the risk of sounding so corny, I love these videos. It has been an early, unseasonably cold and grey winter in northwestern Michigan - and your videos are inspiring me tremendously. THANK YOU, ALEX - for reminding me to use everything I have. My grandmother taught me that decades ago, and so I just dug her old china out of the basement to mix with my collections. Colorful! She was much more contemporary in the 1950's than I am now, and it looks great together. I'm retired now, living on a fixed income - but I went out in the yard and cut greens from the pines and red berries from the Hawthorn tree to decorate the table...I am going to start entertaining again for the first time in 30-40 years. Keep them coming, please!

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! Blue and white is my favorite color combination for dining and, Alex has a beautiful collection of blue and white pieces. The way he combines them with brown is lovely. Romancing everyday items and tasks is a wonderful philosophy.

This is the second time i've enjoyed watching this video of George P. his beautiful home is so warm, welcoming, and elegant. Wow, that bedroom that you stayed in looked luxurious and comforting on a cold winter night. How lucky were you, MS. Goldilocks!
The table setting was perfection as always. Mr. P. Has quite a wonderful life!
The closing scene having the talk by the fireplace was cozy and intimate, it really gave us the sense of winter. I imagined the smell of wood burning and the comforting heat of the fireplace.
There was a slight technical problem that was bothersome, the crackling of the burning wood drowned out GP's voice. But these are probably one time takes and you had to go with it. Otherwise this was a beautiful video that you presented. Thank you for sharing!

I keep this video in my rotation and in 2022, I’m still taking tips from it. Alex has such great advice for those starting out. I, too, hadn’t looked at salt and peppers as a table accessory but I do now and added a couple of quail and bird sets to go with my botanical and chinoiserie dishes. LOVE these videos!

This led me on quite a journey: I decided to look for china at an auction house and when I clicked on one, I saw a very familiar piece of furniture. It was my outdoor furniture that my great aunt had bought in the 50's that my parents inherited. No one liked it, but I thought it was pretty groovy. Turns out it was designed by Walter Lamb. I was able to auction it off and it paid for the remodeling of my entire back yard AND a new set of outdoor furniture! So, thank you!
I still haven't bought that china... but with the COVID lockdown, I haven't had the opportunity to entertain!

Bonjour Ladies ! Wow, that, to me, is a Quintessence Christmas gift : a new video featuring my fav. decorator. Why ? Because he loves dishes and I think he is the one that set the most gorgeous tables ! This afternoon, I went to a flee market and I came around fantastic bleu glasses ; although I am starting to have not enough space to store all my dishes collection, I bought them ; I am so glad that I did, especially after looking at Alex's beautiful table setting ! A rug pad for your placemats! I'm going to direct my friends and family to this video the next time someone tells me I'm extra. lol Susanna, I loved your question at the end about stepping up your tabletop even if you don't have the time, storage, budget or inclination. One of the ways I first started out rounding out my basic white china was to add beautiful salad plates. They're easy to store and can be more affordable so you can change up the look by having several different sets. At 7:45 I love the brass push button light switches in the background. My grandmother has them with a mother of pearl inlay and I've always loved them. Thanks for another wonderful video!

I actually don't love main courses on patterened plates, I find it a little distracting. Its odd because I hate anything mundane or modern but I do like white plates or just border patterned plates for entrees. Patterns are great for dessert, bread or salad plates though.
What a lovely early Christmas present! I admire Alex's style and collections so much and that he uses everything all the time is wonderful ... I myself used some terrific Crown Derby this afternoon for a salami sandwich, no joke! Great and inspiring video...loved every minute !! xo W
