Good idea. You’re gonna want to research the desirable features of a working horse barn anyway . You could put out a request for people’s suggestions of what features they like in their barns and what they would change when you ask for photo submissions.
I have an alternative solution for fungus gnats! I struggled with a terrible infestation for almost a year trying everything from sand, neem oil, mosquito bits, to sticky traps. I couldn't afford the gnatrol bucket either. But my local garden center suggested watering my plants with a 1:3 hydrogen peroxide(3%) to water ratio. It worked! I let my plants dry out, watered them with the hydrogen peroxide solution along with the sticky traps for the adults and within 3 weeks they were almost gone. I did alternate waterings between the hydrogen peroxide solution and regular water or fertilizer depending on the plants requirements. But after 2 months they were completely gone (it's been 4 months now and they are still gone)! And the best part is hydrogen peroxide is easily accessible and affordable!
I agree it worked for me but I used on some ivy plants that went belly up afterwards! Not sure if that is what killed them but just wanted to warn you that it happened to me!
I bought a small amount of gnatrol from Gardener’s Workshop, last year. Worked great! But they are not carrying it this year. I have fungus gnats multiplying again, so I bought a small bag on eBay… I hope it works. I mixed some up yesterday, and used it. It had to be shaken up continually, to keep it from settling into a brown sludge at the bottom. I don’t remember that happening last year. Hmm. Anybody have experience with this?
I have no problem if you eat dirt my issue is when you call the ambulance I then have to pay for your experiments. Same for smokers and plastic surgery addicts. I wouldn't care about your choices if you weren't clogging up hospital beds when my grandma needed it because of her osteoporosis.
Although you’re right about “everyone worries too much about every little thing.” it’s the accumulation of the all the little things that compounds into bigger something’s. Makeup, cleaning agents, processed foods, electro magnetic pulses, ie phones, computers, power plants, cell tower, water, fertilizer, bunker fuels ie Chemtrails, wood clues, furniture glues, stuff they treat furniture with, the list could go on and on about harmful substances we ingest and inhale everyday. So I agree we shouldn’t worry, but I suggest we become more proactive in eliminating toxins as much as we can, by purchasing cleaner products, and made in the USA, that are non chemical, like cleaning, and personal care products and so much more. So it’s not the little stuff, it’s the little stuff compounded.

Meteorologist here...measuring the snow for a weather station is always going to be inaccurate. You have to think of the snow to liquid ratio....which can change from system to system. Is it heavy wet snow vs. dry. The way people official do is put a out a piece of white board in the lawn (not near a tree or too close to the home, away from areas that get drifts) and they just take the measurement and wipe it clean daily.
Don't be afraid to show the snow falls you are getting, here in Australia we are in the middle of summer heatwaves eg 40 + C degrees, therefore seeing your snow is wonderful. Thanks for your videos.❤
Regarding contaminated snow, I have to chuckle there’s so much contamination in our foods, water and air and it’s been there longer than we’ve been alive!!! Chill people take the precautions that are good for you and live and let live🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰🥰
I started to add the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to the water when I water plants. Just 3-4 tablespoons per quart I'd say. Anyway, doing this is the first year I have NOT had fungus gnats in my amaryllis pots. I used to mix it up by the gallon and used it up over a couple weeks. But I think it needs to be a FRESH mix of water that gets used up right away. It even works great for spraying ON the plants to help get rid of whiteflies and other pests. Formula for that is 1/4 cup HP to one quart of water.

You have a barn that is empty. Park your golf carts etc in there. Or utilize it for storage and then you would have room in the big barn. I would keep it just for that! It would be a great storage space!
In my town, Inver Grove Heights, we have a wonderful family that measured snow depth by Barbie Doll. At the beginning of the snow season the set up a table with the Barbie standing in the middle. Then they post pictures of Barbie at the end of every accumulating snowfall...not scientific but it works. The on line community reminds them when a snowfall is coming. Being Minnesota in normal years we can have Barbies head go under. Then as it melts she reappears. So they monitored by before and after shots. Normally the mounds on the patio furniture is how Minnesota follows snow depth but Barbie adds some fun.
Laura, winter is strawberry season in Florida! And our strawberries are FABULOUS! However, the strawberry farmers have to turn their sprinkler systems on at 32 degrees to save the plants from being killed.

Sweet snow memories... When I was a child in St.Louis, everyone in our neighborhood had coal furnaces. My dad ( former farmer) would go out and scrape the coal soot off the snow to make snow cream. Lol. We're still ok.

I had to laugh when you were talking about "Snow Cream" as we called it in West Virginia. When I moved to South Carolina people had never heard of it. Of course they generally do not get enough snow here to make it. I remember my mother always made us wait for the second snow before we could make Snow Cream. She felt the first snow would clean the air. Then the second snow would not have the dirt and grit in it. Also, we got enough snow that we could get nice clean snow (always avoid the "Yellow Snow."
Reminds me of the time years ago I was showing my roommate how to make snow ice cream in Utah. We got way too much snow so we threw the left over snow in the bath tub. My indoor cat had the habit of getting in the bathtub to lick the drips from the leaky tap. (He had never experienced snow before). All of a sudden we heard a blood curdling scream. The poor cat was so shocked when he landed on that snow - he couldn’t tell it was there in the bathtub in the dark, it scared the crap out of him.
Before destroying that cute red barn on the new property, consider using it as a back up storage area. Snowblower, seasonal implements, overstocked or seldom used items, Christmas lights...thus thinning out some of the storage space in the barn for more current/constant needs.
I know! I like to watch her “work” like shoveling, etc. I like watching her clean an area before and after a project. For instance, she’ll wash area the window boxes and use the leaf blower. It helps me to stay neat too. 🌸
Hi Laura and Aaron! LOL's, on the snow shoveling comments. I shoveled my driveway for years early in the a.m. so I could get out for work. When I turned 65, I finally hired someone to plow my driveway! Nice to know Aaron wanted us to know that. I guess chivalry still exists. Just a side note, you mention instructional type videos. I would love that. One suggestion I would have is, how do you make and keep a nice cut edge flower bed. I have tried, I never can get my edge straight, not sure how deep to go down, then how to get that slope toward the flowers. It would be so much cheaper, and it looks so nice, but I just haven't got it yet.

Laura, I did the same thing to my jacket with a fur hood🤦🏼♀️. I used a blow dryer (on high) to blast the fur and it detangled it beautifully! Hope this helps❤

Never doubt the garden videos are worthy! In one of your first couple of videos, there was an out building painted the most lovely color of brown. In that instant I knew EXACTLY with what to paint my utility building. It is gorgeous to me and I have never, ever looked back.

My grandparents had what they called a "driving shed," which essentially was a 3-sided covered area that housed the farm attachments and lawn tractor. Over the years, if they needed more covered areas, they would build onto either end. Just an idea! ❤ love your channel! Thank you for continuing to do what you do 🎉
I don't know why, but chickens are attracted to white. They love pecking white styrofoam. Mine while freeranging would love eating white geranium flowers and white azalea flowers (but not these plant leaves).

We were stationed in South Dakota for three years. While I don't love the cold I LOVED getting out of the house and shoveling snow! I had small kids at the time and it was a great opportunity to get outside with some time to myself and exercise during the cold snowy months.

When I was a kid we always had snow ice cream in the rare occasion we had snow. I guess it didn’t hurt me because I’m 80 yrs old now. As regards to stuff in the air contaminating the snow- well you are already breathing it and it’s probably less toxic to eat it than to breathe it into your lungs where it just stays.
I'm currently re-watching your garden shed and greenhouse inspiration videos. They're so great! And all the beautiful gardens surrounding them are so lovely to see (again). Have you considered doing a barn/stable inspiration video. I know you have quite a few horse people following you, myself included. I'd love to see what people have done with their barns. 5:25 for the person, asking this question I have had fungus gnats. Inside the house and in the greenhouse, and what I do is I water them with a Neem oil mixture. Doesn’t hurt the plant takes care of the problem.

25.18 - shoveling snow and using a snow blower. I saw a news article where someone in my local area used a snow blower because it was such a dry, fluffy snow. I don't own a snow blower so I used my leaf blower and it worked like a charm. FYI - thinking outside the box for the win!

Hi~ So happy you mentioned our 🌴Florida Strawberries! 🍓 When I first moved down here from up north, I was fascinated watching the news showing the farmers turning the sprinklers on as the temp dropped below 32° to allow an ice shell form on the berries to protect them. They were always the sweetest, too! Looking forward to our Strawberry Festival.🍓

Sweet snow memories...
When I was a child in St.Louis, everyone in our neighborhood had coal furnaces. My dad ( former farmer) would go out and scrape the coal soot off the snow to make snow cream. Lol. We're still ok.
Snow ice cream is delicious! A wonderful childhood memory for myself and my children! I’m from Ga so we get snow very little but when we do… we will enjoy a little bit of ice cream 🎉😊❤

Canadian here and shoes off at the door is mandatory. Oh my god snow, sand and whatever all over the house in our winters 😮. Bring your slippers but no boots or shoes in the house ever.

I had to laugh when you were talking about "Snow Cream" as we called it in West Virginia. When I moved to South Carolina people had never heard of it. Of course they generally do not get enough snow here to make it. I remember my mother always made us wait for the second snow before we could make Snow Cream. She felt the first snow would clean the air. Then the second snow would not have the dirt and grit in it. Also, we got enough snow that we could get nice clean snow (always avoid the "Yellow Snow."
Reminds me of the time years ago I was showing my roommate how to make snow ice cream in Utah. We got way too much snow so we threw the left over snow in the bath tub. My indoor cat had the habit of getting in the bathtub to lick the drips from the leaky tap. (He had never experienced snow before). All of a sudden we heard a blood curdling scream. The poor cat was so shocked when he landed on that snow - he couldn’t tell it was there in the bathtub in the dark, it scared the crap out of him.
Before destroying that cute red barn on the new property, consider using it as a back up storage area. Snowblower, seasonal implements, overstocked or seldom used items, Christmas lights...thus thinning out some of the storage space in the barn for more current/constant needs.

I know! I like to watch her “work” like shoveling, etc. I like watching her clean an area before and after a project. For instance, she’ll wash area the window boxes and use the leaf blower. It helps me to stay neat too. 🌸
Hi Laura and Aaron! LOL's, on the snow shoveling comments. I shoveled my driveway for years early in the a.m. so I could get out for work. When I turned 65, I finally hired someone to plow my driveway! Nice to know Aaron wanted us to know that. I guess chivalry still exists.
Just a side note, you mention instructional type videos. I would love that. One suggestion I would have is, how do you make and keep a nice cut edge flower bed. I have tried, I never can get my edge straight, not sure how deep to go down, then how to get that slope toward the flowers. It would be so much cheaper, and it looks so nice, but I just haven't got it yet.

I enjoy your channel so much. It was quite a surprise when you mentioned the Mosser Lee product today. I live 10 miles from the company and I realize I need to learn more about them. It is located in a town with only 150 people. One of the owners graduated from High School with my husband. Small world.

My mom always made us snow ice cream when we were kids but she never used the first couple of snowfalls and she always made sure it was well over 6”
Laura, I did the same thing to my jacket with a fur hood🤦🏼♀️. I used a blow dryer (on high) to blast the fur and it detangled it beautifully! Hope this helps❤
I have actually used a "cat brush" gingerly while still damp to refluff.

Never doubt the garden videos are worthy! In one of your first couple of videos, there was an out building painted the most lovely color of brown. In that instant I knew EXACTLY with what to paint my utility building. It is gorgeous to me and I have never, ever looked back.

My grandparents had what they called a "driving shed," which essentially was a 3-sided covered area that housed the farm attachments and lawn tractor. Over the years, if they needed more covered areas, they would build onto either end. Just an idea! ❤ love your channel! Thank you for continuing to do what you do 🎉
I don't know why, but chickens are attracted to white. They love pecking white styrofoam. Mine while freeranging would love eating white geranium flowers and white azalea flowers (but not these plant leaves).

I’m 65 with a bad back. I shovel. Ppl are always saying why isn’t your husband out doing it? Well he works in another city from 6am-5pm. Like you Laura. We don’t usually get too much. We get the chinook winds and it all melts. My boots last forever also. lol

I enjoy your videos and we are having the lemon, rosemary, chicken this week 😊 I live in Georgia and I wish we had "dry snow" like we had in Colorado.Our southern snow is very "icy" and if we get 1 in. or less, the roads are impassable to ANY type vehicle!!& everyone up north laughs at us. If you throw a Colorado snowball at someone,it just softly dissolves , but if you throw a Georgia snowball at someone it will kill them!! 😂 (Thanks for letting me vent)❤️❤️

Well I'll say people on East Coast just are too in a hurry to be driving snowy roads maybe. But the tractor trailer accident few years ago ought to make one think if they in a slick Rd area. I'll never Forget watching it . BLACK ICE !!! And just that quick. Slid went off the overpass and blew up !!! The world had to of seen it!
We have a snow blower. It seldom gets used. Most of the time the snow is minimal and a battery operated leaf blower works great.

We were stationed in South Dakota for three years. While I don't love the cold I LOVED getting out of the house and shoveling snow! I had small kids at the time and it was a great opportunity to get outside with some time to myself and exercise during the cold snowy months.

When I was a kid we always had snow ice cream in the rare occasion we had snow. I guess it didn’t hurt me because I’m 80 yrs old now. As regards to stuff in the air contaminating the snow- well you are already breathing it and it’s probably less toxic to eat it than to breathe it into your lungs where it just stays.

5:25 for the person, asking this question I have had fungus gnats. Inside the house and in the greenhouse, and what I do is I water them with a Neem oil mixture. Doesn’t hurt the plant takes care of the problem.

I live in Minnesota we do SNOW. If it is a dry snow use a leaf blower. It works great! ❤

25.18 - shoveling snow and using a snow blower. I saw a news article where someone in my local area used a snow blower because it was such a dry, fluffy snow. I don't own a snow blower so I used my leaf blower and it worked like a charm. FYI - thinking outside the box for the win!
