Could not agree more. Thank you for bringing this, Muzammil. After having interaction with my CSS batch, I can safely say all the degrees and even these CSS exams do not teach you any skill; all they do is make you remember things of which 90% are useless when you are in service.

It's not true. The thing is our priorities. The level of service you can provide to your people while having done CSS or in Army or being a doctor are unmatchable. If you are a good businessman, still you can serve your people by giving jobs.
So no comparison, everyone is unique in his own way.

Hi. I really like how you are bringing real people with various topics here. Your show, It's like 1 hour of pure wisdom podcast. Unlike many shows that only bring celebrities from media where they talk about their luxury and lifestyle. And our generation happily waste their time and then face depression and anxiety. But your show? It gives WISDOM. Like how we can be a better human, and more productive. Thank you!

He is not against education. He is against ratta. Therefore you need people like Azad to make people think and shake up the education system, so that it generates people who could think and innovate and set up, grow and run multinational companies and start exporting. By questioning universities he is making them more competitive and commercially viable in the long run. I have been a Software Development Manager and a Software Release Manager in the leading multinationals in the UK for over 20 years. I work as a contractor and go into multinational companies, take over their IT departments and restructure their IT departments, train their staff, move their software into the cloud, implement devops and implement automated testing and automate their software development, testing and delivery processes and then move onto the next company.
If you have multi million pound projects with extremely tight deadlines, then you need people who have used that technology before and could show you actual examples of what they have developed in the past using that technology. You develop a job spec, that you post on a job site and then test the candidates to ensure that they have those skills. Put a computer in front of them and ask them to develop a solution during an interview. If you recruit an unskilled person without the practical skills then your project will fail and you will loose millions of pounds. Therefore candidates need to look at job sites and learn the newest technologies that are the most highly demanded and therefore the most highly paid and develop practical skills in those.
      www.cwjobs.co.uk/jobs/contract
      www.jobsite.co.uk/jobs/contract/
      www.jobserve.com
Learn the latest technologies, that are the most highly paid for contract jobs or remote working.
IT contracting jobs are the most highly paid. To learn about IT contracting go through this web site:
      www.contractoruk.com/
If you learn a brand new technology like Machine Learning in cloud computing, then you are competing with less people and even they will have only a few months experience, as the technology is new. If you learn an old technology like Main Frames then you are competing with people with decades of experience and you will not find a job.
To become an Engineer or a Doctor you need a degree. I have an Engineering degree from a leading university (where they taught lots of Maths, Logic and philosophy to encourage you to think and problem solve) and that was useful in obtaining my first job, but many of the IT contractors in the UK do not have a degree and are self taught programmers from an early age and are highly experienced and continuously learn the latest technologies that are in demand. They look at contract jobs on websites and update their skills. Here they teach Python in schools.
They are IT contractors and have businesses on the side. Therefore they learn new technologies that will also allow them to set up their own companies like developing cloud computing applications that they could put on market places like salesforce, Azure, apple and android etc. Then get contract jobs in these technologies too. Other technologies like Selenium for automated testing also allow them to create bots to automated processes.
Technology changes every day and therefore companies need people who could think and have the drive and the self motivation to self learn and continuously learn new skills on their own, at home, all the time. You need people who could show you a portfolio of the work that they have completed at home or on a commercial project using that technology; therefore giving you the confidence that if you recruit them, they will be able to assist you to complete the project on time and on budget.
The schooling system in some developing countries kills children’s creativity, innovation and their questioning skills from an early age. One has to ask question to identify problems and resolve them. In the UK children are given puzzles, toys and pens and paper when they are 3 years old are encourages to draw and design things to develop their creative skills. Children love going to school. They have metal work rooms, wood work rooms and labs and the people in the local community volunteer and contribute towards the facilities.
People should put Ubuntu and Python on their old PCs and donate them to their local schools to encourage children to learn Linux, Python and AI.
Everything from washing machines to cars use sensors the receive information from their environment and pass the data to a computer that then processes it and sends commands to servos and motors to do something. Therefore you need Arduno, Raspberry Pi and Nvidia Jetson in schools to allow children to develop advanced products and factories using these technologies. Once they have the basics they could develop with Scada and PLCs too and build factories and the latest high tech products.
In advanced economies they use the concept of consultation committees (Shura) there are volunteery committees of doctors, professional institutes containing people of each profession and chambers of commerce and industry. Therefore professional institutes and companies and industry (chambers of commerce and industry) dictates the fields in which research is required to give the local companies a competitive advantage. Universities are then provided with funding for equipment in that area of research. Countries also develop national policies and focus on critical leading edge technologies like AI and semi conductors design and fabrication and assist start ups in that area and provide funding for universities to buy equipment to teach these technologies. Government funding is also allocated to university research projects where industry provides 50% of the funding. The universities are highly commercial and run like companies. They patent technologies, commercialise research and spin off start ups and allow startups and companies to use their facilities. They work closely with companies and staff from companies teach at the universities in the evenings.

True. Any business community that doesn't face competition, becomes static and does not improve, this is the reason that universities in Pakistan are the way they are, they have thousands of customers which come uninvited no matter what, no university ever goes bankrupt, why would they even improve their curriculum.

You study, get a degree, some sort of certification, which approves you to be capable of doing certain jobs i.e. A degree/certificate confirms that you have relevant SKILLS to do a certain task. If in Pakistan, our educational system doesn't teach skills and knowledge to students, that's a flaw of our system. Not the education itself. Lots of white collar jobs can't immediately verify your SKILLS therefore the rely on educational system and DEGREE. Instead of misleading kids, help to fix our educational system. Cheers!

The issue is with the outdated education system of Pakistan, not with the institutes which literally provide your youth with a platform where they can groom themselves, make connections, learn about the life, etc. Agar degrees farigh hotin to puri dunya mein universities na he chal rahi hoti aur na he graduates earn kar rhey hotey. I have so many of my seniors who are working in several companies, have their own software houses, are running their businesses, and in all of that, their 4 years of the university played a big part. You cannot expect an average 18-year-old who already has a very low confidence level to work and interact with professionals. In conclusion agar criticize karna hai to outdated education system ko karo.

Azad is not against education.

Obsession to this level with skills and hate towards theory is excessive and unreasonable. Sure, skills are the need of the country, but if you do not study proven strategies, try to run away from theory, and you want reinvent the wheel, how's that going to be sustainable?
Running away from theory and making it hate worthy is silly and it's unidimensional thinking, when it's the theory and research that led, for instance, machine learning to where it is today.
