      Hoping for an answer, I'm hosting a server with Apex hosting, everything worked fine all last night and early today, then my friends lagged out and can't reconnect (only 2/4 friends can't connect. My other friend and I are still connecting fine to the server.) They get Internal Exception: Java.net.socket(Exception: connection reset) error. They can join other servers, like Hypixel, for example just fine still, so it's not on their end and not on the servers end? I'm confused and don't know how to help them.
      What could possibly be causing this, or better; how to fix this??

    Hey, I found your video extremely informative, however, I am having difficulty locating the exact source of my issue. I have been able to get the server running, log into it myself using direct connection and run around as normal. I set up a port forward on my router, but the port is shown as closed according to the website you linked in the description. I was able to test with a firend a range of scenarios and ports, but the only solution I found was to completely drop my firewall in its entirety, in which case, my friend was able to join. Obviously, I don't want this and want to pinpoint which programs or rules I need to focus on in order to get this to work safely and without disabling firewall completely. Does this mean that the issue cannot be my router? I see this as confirmation that there is a rule in my firewall blocking incoming connections. Which rules should I be focusing on?

    • @dundydunker
      @dundydunker  2 года назад +2

      When you are dropping your firewall, is it your routers or your PCs firewall? Also could you provide me what settings you gave the rule you made to allow the port forwarding? This may be easier to talk about on Instagram. Dm me my @ is dundydunker

    • @dundydunker
      @dundydunker  3 года назад +4

      I'm not too sure on that one. What I would try only as a test is changing your firewall settings like I did in the video to open the tcp and udp port to allow 25565. If that doesn't work just delete the rules you just created and continue to troubleshoot because I honestly don't know.
      Prob a better solution -- ruclips.net/video/TS-wQsipkp0/видео.html

    I did everything right and unfortunately the port is closed server are open i open rule in firewall and also open port Mapping put still the port close , is it possible that the isp close port forwarding ?

    • @dundydunker
      @dundydunker  3 месяца назад

      9 times out of 10 it’s the port forwarding. Some ISPs don’t allow it or you have to call them to allow it or you haven’t set it up properly on the router.
      Nothing will work externally unless that site says port 25565 is open. I suggest watching a thorough video on your specific router brand or calling your isp

      Look up your specific router and change the settings as the tutorial does

  • @swearwolf.werewolf8049
    @swearwolf.werewolf8049 Год назад +6

    Heads up that you need to ensure you have a *public* IP address in order for this to work which is down to your ISP (Internet Provider). I had to do a bunch of extra steps to find out this isn't even available with my provider so keep that in mind if you're still having issues. I would recommend checking by seeing if the IP in your router settings page is the same as the one shown by IP checking websites. If the IPs do *not* match then you have a private IP address and this won't work. However, you can contact your ISP to request a public IP address which they may not provide or can bill you for.
    I don't have any schooling in IT and I'm by no means an expert so if anyone more adept than me has corrections please let me know.

    • @swearwolf.werewolf8049
      @swearwolf.werewolf8049 Год назад

      This is an afterthought, but I would actually recommend doing this before messing with firewalls and router settings as it'll save you time, and then only refer back to the guide after you know your IP is public.

    • @dundydunker
      @dundydunker  Год назад

      That sounds correct. There is an alternative solution to skip portforwarding all together. If you use a third party source such as playit.gg, you can have them do the port forwarding for you. It is a 5 minute setup process and the only thing you have to do is have another program running while your server is on.

      Hello, my friend was making a server and i was helping him. Your comment reminded me that we needed to check if he has a private address. It turned out he had a private address, the one under his routers WAN IP was different than the one on websites like "whatsmyip". But i could join him after he sent me the one under WAN IP. Your trying to allow all the preexisting Java rules to have full access to pass through your firewall. Then repeat that process in Outbound rules. If that makes sense. If that don’t work you will just have to play around with your firewall until you figure what’s blocking it. (Be careful though)

      @dundydunker  7 месяцев назад

      If you are in fact using your external IP and you are able to connect to your own server but your friends are not able to from the same IP then I would guess your ISP is blocking it. You need to make sure the external IP you are using is the one you get when you search google "what is my IP".
      Usually when the port says closed it is because the port forwarding was not properly setup but if you are sure everything is right it is prob the isp.

    To hopefully fix everyone’s problems with start.bat
    In your folder up top click view, show, file name extensions
    Once you do that you might see an extra .jar or .bat on your server or start file
    Remove that and run and see if it works (make sure to keep 1 .jar)

    • @pandamana7915
      @pandamana7915 Год назад

      If that doesn’t work, enter the start.bat file, add a line and put “pause” then run, it will show what the problem is
      Should look like this when setting up
      Java Xx blah blah server name
      pause
      Hopefully I helped enough

      That means your port forwarding was not set up correctly or your isp is blocking it. Make sure you search your specific router model and look up how to port forward from there. Also make sure your server is running when checking if its open or not.

      Just look up “open port checker” there should be a few. Alternatively if you’re familiar with it, you could run an nmap scan externally to see if the port is open. 9 times out of 10 it’s usually the port forwarding that’s misconfigured so I would try to look up a specific video to port forward to your router

      @@dundydunker Yep, my port appears to be closed
      I’ve searched through a bunch of videos, but I seem to have done everything right; i selected my computer, selected the minecraft option (which was 25565) and then selected tcp/udp. My server was working fine around 3 days ago, but it randomly stopped working. My ip changed, which I thought was the issue, but after updating everything to my new ip (which only my private ip changed), it seemed to break
      My only other idea is to maybe just wait it out, it could be just an issue on my internet providers (cox) end

    I think I have set up the firewall steps(both turned it off completely and set the 4 in/out bound rules) and the port forwarding on my gateway about 11 times now while watching your video and others' that have covered this subject and although I can connect through multiple ips I'm checking on my ip ipconfig my friends still cannot. (ps my 25565 port on the website port tester remains closed after everything I do)

    • @dundydunker
      @dundydunker  2 года назад

      Okay so likely your firewall rules are fine. What matters most is that your port says it is open. Which since it’s not that means the port forwarding was not set up correctly. This could also be because your service provider doesn’t allow it or has to enable it (Rarely that’s needed but still plausible). I would try and searching more about your specific router and see if there’s a step by step tutorial. If you still can’t find it let me know.

    I have made sure to enable 25565 UDP and TDP ports on my firewall, I checked the website and it shows that my port is in fact open, yet my friends still cannot join through my ip. Any ideas for what I could be doing wrong?

    • @dundydunker
      @dundydunker  8 месяцев назад

      Everything is setup correctly you are just having them join through the wrong IP. I’m betting you are giving them something similar to 192.168.1.50. You need to go to your web browser and search “what is my ip” that is the IP address you give them.

      Probably cause of the way the router was setup. Have him join your private IP to the server. Type ipconfig in cmd on the server and give him the IPv4 address. If that doesn’t fix it, unless I know the error I can’t really say

      That is something you have to figure out on your end. You can try by searching for your default router password by typing the routers name. Typically the username and password is something like admin , admin or admin , password. Try those and if doesn't work you will have to search for it.

      I’m not entirely sure which option but I would try virtual server or port triggering. Whichever one has a screen like mine for my port forwarding setup. They will all be different but once you there just enter the port of your device hosting the Minecraft server example: 192.168.1.77, yours will likely be different then the port of 25565 and apply and then make sure your server is running and check if the port is open from that port checker website
