Hoping for an answer, I'm hosting a server with Apex hosting, everything worked fine all last night and early today, then my friends lagged out and can't reconnect (only 2/4 friends can't connect. I have been able to get the server running, log into it myself using direct connection and run around as normal. I set up a port forward on my router, but the port is shown as closed according to the website you linked in the description. I was able to test with a firend a range of scenarios and ports, but the only solution I found was to completely drop my firewall in its entirety, in which case, my friend was able to join. Does this mean that the issue cannot be my router? I see this as confirmation that there is a rule in my firewall blocking incoming connections. Which rules should I be focusing on?

(ps my 25565 port on the website port tester remains closed after everything I do)
Okay so likely your firewall rules are fine. What matters most is that your port says it is open. Which since it’s not that means the port forwarding was not set up correctly. This could also be because your service provider doesn’t allow it or has to enable it (Rarely that’s needed but still plausible). I would try and searching more about your specific router and see if there’s a step by step tutorial. If you still can’t find it let me know.
I have made sure to enable 25565 UDP and TDP ports on my firewall, I checked the website and it shows that my port is in fact open, yet my friends still cannot join through my ip. Any ideas for what I could be doing wrong?
Everything is setup correctly you are just having them join through the wrong IP. I’m betting you are giving them something similar to 192.168.1.50. You need to go to your web browser and search “what is my ip” that is the IP address you give them.

i have got to the point where im on my wifi on google i dont know what password and username it is asking for please reply as soon as possible DundyDunker
That is something you have to figure out on your end. You can try by searching for your default router password by typing the routers name. Typically the username and password is something like admin , admin or admin , password. Try those and if doesn't work you will have to search for it.
On my router's website, there are forwarding options like: virtual server, port triggering, DMZ, UPnP. In the virtual server I must enter: Service port (XX-XX or XX), IP address, Internal port and select Protocol, State or Defined services. What do I pick and enter pls help ;/
I’m not entirely sure which option but I would try virtual server or port triggering. Whichever one has a screen like mine for my port forwarding setup. They will all be different but once you there just enter the port of your device hosting the Minecraft server example: 192.168.1.77, yours will likely be different then the port of 25565 and apply and then make sure your server is running and check if the port is open from that port checker website

when i tried the you get connection it said invalid remote adress
Make sure your friends are connecting with your public IP. (Search what is my IP in google and that’s what it is)

wau router settings for real.... that work ty very much
So I entered the ports at the firewall. but it still did not work. So I disabled the firewall. After that it worked. But now I don't want to leave the firewall turned off. What should I do now?
Did you set a total of 4 rules like I did in the video? If you did, and it still doesn’t work, dm me on Instagram.
@@dundydunker yes I did… could you tell me your instagram name?
@@Fylumenius oh yes sorry. @ dundydunker
Very helpful video mate! Thanks.
mine only has port mapping and port triggering i tried on port mapping but the port is still not open
Getting a bad gateway error on yougetsignal, the error code is 502
is there any alternative website or should i just wait and see if the website starts working again?
Just look up “open port checker” there should be a few. Alternatively if you’re familiar with it, you could run an nmap scan externally to see if the port is open. 9 times out of 10 it’s usually the port forwarding that’s misconfigured so I would try to look up a specific video to port forward to your router
@@dundydunker Yep, my port appears to be closed
I’ve searched through a bunch of videos, but I seem to have done everything right; i selected my computer, selected the minecraft option (which was 25565) and then selected tcp/udp. My server was working fine around 3 days ago, but it randomly stopped working. My ip changed, which I thought was the issue, but after updating everything to my new ip (which only my private ip changed), it seemed to break
My only other idea is to maybe just wait it out, it could be just an issue on my internet providers (cox) end
@@xanderz101 my bet would be it’s your service provider too
@@dundydunker Fixed my problem, having both ports 25565 and 19132 open at the same time broke stuff, i just deleted the 19132 and everything worked just fine (after i forgot and re-added my computer to the port forwarding because the ip changed)
@@xanderz101 good to hear. Are you sure it was because of those 2 ports being open and not just because the ip changed? Seems kinda odd to me
HOW YOU DO THAT You did not tell us how to get in there
How to get into where?
I think I have set up the firewall steps(both turned it off completely and set the 4 in/out bound rules) and the port forwarding on my gateway about 11 times now while watching your video and others' that have covered this subject and although I can connect through multiple ips I'm checking on my ip ipconfig my friends still cannot.
@@dundydunker So, something very interesting, I am by no means an expert in this field so excuse me if I sound like an idiot BUT. I was using the correct ip, its just that I couldn't join through my public ip, but my friends can. Sorry for even wasting your time lol. Everything is working.
@@ImTooCooL4UBruh no worries, typically in most cases you are able to join from that IP yourself but it’s different from situation to situation
Okay so say if I go live on TikTok would people from my live be able to join ?
I literally have no idea how to port forward at all lmao
Look up how to port forward for routers model. There’s tutorials everywhere out there. An alternative is using a third party to port forward for you. A good one is called playit.gg and you can search a tutorial for that as well
I am not sure if this has been answered or not if it has im sorry but im having an issue of I am able to join my server and a friend not on my network is able to join but my roommate who is on the same network as i am cant join.. super bazaar
Probably cause of the way the router was setup. Have him join your private IP to the server. Type ipconfig in cmd on the server and give him the IPv4 address. If that doesn’t fix it, unless I know the error I can’t really say
@@dundydunker I’ll give that a try thank you!!
i have got to the point where im on my wifi on google i dont know what password and username it is asking for please reply as soon as possible DundyDunker
That is something you have to figure out on your end. You can try by searching for your default router password by typing the routers name. Typically the username and password is something like admin , admin or admin , password. Try those and if doesn't work you will have to search for it.
@@dundydunker thank you I got it working
imusing unitymedia and i cant do the wbsite part
I did all of the thing and they didn’t work
does anyone know if you can do anything about if you do have a private ip? im pretty sure thats my issue becuse ive done everything this video said and still nobody can join it in my situation i cant contact my isp to have it changed but i was wondering if theres a way around this could i use a hotspot ip to run the server because thats public?
Look up playit.gg, you’ll run a program along side ur server and it will port forward for you. Maybe 5-10 minute setup
@@dundydunker im trying to get it setup but I can't figure out how it works and how anyone would join my server. It looks more like they gave me an ip and made a server for me but I can't even connect to that I'm confused
@@joshasdf9503 I haven’t done it in a minute. I know playit made like a 10 minute tutorial on it. If you watch it you’ll get it quick
