  • If you like to try exotic food, Istanbul is the place for you.
Have you ever heard of Kokorec? It is a lamb intestine that is widely enjoyed in the Middle East. They first grill the lamb intestines and cut it in small pieces and make a sandwich out of it. OR if you love intestines, you can eat them as grilled.
There are a lot of similarities between Korean cuisine and Turkish cuisine when it comes to food. Many Koreans love to eat intestines (mainly cow and pig). So it would be a pleasant surprise if they find lamb intestines (although lamb intestines would theoretically have more texture and flavor / smell).
Turkish people love to eat Kokorec and you can find them easily anywhere in Turkiye (especially Istanbul). The best thing is that the dish is very cheap so it is a great snack or a late night food!
Additionally - at the end, I have posted a small clip of Turkish people that want to exploit the tourists like me. It is widely known that scams occur more often than you imagine in Istanbul given the language barrier and less developed financial tech ecosystem. There are many nice Turkish people who helped us there but I want to remind you - always raise your voice and ask questions!
