2:35 - Instantly watched this video and immediately it looked like this injury is a rupture of the patellar tendon in Diaz’s right knee, especially how you can see that he can straighten his leg and put a little weight on it, but not bend his knee without being in severe pain. His face when they go to lift and bend him says it all; I should know because I just tore mine playing basketball last month and had to have surgery. Rehab for this takes normally a full year, even with the best medical doctors and personnel. I know that pain he’s in; Definitely hoping Diaz has a speedy recovery and has the peace he needs during this unexpected injury, even coming from this big Phillies fan. 🙏🏻😔

This is incredibly sad. Ever since i heard a UFC fighter named Daniel Cormier say he threw his back out... with a sneeze... i swear i'm worried about injuries in the most mundane tasks. So many people don’t understand how important the WBC is to these guys. Yadier Molina said winning the WBC was more important than winning a World Series ever would be. Nelson Cruz smashing a walk off homer said it’s the biggest hit of his career. This tournament is more important to these guys than any mlb game or season ever will be.
Meanwhile Syndergaard's take was "nobody ever made the Hall of Fame because of the WBC"... If every nation bought in with the fire and passion that the Latin nations and Japan do, it would be a baseball event worth talking about for the entire buildup. I live in Germany and though the baseball community is small here, it's very loyal. Has to be, with most MLB games starting at 10 PM or later here. The energy at the qualifier was great. Look at how the Czech fans traveled TO JAPAN to support their squad, most of which have day jobs. There's SO much potential in this tournament. It's on the rest of the nations to embrace it

I’m a huge Mets and this probably destroyed our season. In todays modern baseball with starting pitchers having a pitch count- a great closer is crucial for success. I mean the Mets can go out and get another closer but Diaz is in a class by himself. But it’s only baseball. I pray for Diaz 🙏🏻for healing and he can still have a great career in baseball.
This reminds me of the movie Semi-Pro where the teammates are lifting Will Ferrell off the court and the commentator goes “They’re doing a terrible job stabilizing the spine”. But in all seriousness where was the medical crews in that MLB stadium?
I’m also a Yankees fan. This was brutal for all of Major League Baseball. He was absolutely phenomenal last year. It all finally came together for him in New York for the first time since the Mets traded for him. His entrance song “Narco” was amazing for marketing the game and now we won’t hear a peep of it this year. And all of this comes after he signed the richest contract ever for a relief pitcher. 5 years 102 million, 20.4 million per season and the first year is completely wasted.

It will be rejected because insurance companies reject all claims, valid or otherwise. That is their entire business model. Bad faith is at the core of what they do. If your policy and premium is up to date, it should be shut up, pay the claim, and like it. MLB players should not be allowed to play. The world baseball classic is a joke. The world baseball classic is the World Series players from all over the world. THey should use amatuers and minor leaguers, give them a chance to prove themselves. Without the MLB there is no WBC, it makes absolutely no sense.

These professionals shouldn’t be playing in these tournaments anyway. They should be playing for the teams that signed them and pay their salaries. Let the college kids play these.
So many people don’t understand how important the WBC is to these guys. Yadier Molina said winning the WBC was more important than winning a World Series ever would be. Nelson Cruz smashing a walk off homer said it’s the biggest hit of his career. This tournament is more important to these guys than any mlb game or season ever will be.

If every nation bought in with the fire and passion that the Latin nations and Japan do, it would be a baseball event worth talking about for the entire buildup. I live in Germany and though the baseball community is small here, it's very loyal. Has to be, with most MLB games starting at 10 PM or later here. The energy at the qualifier was great. Look at how the Czech fans traveled TO JAPAN to support their squad, most of which have day jobs. There's SO much potential in this tournament. It's on the rest of the nations to embrace it

The other side of the argument is the people that agreed to pay you $100 million should probably get you exclusively for that contracted time. It’s easy to say what’s a fluke and what’s not when it’s not your money or team.

Nope just another season over before it even starts. $100 million bucks spent and they will be trying to find a closer at the last minute or cycling though the bull pen trying to see if anyone can step in.
I’m a huge Mets and this probably destroyed our season. In todays modern baseball with starting pitchers having a pitch count- a great closer is crucial for success. I mean the Mets can go out and get another closer but Diaz is in a class by himself. But it’s only baseball. I pray for Diaz 🙏🏻for healing and he can still have a great career in baseball.

I’m also a Yankees fan. This was brutal for all of Major League Baseball. He was absolutely phenomenal last year. It all finally came together for him in New York for the first time since the Mets traded for him. His entrance song “Narco” was amazing for marketing the game and now we won’t hear a peep of it this year. And all of this comes after he signed the richest contract ever for a relief pitcher. 5 years 102 million, 20.4 million per season and the first year is completely wasted.

It will be rejected because insurance companies reject all claims, valid or otherwise. That is their entire business model. Bad faith is at the core of what they do. It took me 18 months with a lawyer's help to get $50,000 after going on long term disability at work. We need the government to regulate these billion dollar corporations instead of us civilians. If your policy and premium is up to date, it should be shut up, pay the claim, and like it. These insurance companies should send a smoking hot nurse to our home to service us when we're sick for how much they rob us blind.

Heartbreaking for one of the best arms in the game. Now someone will try to use this as a black eye on the tournament... It's an absolute freak accident. Could happen at any time to any guy. Hard to tell what exactly happened or the extent of it, don't want to speculate, but certainly hope Sugar will be ready for the stretch run.
MLB players should not be allowed to play. The world baseball classic is a joke. The world baseball classic is the World Series players from all over the world. THey should use amatuers and minor leaguers, give them a chance to prove themselves. Without the MLB there is no WBC, it makes absolutely no sense.
