- In today's video I want to show you how to build super powerful fog machine from cheap hair dryer. Total project costs is under 10$! It's just amazing how using such a few materials you can get very effective smoke machine!
And be careful while working with electricity.

It also has an inbuilt safety feature; in the event of critical failure, it can create a large smoke signal to alert your local fire service.

Ok, very cool idea, though here is the changes I would make to this: 1. first of all, why not just use the blow drier itself, seems illogical to rehouse it, if need be, make a larger snout for it, and open up the fan intake. 2, cotton?? Near the element, seems a bit reckless. I would utilize the woven high temperature glass ribbon/yarn used to Seal wood fired stoves and heaters. 3. Use a small pump (think tiny water feature/fish tank that could move the glycerin 4. Might want to dilute the glycerin with distilled purified water a bit and add a small reservoir to hold it. 4 As mentioned before I would concentrate efforts on timers cycling both the glycerin pump and the heater element to produce the highest fog output. I understand that all these things would add to the cost, and my suggestions are in no way a critique of the low cost cool idea used here. Good use would be to use in photography to add atmosphere to backlit photo shoots.

how to create a fire:
-kindling (like natural fibers)
-fuel (like wood, paper, carbon, cardboard)
-heat (electrical resistances work great)
-airflow (use a fan for best results)

Fog machine for under $10?! SWEET!! *plays video* ... hair dryer, power drill, squares of cotton, hot glue gun. I think we've exceeded the budget. lol

This is perfect for parties dances and for a disco!
First, PVC makes extremely toxic fumes when heated up. Use metal.
Second, cotton is flammable. Use fiberglass instead.
Third, glycerin and water don't mix with electricity well. (BOOM) you need insulation between the 2.
Fourth, those hoses will melt very quickly. Use metal.
Fifth, cardboard catches on fire. Use at least plastic for the housing.
Sixth, cardboard is not a good enough insulator around 120v AC. This kinda goes along with number five, changing the housing to plastic.
Seventh, how are you gonna press that syringe?
Eigth, how are you gonna refill that syringe?
Fix 7 and 8 by replacing with a bottle that is easily refillable, and a pump.
Ninth, by the time you fix all these, you will be way over the price of a normal fog machine, and it wont work near as well as a normal fog machine. Just buy one. You can get them for like $30.
Cotton don't burn when it's wet and fiberglass won't hold the juice so it can fog

I don't think that's much of an issue when the entire project is a fire hazard anyway.

Mix sugar and water using so much sugar that the mixture becomes very thick and syrup like. Than soak your cottons in the mixture and let them dry. I bet they produce a lot more smoke.
