Wrong use of tap and die. that check-box dictates the tooth shape, for a bolt it should be a die that cuts it, you then use the second menu to decide if the tooth is made by removing or adding material to the base cylinder. The nut should be cut with a Tap and again same idea around adding or removing material to form the tooth in the cylindrical ID.
The threads on the nut are almost flat, when tapping a 6mm x 1mm thread your hole size would need to be 5mm. As in tapping a real thread you would use a 5mm drill.
it does not make real threads, only for looks, just so you know. you have to make custom threads. which is a pain, not sure why they even added this useless feature, but if you figure something out let me know. I have had no luck printing any useful working threads yet. I tried adjusting tolerances (ID and OD) size, and just get bad parts.
these videos on using the new thread feature ARE A WASTE OF TIME, IF you want REAL threads, you will NOT get them using this useless feature. they will look like, but they will not actually work on real parts.
the suggestion is to NOT make videos of a broken tool. it is useless, I could also suggest that others like i have complain to them that a $10000+ software and they make a completely useless thread tool, and they have admitted it was not done well. Again why make a video for something if we know it is broke? you will get ppl like me who try and try and try and waste a lot of material trying to print, because no one said on these videos that the program does not actually make usable threads. So i posted this so others may know it does not work. that was why i posted this
Even in 2018 version it isnt possible to make threads for 3D Print? I know from Rhino a Threadtool from 2014 and its REALLY usefull for 3D print!!! It makes everthing you need and its free. But its rhino, that we dont have in the university.
Chill man. This feature is useless for real designers that want to this things produce to real...but mostly this is enough for vizualization. Its way fast then previous system. If you need real threads, then you have to draw it, depend on DIN, ISO. Yea i spend tons of dollars for this program, and my dream is, push one big red button and my work will be DONE : - ) hope one day

this is not m6 bolt m6X1 means 6 outer dia and 1 min dia of the thread, here you created 1mm on 6mm dia now this bolt created is m7X1

I followed your video exactly but it says "Unable to extrude Threads on cylindrical face. Use Cut Thread instead". How did you do that??? Plz help.

bro......it came opposite for me...it asked me to extrude instead of cut....
Try changing to metric die or metric tap (or inches) in the thread tool menu, depending on your problem.
For nut it's cut thread. For bolt it's extrude thread
its good but no tolerance.. 3d printing need tolerance. what is the best way to adjust it ??

Nah don't draw the physical thread on bolts, it's so irritating on the drawings and it consumes way to much ressources and time.
