  • I recently watched an episode or two, or three, of "Boer soek 'n vrou" (translation: Farmer wants a wife). After each of the five farmers speed-dated ten women, they each had to reduce their future prospects to just five women. Among the women who were eliminated from the process, some cried, some laughed, and some sighed in relief that it was over. As I watched their faces, I thought about the sense of rejection some of them surely must have felt. Were they not attractive enough, clever enough, exciting enough, ambitious enough, aligned enough? What was it about them that caused the farmer to choose someone else and reject them? This Sunday, instead of contemplating the fear of being out of control, as we were meant to, we'll be looking at the fear of rejection. Have you ever experienced an overwhelming sense of rejection? You're not alone. Whether it was in a relationship, a job, a family, or even in a ministry, others have walked in the same shoes. We'll study a biblical example of someone who had to deal with an excruciatingly painful rejection at the hands of her husband, and consider some of the lessons she learnt in the process, lessons we can apply in overcoming our fear of rejection. We'd love for you to join us at SBC, but if you're away or unwell, would nonetheless appreciate you joining us live at 8am on RUclips.
