How to Update Drivers in Windows 10 Easily? Updating windows 10 device drivers is pretty easy and most of the time Microsoft Windows 10 takes care of it. But its always recommended to download and install your own drivers to get the latest and best possible drivers for your hardware. You can either use snappy driver installer or snappy driver installer origin or download drivers for Audio Sound Card, Graphics Card, Chipset Drivers, Ethernet or Wifi drivers and any other drivers you may need from the manufacturer website. Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Asrock, Biostar or any other motherboard manufacturer.
Remember its "Snappy Driver Installer Origin" and NOT Snappy Driver Installer

I have tried tools to update drivers. I went back to doing it manually via device manager. I also like to know what's changed one at a time, when you have multiple things change at once, it becomes more difficult to debug if you run into an issue.
Example: When I upgraded form Win7 to Win10 the newer storage driver caused the system to BSOD, it took me rolling it back in order to stabilize the system. Sometimes it's "Best" driver not the "newest" driver.

Over current USB port you did a video I don't know how long ago but it helped me I found that there was a jumper setting on the board that had fallen off the motherboard brand new board Asus that was my problem your vid help lots thank you

What way do you update your drivers? make sure you use "Snappy Driver Installer Origin" this is the portable app version
Britec09 it’s recommended to visit your PC manufacturers website & search for system specific drivers.
You may simply download updated firmware, device drivers & system software based on the current OS of your machine.

@Nep Nep Nep Nep Yah I used that before. Don't use it anymore. It detected drivers that didn't need updating just to show it could.

As always Great video on a very useful tool, which indeed can save you a lot of time ! Not to mention a headache or two when it comes to old laptops(as you also pointed out in the video).
Love your channel and your choices of honest tools, programs, the great tips and howto's, testing and tweaking. The way your are calm and able to explain/show the content of a given video! :)
However sometimes I wish you would go a bit deeper into showcasing actual usage(setting up a scenario and fix it etc.) of a program/tool. Especially with some of these great tools you have made videos of more than once throughout the years. Sometimes first half of a video can be very educational and captivating/focused - for then, in the second, to feel a bit rushed up yet not quiet wrapped up. Hope my terrible writing makes some sort of sense.. and not comes through as harsh critic, because that's is not what I meant it to be.
As for an Example of a wish upon how you would/could have showcased SDI Origin:
Would have loved to see you pull out an old with only legacy drivers available from Manufacture. Or some very odd, bugging composition of hardware.
Or something like stripping a windows instillation from its driver library and patch with SDI index drivers or the complete SDI driver package. Installing it - going over pros, con's is it even possible and so on...
Anyway I'm sorry for my little rant here - Don't feel obliged to take any of this in. I will keep watching your videos almost no mater what the future content may be.

Most good manufacturers of a prebuilt pc/lappy will have a utility to check your drivers are up to date.
i use driver genius..works great
Every time I have used these Driver Updaters it has either caused blue screen or needed a reset of Windows 10. Including Snappy - stay away!
been using snappy drivers install for a while and is handy when the manufacture stop updating the drivers on there website but snappy can find new versions that work and even new windows os that the original pc didn't support. also snappy will only find the drivers for the pc that you need to install or update the drivers to.

you failed to tell Folks some Motherboard Sites have the wrong driver posted on the correct model you have like my Motherboard
So I install the snappy origin piece of software, windows defender does not like it much and then it downloads some 20 Gb of data. All OK, no issue, but I read the manual which unfortunately does not tell me what to do next. Secondly where has it stored those 20 Gb of data?

Remove the driver and any hidden drivers for that keyboard and get the driver from the manufacturer website

Hey Brian... I have just updated my Windows 10 and try to install it on my laptop... . Suddenly the power went off.. Then a blue screen appeared saying "Automatic repair couldn't repair your pc"... And the main problem was io1 initialization filed... I have tried a lot of methods by watching on RUclips videos including yours but ma problem wasn't solved. Am so panicked. Is the situation intense or normal please I need your help

I have an Ati driver (radeon hd 3870) A discontinued Ati driver upgrade none into windows 10.
Discontinued by ati, but Microsoft have produced a driver for it.
Will this auto update that from Windows 10 basic graphics driver, Brian?
It was a high performance card about 6 yrs ago. We paid extra for performance on.
This is the problem, a lot of manufacturer websites make drivers obsolete, which makes it hard to find them
If this is so safe then why did Malwarebytes red flag it and windows kept trying to warn me but it over rode any attempt I had to say yes or no I know these anti malware and virus protection programs are red flagging non threats but this program didn't even give me any choice it kept installing.
If you own a dell machine, search for their community page which contains a .cab file of all drivers for your model. Then search for the command line to install the cab. All drivers done in 3-4 minutes. Message me if you need help.

Old stuff is getting harder to find.

Been using Driver Easy for a couple of years now and the only driver I prefer to update myself is the graphic driver.
Its not free, even though there is a free version, but I've found it easy and efficient to use.
No spam ware in the program.

I have a packard bell pc, and one of these dodgy driver updaters changed the system driver to Acer..... I have no idea if its the right one or wrong one, How do I find out?
I've used lots of different "tools" to update drivers and allot of them install all sorts of rubbish (basically malware) along with it.

@David W_UK stop spreading. lies Snappy Driver Installer Origin is portable app. Snappy Driver Installer might install apps, hence why I never used that program or recommend that program.
Feel you should have shown Device Manager method. Is it straight-forward or any tricks? Also, if the computer system manufacturer (like Dell) has a process but doesn't it show updates for components (like video card) that very likely have been updated by the component manufacturer, what are the dangers of updating to the component's latest?

Trend Micro's Apex One list the SDI tools as a Dangerous threat and block the download.
I use IObit Driver Booster as my driver updater. It helps me get missing/corrupted drivers get updated

STOP using driver booster. They most times download the wrong drivers for your specific pc and cause huge problems.

When I download updated drivers, for some reason it overrides and disconnects my keyboard.. however I use the remote keyboard to login, then download again the proper keyboard driver and it's solved. This has happened a couple of times... anyway, thought it was worth to mention. Cheers!

Too complex. I use the free version of Driver Booster with no problems.
The best driver updater winch work also with unknown Chinese products is Driver Talent. i tried every single one and this always work perfectly.

I have been having trouble with a very old PC I was trying to rescue for very basic excel work, all drivers where updated according to windows but I knew all the errors I was getting where fault of old drivers, i think this program is for these cases only and new computers should not need this .

What are device drivers? All my hardware is picked up by the Linux kernel.
Linux ftw. But Linux also needs drivers for new gpus and unusual hardware like a wacom tablet.

Is that program free?
It took me ages to manually update my USB wifi dongle,since the disc driver installer that came with it only worked for Windows 7 and doesnt support Windows 10,in this case the driver came from Mediatek.Luckily i can now use again my USB wifi dongle on my laptop.

@@Britec09 I think the link was missing originally as I remember having to look at the name of the program in the video itself, and also Iks Man asked for the link four hours ago. (below) There might also be confusion, as in your description, above, you say "You can either use snappy driver installer or snappy driver installer origin" which I googled and found the link to sdi-tool (dot) org/ which shows as 'Snappy Drive Installer'. Am still doing a full virus scan, but Malwarebytes only came up with several instances of PUP.Optional.Driverpack which came from SDI-TOOLS (dot) EXE
when I search for "snappy driver installer origin" it gives me the correct site and not the site you are using. I never used that in the video and I told people in the video I will be using "snappy driver installer origin" maybe there is some confusion, I also told people to download drivers from the manufacture website. I think what you did was download and use the wrong driver install which does content PUPS which is potentially unwanted programs. Hence why I never used it or recommended it.

Scary piece of software! Running it now....it’s already installed Opera, without asking me and, I think, when it has finished running, I will find it’s installed an anti-virus....either Avast, or Avira. A load of app icons, that I don’t want on my desktop have appeared! The program runs full screen, with no option to minimise! It seems to have disabled the taskbar on that monitor! Fortunately, I have dual monitors and I can get up the taskbar on that one! It does not seem like a ‘professional’ piece of software to me, at all! Has been running for ages and have no idea what it is doing! Will report back further if/when it finished. Contd....
After wanting to reboot, which I did, it’s been stuck on 45% for ages, ‘DriverPack Solution’ using 18% of my CPU
