The Brutality of being given a budget and filming a Trilogy, in record time, and making one of the most profitable franchises of all time in relation to its budget. Cry me a river. This was FANTASTIC if you were a fan of the original. The subtle recalls to the original, the camera angles, the masked males head tilt, the camera angles, the tiny nuances that made this film pretty amazing and now, OBVIOUSLY UNDERATED have passed you all by. For TRUE fans of the original. If you didn't like this, the second watch is more fitting when appreciating the production, angles, VISUAL STORYTELLING, and cinematography. They matched ALOT of the original film in color grading. My ONLY gripe with this film is the male who played her "Fiancé". He's a HORRIBLE actor. Was COMPLETELY unbelievable, visibly and audibly. I didn't buy his character one bit because he literally seemed to be TRYING to act. I felt like I was on set and was actively watching him do take #34 or 36 of every scene he was in after hearing the word: "action". I barely bought her acting. But the film isn't called 2 sub par actors in a house. It's called "The Strangers" and they all nailed they're roles. The Body language was EVERYTHING. Soundtrack was well thought out and on the second watch, I changed my mind. I give this film a solid 7.5 , I do, however, hope the second film tries to up the realism of perpetual fear in "flight" response mode. The original film did very well in that regard.

A trilogy out of such a mediocre IP? The original movie was laughable bad, the sequel even worse and now there's a whole trilogy? People really spend money to consume garbage.

This movie has 0 originality compared to the first Strangers movie. Swap Liv Tyler and the other guy for younger, attractive models and its the same movie. I thought we'd learn more about Bag Head, Doll face and Pin up girl in the prequel, but we didn't.

I saw this with my friend in theaters a month or so ago. It was NOT worth it lmao. The scene where she was in the closet made me so mad cause she was being so loud LMAO. Like I get she’s terrified but she’s lucky the guy was toying with her and left her alone
Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.
The worst part was that she kept her phone's flashlight on, while it was dark outside, which would allow whoever came up the stairs to see the light, under the door.
And these people were on strike, a few months ago, because they wanted to be paid more, when none of them should be in the movie business, to begin with...

The "is Tamera home?" thing happened to him, and he later found out there were a series of break-ins in the neighborhood. The thieves were checking if people were home before entering. And The Strangers is him expanding on the what if of the situation.
Lol the true event of like two houses on his block getting robbed when no one was home when he was like 9 years old. Playing a little fast and loose with the whole "based on a true story" thing.
Fun Fact, it's based on TWO things..... The break-ins ,that took place in his neighborhood when he a young boy AND the Tate Murders. He combined the two stories to create a masterpiece about strangers who come into your home, ONLY to murder. Nothing less.

Honestly the movie was pretty original compared to the first one, it was just the MO of the killers to lure people there and knock on the doors and definitely didn’t deserve the dog shit score it got on release

My god they really just remade the exact same film didn't they. I mean it was already a terrible film, why did they think making it again would improve it?
I found the original to be quite decent ! Sure it was nothing to write home about, but the execution of a "home invasion" scenario was pretty well made ! Scares me much more than killer nuns and whatnot. I really hated the "chair jump" ending of Strangers and the movie sometimes has you like "so what the fuck was THAT about" but otherwise it felt pretty okay
I mean to be fair it was technically a reboot of the franchise so it having all the same story beats was on purpose. But what they did change completely ruined all the terror and charm of the original. But don't worry, there's two more coming out that they already filmed and we definitely want to see 😬😬😬😬😅

Wow, this one seems to really be inspired by the already terrible original as in that none of the decisions, plot points or action MAKE ANY SENSE.
This movie is atrocious. The characters are just as dumb as a box of rocks, perfectly representing whoever wrote them, I guess... Everyone wants to be represented. 🤷♂
So, they find a way out of the house, while all the baddies are inside, but, instead of heading to town, they decide the shed is a better option, as there "must be" a gun somewhere. They've never been there, before. They don't know who lives in that house. Why would they assume there is a gun?! Oh, right, because the script says there is and they read it...
While stumbling in the dark, on their way to the shed, the guy manages to twist his ankle. Conveniently, in the shed, there really is a shotgun...
Then, inconveniently, a random guy comes over and gets shot in the face...
I just stopped watching, at that point...
