Thank you so much for making this video! I got my pseud. Colombia sling in September at a convention, and I wasn’t able to find very much information about them here on RUclips.
I got my P. sp blue in Dec 2021 at 3/8 of an inch. It has molted several times since then, and now it is 1/2 an inch, 3 years later. It's still kept in a vial...I may have to put it in my will because I'll never see it grow up to an adult at this rate. 😆
My smallest sling was a 1/16" cyriocosmus elegans...it was shipped in a dram vial with spagnum moss and I could not find the sling...I had to get a jewelers loop to find the sling...it looked like a grain of salt on a strand of spagnum moss...1 year later the sling is 3/4"!
@michelleburich funny story...a few weeks after housing the 1/16" C. Elegans it looked like the elegans had died...I put the dram vial in a box with all the new/unused dram vials...3 weeks later needing a dram vial I open the box & there he was in his dram chilling...he had molted & what I thought was a dead C. Elegans was just a molt!😅🤣😂
Lol when I got my C. elegans at that size it came in a vial with a sticker on it that said "very tiny spider! Vial not empty!!" I thought it was so funny I kept the sticker for it's adult enclosure.
@@TomsBigSpiders YES> The meds they gave me that is supposed to help my body make creon a vital enzyme needed by the pancreas. If left untreated it could be fatal. I was lucky to get good hospital care. Thank Billie and let her know she is a sweetheart!
Great video again. Timing couldn’t have been better. This Tuesday picking up Pseud Colombia and Blue 1/4” and a couple extra goodies Greek Ladybird there isn’t much info on them just “Dry”. Thanks for all the information on both and Billie’s great camera skills.
Beautiful little Gems. Yesterday I see my Collection and think: Enough. And now: One or Two or two should not be a Problem....on a beautiful, sunny Day my Wife will kill me😂. Thank you for this Video and the Mass of Information!🙏
Awesome video Tom and a couple of real beauties there. That little one was so cute pushing the water dish aside so it could hide lol. Yes it’s a real shame that M design have stopped doing a lot of their containers as they are great quality and very affordable.
I got a Pseud sp. blue a couple years ago as a tiny sling. I liked it so much I recently got 10 more slings to grow up and hopefully get a male to pair with her (she's about 2" give or take now). I don't handle my tarantulas either, but have held this one many times because she just strolls right out when I open her enclosure 😅
I have a Pseudhapalopus sp columbia (yellow blue bottle) sling that actually molted this morning. Might be 1 inch now. It's like your sp blue, it tries to get out every time I touch the enclosure lol it even tries to be sneaky, creep slow/hide in the plant, then dash towards lid....I do all the maintenance in my rehouse tub with that one ever since it ended up on my arm lol definitely makes maintenance entertaining lol 😀
Hi Tom. Hope your weekend has been good! WOW!! Two absolutely stunning Tarantulas you have there. The colourisation to them each is drop dead gorgeous 😮😊. I always love to see that you have a video for us all to watch, they’re always great viewing. Take care, and hope you and the family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’ve to wait till Christmas for my Turkey 🦃 😂 😊
These are absolutely beautiful tarantulas! I think both appreciated their new homes. After hearing you describe the size of these as slings, it reminded me how traumatic it was for me when I got two super tiny Cyriocosmus elegans slings. I'm not over that yet ....and I still have a hard time finding them. I just look for the little mats of webbing and the tiny burrows. And I always make sure their prey is eaten.
I have the purple and its mega reclusive. Im glad I can see it's burrow through the enclosure cuz it wouldn't have come up for food(it's about 1") I waited a few weeks after molt then excavated the old tunnel and started dropping stuff in. I haven't had great luck when it comes to Dwarf species. My juvenile citharacanthus cyaneus doesnt wish to leave it's sealed burrow either. I finally had to check on that one after 2 months so I lifted the corkbark and there it was, ticked off at me. Looked like it hadn't even molted yet so I gave it a juicy red runner and put the corkbark back. My Dolichothele rufoniger, who was the first pricey T I aquired during this 100 T mega spree to start of my career, just completely dissapeared on me. Was in a condiment cup. I suspect it died and dissolved like the LSD ET I brought up before but knowing what I know now about Dolichothele after picking up diamantinensis I'm afraid it teleported out when I lifted the condiment lid to feed while tired or something. N incei also dissapeared on me. I'm not sure if it slipped out a vent or slipped out during initial rehouse without me noticing. I have nearly 100 Ts 4 months in like I mentioned mostly all slings and those 2 are half of the 4 losses I've had so far. The initial D diamantinensis rehouse was INTENSE. Those guys are soooooooo fast even when tiny. It was the First time I experienced true teleportation where my brain could not process the movement. And I consider mine pretty good at that gaming my whole life😂 I recently picked up some expensive, rare euathlus and a davus sp Panama so my luck better change quick! And I'll end my rant (sorry) by adding that the Tanzanian chestnut is a pure joy to own I was blown away seeing it for the first time and the webbing is excellent
Two great species, and two I happen to keep (both females). I realize these are undescribed in the literature, but more than other spiders I find the nomenclature quite varied. I adopted the convention Tarantula Canada uses, so the P. sp blue I call the P. sp Columbia/blue, and the other P. sp yellow/blue. Just so people know you may see some variability in the naming of these. I find the P. sp blue to be on the skittish side, but *definitely* curious as anything. She spends 100% of her time trying to figure out how to get the lid of the enclosure off. More than any other spider I keep, she's up to something :)
I give mine a high 5 or high 1 finger when she puts her entire leg through the air holes. Lol. Sometimes she stays there and sometimes she freaks out that I'm touching her foot.
@@calliew311 I used to do the same thing! When she was still smaller I kept her in an AMAC box with larger holes which she stuck her feet through all the time. I had to move her to a larger enclosure and it has small holes that she has a harder time getting feet through. She does work the gap in the lid though. She's a busy girl whatever she's doing :)
So you might have done this already. When things don’t go the way I’d like them to my next move is contacting the corporate of the company. I’ve had excellent results !! If it was me I’d be calling until I got the right person say I’ll buy 30 right now. The goal of that acrylic box company is to make money. So they have discovered that item, bring it back !! It’s definitely worth a shot 😊
Gorgeous t's , a friend of mine on ab has just had his male of sp Colombia mature out too.... timing seems perfect and I know he is looking for a female for his little fellow to go to, you can find the pic on media feed if you are interested in breeding your girl 😉 NMTs is the owner 😊. Ps when you have tiny slings and they won't take fruit walks you can use the fruit walk maggots instead . Even slings that are 3mm dls will take them and they wont hurt your t as they eat fruit 😊. Everyone seems to forget about them for tiny slings but they work amazing. A great vid you 2 I always enjoy seeing your floofers 😊 take care of yous n catch you on the next one 😉
I've had both of these species - I got the sp. Blue as a 1/4" sling back in April this year, and it's currently about 1". Even at this size I can tell it likes to explorative, which is cute. It even has a bit of blue on its abdomen after it molts, so I'm looking forward to what it'll look like as an adult. I got the sp. Colombia as a juvenile, and I really liked how it would explore its enclosure every night, sticking its legs through all the ventilation holes and gaps. Unfortunately the lid wasn't secure - the magnets holding it shut were weak and the tape I'd placed over it lost its stickiness - so the spider escaped and I wasn't able to find it. I'm still really broken up about it; I loved how much personality the little guy had. Needless to say, I stopped using that enclosure for tarantulas...
Hey Tom great video yeah the size of slings are super small but I did get an homelma chillensis and again that was tiny. Doing very well if I do manage to raise it then I will definitely get the Colombian blue bottle.
My Psuedhaplopus sp blue runs when I open the enclosure but she is always trying to "escape" when I'm not touching rhe enclosure. Lol. Idk how many photos I have of her putting her leg/paw out through the air holes of the Tarantula Cribs medium I have her in. I would put my pointer finger up to her leg and we would either be like that painting in the Vatican with the finger reaching out, OR it's me giving her a high 5 (1 finger). She stayed underground her hole life til she reaches 2 inches, that's when she came up and I realized she needed to be rehoused. She was one of my few who didnt re emerge after a molt to eat, I had to remove dirt from the burrow entrance and leave dead prey there and she sprinted to get it, poor thing was starving. So, I gave her a plant, a pepperomia, a couple fake plants, and two cork bark hides with starter burrows. She's killed the plant, filled the burrows both in and she molted up top this last time. I was told she was a sp Columbia because she was gold-ish blonde and her booty was purple, and I've had her 2 years. But this last molt she darkened and her booty is more blue than purple now. Also, btw, I watched a Bird spiders CH video and he went to Columbia and he said the sp. Columbia are a full sized T that can get up to 6 inches. The sp blue is like you said a larger than dwarf but smaller T around 4 inches.
I got some sp blue last year and they really are so tiny as slings i kept them in tiny tiny sling pots and 1 managed to disapear somehow anyways the others are doing fine tho but they really take awhile to get out of that fragile sling stage
Thank you so much for making this video! I got my pseud. Colombia sling in September at a convention, and I wasn’t able to find very much information about them here on RUclips.

What prey items have you given yours? I want one but am intimidated by the size.
Good video and absolutely love Billie’s laugh!

I can totally relate! And I got two of them at that size! I had never been so stressed.

Hello great video information Tom
Thank you, Moon!
Two little beauties❤ it seems that a lot of dwarf species are more "chilled" than the giant sized.
I love this species have 5 of them I show mine on my channel all the time and they have such beautiful and unique webbing
They really are fantastic and pretty underrated!
