10-20 and Chinese Garter were 2 different children street games. In the Philippines, technology came late, so there's no cellphones, computers and such up until 2000's, and actually in some rural areas, they still doesn't have technology, even electricity. So children love to play on streets with other children whether after school or weekends every afternoon, that's why everybody knows this game. These two games were also usually played by little girls and gays. What they did in the mini challenge was chinese garter, 10-20 has different game rules and design. What they have in common are the levels getting harder with putting the garter higher and higher. It was a group game where they will choose mother and daughters. The mother is the most vital role because when her daughters loses (we call them "dead" when they didn't make the jump), the mother would jump for themselves and for those daughters that were dead, so the daughter could play the next rounds. There are rules also like "dead mother, dead all" when if the mother didn't make it, it is time for the other group to jump. Its a race of two groups making it fastest to complete all the levels.
BTW Kaladkaren is a transwoman, and getting married especially being a Filipino personality is ground breaking especially with this f*cked-up h*mophobic country, that's why it is kinda big deal when they were talking about Karen's wedding. Also, this is the only franchise to have two transwomen judges on the table. WERK

I didn't really play the game they played in the mini-challenge when I was a kid, but I'll do my best to explain it as much as I can.
Basically, the game is called Chinese garter, which is the rubber line that they jump over on, and you are right that the goal is to go over the line. It doesn't matter if they touch the line, as long as they go over. This is usually played by kids, and surprisingly you don't need to be tall to win because if you can't jump, you can do tricks like do doing a cartwheel to touch the line and go over.
They also used 10-20 (read as ten twenty) to translate the game in the subtitles, but I think 10-20 is a different game with a different set of rules but uses the chinese garter too, where the best player is usually called "mother."

Also, Miss Minty was judged so unfairly this episode. She was given Moira who is the epitome of a Tumblr singer. Her music focuses on her soft vocals and emotional lyrics. Comedians would often joke about her songs being so soft, it would put even herself to sleep. Jiggly calling her out and telling her to wake up like she's been coasting was uncalled for. She was low energy in episode 3, but won episode 1, and was high in episode 2. Her character literally needed her to be low energy and she did great acting and leaning on the character, imo. Not to mention her runway is one of the best.

So sad to see Turing leave, she was such an amazing performer clearly shown in the girl group challenge, Morgana SERVED it to me her facial expressions, her tricks and her presence somehow outshine Turing in that lip sync, the runway was fire 🔥, like Minty killed, Vinas (as always) killed, so many of them did well, also miss Prince our first eliminated posted their look for this runway and it was so smart and campy I'm surprised no one thought of it I mean her concept was F'in bubbletea.

I feel like Minty Fresh and Lady Morgana were sabotaged because they don't really look like those people they tried to impersonate. But for me, they are my bottom two. And my winner should be Vinas Deluxe. I've seen a lot of Regine impersonation (Precious Paula Nicole) and I seldom see a Zsazsa impersonator (Vinas) so it's kinda refreshing.

Personally, I think Marina deserved to be in the top 2. Marina nailed her Sarah impersonation. Vinas and Precious were also great. I’m shocked that Turing was even in the bottom. Her runway sucked but her performance in the maxi challenge was at least safe. Personally I think it should have been Brigiding and Morgana should have been in the bottom. I agree with the lipsync result, though. Shame to see Turing go home so early.

The only ones who did not make me laugh in maxi challenge was Brigiding and Lady Morgana. The rest were okay. Minty did really well for me with the character she was given. She made it work and her stints were working so i do not really get the wake up comment. Turing also did great for me in the maxi challenge. I think they were just expecting too much from her. If not for her runway, i dont think she deserves to be in the bottom 2.

I'm Fil-Am so I'm only somewhat familiar with the divas but I do think Precious Paula & Xilhouete had the best impersonations (but also Precious Paula was definitely set up to succeed because she has so much experience with the Regine impersonation and had more screentime). I think the worst impersonations were Morgana and Brigiding (Morgana cause of the impersonation look and Brigiding cause of the performance). Runways definitely had a large impact on who was in the bottom this week though so I agree with the bottom 2 - and Morgana really nailed the lipsync. Sidenote, it's wild to me that Turing looks so much prettier with her real hair compared to her wigs - I'm sad that she's gone but folks should definitely go and follow her on IG!
For me the battle in Maxi Challenge should’ve been between Marina and Precious.

For the mini challenge it is very reminiscing of young kids playing the “Chinese Garter” usually the game is really for the girls and when boys play it, they will definitely be tagged as somehow queer/gay by adults. This game is really one of the staple for young queer kids to play in streets and if you are tagged as the “Mother” of the team, it will be a bragging right if you will be able to save your team if the baby(team mates) fail the level. I can distinctly remember the condition “dead Mother dead all” so being tagged as the Mother means you should be the best player in your team. 😇

IMO, I think everyone did great on the maxi challenge except for Brigiding. I feel like she embodied Jaya's mother more than Jaya 😂
Precious did great but is expected since she's doing Regine for years. Marina also is awesome doing Sarah G with the choreography and humble sweetness toward the end. Viñas's was good but that lace front needed some glue lol. Xilhouete embodied Pilita but is a little behind on the group choreo. Morgana should've done Lea's Miss Saigon look but she was good. Low-key I laughed at Minty's but it's a tough character to portray and I feel like she did good. Turing and Eva were good too as Sharon and Jolina respectively
I think ultimately it boiled down to the runway.
I'm gonna miss Turing tho she's a ball of energy and positivity but no shade, she needed a little more time with her looks because performance-wise she's 🔥🔥🔥

Also as someone who is Filo I would have to disagree with Turing being in Btm 2 placement and feel like Brigiding should have been in there (and I love her!) But her Jaya was more like a different OPM diva, Jaya's mother: The Late, Amazing and Charisnatic : Elizabeth Ramsey.
Lady Morgana did what she could but she and Lea have drastically different looks and her runway needed more pearls.

The critique on Minty being low energy was weird. The running joke about Moira, the diva she was impersonating, is that she's extremely low energy. So if she gets critiqued about it when she's just doing the job of impersonating her diva is kinda off.

As someone who knows all the divas, the bottom should’ve been minty and brigiding. Almost every filipino viewers agree that turing shouldn’t even be in the bottom, they just put her there because they thought she could eliminate lady morgana. I feel bad tho that they based the bottom on the runway, coz some of these queens doesn’t have the budget like lady morgana and turing, xilhouette is prolly the only one who can afford designer clothes but her fashion sense isn’t good. That’s why this season needs to be successful so for the next season, some well renowned filipino designers will sponsor the next queens.

In general i think none of the girls did bad in the challenge. Precious ' case though doing Regine is a rather similar case as Chad Michaels doing Cher. people would definitely complain that the challenge almost favors them at the same time on the flip side of the argument denying them of doing what they are known for is like a crime. like why cast them right ?

Regarding your comment about the "gays dreaming of becoming brides" thing from KaladKaren, i believe she used the term "bakla".
In the Philippines, we sort of have our own local groupings and umbrella terms in the LGBTQIA+ community. "Bakla", while often translated as "gay", actually refers to all people assigned male at birth that deviate from the societal expectations for males. Thus, "Bakla" encompasses not only gay men, but also transwomen and others. To say that the Baklas dream of becoming brides means that the battle for the right to marriage encompasses so much more, and KaladKaren, being a trans Filipino woman, has been a part of the struggle as well.
As for the term "bride", from my experience, the Baklas are open and receptive to feminine terms, just as other queer communities are.
(Edit on top of the edit: after talking to a fellow queer Filipino person, bakla is more of a separate gender culture. Further individual research may be required to understand this but imma leave this here too for the culture ✨)

Chinese Garter, sometimes called 10-20 depending on your location (but in the capital city Manila, 10-20 is a similar game with garter but still different) is a Filipino street game that's popular among kids, especially to little girls and effeminate boys. Like what you just saw in the episode, the goal is to go over the other side of the garter by either jumping over it or doing a cartwheel to catch the garter with your foot. All players are divided into groups and the leaders are called "MADER/MOTHER". The group who's most members were able to jump all levels win.
We need to know the tea in that Turing fainting moment. Why was Viñas being shady?

Chinese garter is basically like a street game since kids can't afford expensive toys, although they're such a part of our culture that even though I grew up privileged, we still played it as kids. The one I played the most as a kid was shatong which is basically a simplified baseball played with a long stick as a bat and a short stick as a ball. Other games use common items like slippers, or are just drawn on dirt like our version of hopscotch

I think added screen time on Paula Nicole is still pretty fair. We see it a lot on acting challenges in Drag Race where some queens get more lines than others. Honestly, it’s a double edged sword because you may have more screen time, but it also means you have more lines to memorize and add a theatrical spin on.
Either way though, I still really loved Viñas’ performance. That was truly memorable because Zsa Zsa is a chameleon in the Philippine music industry. The lips were a vital nuance and if Viñas didn’t add that in, the experience wouldn’t be complete. hahaha

Totally agree with you with Marina's runway dress. I like her a lot however, her dresses seem to look inexpensive. I felt the same way with her Siokoy(Merman/maid) costume on episode 3. Could be the fabric she's using not really sure. Compare her dresses to Viñas's dresses, Viñas's look expensive.
Also, so many people are protesting Turing's elimination but I share the same opinion that Lady Morgana outshined her in that lypsynch. Kinda surprising given that performance is Turing's forte. Her emotions probably got in the way but based on what I saw, they made the right decision.

Misis Vinas and Xil are definitely tops, as for Marina she's giving like Yara Sofia AS6 as Shakira "Her hips don't lie, but her face does." I don't agree with the bottom 2, no shade to Brigiding but her runway saved her. And if it weren't Turing and Lady Morgana lip syncing, we won't get that awesome lip sync from the both of them. So sad miss Turing's drag race journey ended so quickly, but Lady Morgana ate that lip sync so I guess it's kinda okay(?). Will definitely buy Turing's merch for her to get some coins while shes getting ready for All Stars or Vs the world.

I grew up loving these Filipino divas. I thought the queens did great with the diva they we're assigned to. I honestly think that each queen was somehow assigned to the diva they can relate most except Lady Morgana. It felt like she was the one who was given the hardest to paint and dress compared the other divas - even Jon Santos, the guest judge and a known impersonator himself applued LM for doing Lea in the best of her ability.
I thought that every queen was given the closest diva they can impersonate but Lady Morgana because Xil was given Pilita a classic singer of 60's (or 70's, not sure) she's on the old side like how is Xil is known so maybe they thought Xil can get away with performing her, Minty was Moira literally the only diva that can put you to sleep (and jiggly read her to wake up bcs giving sleepy/wasted on the stage Lol but I think that's the only comedic route she can play given her diva), Viñas was given Zsazsa (Sasha) the queen known for her quivering lips when performing, Marina was given SarahG a singer performer that can dance the hands down boots mawma owkrrr (also Marina looked and moved like how Sarah would perform that's why I thought she should be the winner of this episode), Precious was a no brainer Regine - she's been doing Regine for years and I first knew Precious as a Regine impersonator. Honestly, Turing did fine as Sharon but her runways have been her weak spot in the last 4 episodes now.
I'm sad to see turing go😭 but Lady Morgana lipsynced for life. Good for her. I get it why people are bashing her bcs she sent a contender home. Turing literally had an epiphany last weeks girl group challenge and now seeing her go upsets some fans.

By far, Precious really nailed the maxi challenge. The impersonation was spot on. It's given that she nails it bec she's been doing it for years, but she didn't rest on that. She worked harder bec she knew that she had to nail it.
I also agree with the bottom 2. Turing, although I love her to the core, still needs some developing in terms of her drag.
One thing is for sure tho, she's going to be back on Season 2. Hahaha. Just my prediction.

Hi Valery! I always enjoy listening to your insights, I find myself agreeing to them most of the time! You're right, some judges' comments don't go over well, and Precious did have some advantage. Having said that, as a Filipino who's familiar with the queens Xilhouette and Marina really slayed it and I wouldn't be mad if either of them won. I love Viñas but it wasn't a good impersonation. In most Pinoy chat groups the consensus is that Minty and Brigiding should've been in the bottom with Morgana.
Lastly, though I agree that Morgana won that lsfyl, Turing did NOT deserve to be in the bottom in the first place. Her impersonation was spot-on! It's weird that runways seem to be a big factor in determining the placements in PH, unlike other franchises. It favored Minty over Turing, which should've been the other way around.
Anyway, it is how it is. Still loving this season and all the queens in general. It wouldn't be Drag Race w/o the gaggery lol. Always looking forward to your videos miss ma'am you look divine as always!!!

I agree that Lady Morgana slayed the lip sync...but I don't agree that Turing should be in the bottom. Turing impersonation is not the best but she was not the worst. I think Brigiding's impersonation was the weakest.
Also, I they did Minty Fresh injustice by giving her Moira to impersonate. Moira has a very bland personality, it's like Thorgy Thor-Stevie Nicks moment. Plus Moira is not a gay icon, and she wrote a homophobic song about lesbians.

Let me just correct you on the Moira homophobic thing, because what you said is misinformation.
1st. Moira did not write the song Titibo-Tibo which is the song you are claiming to be homophobic. It was a song submitted to Himig Handog, a song writing competition. Moira was asked to interpret it for the competition and the song won. Moira decided to add it to her album Malaya after.
2. The writer of the song based her composition from her personal experience, and did not intentionally write it to be dissmisive or push the agenda that people from the community can be changed by finding the right one.
3. The composer and writer of the song is in fact part of the community, being bisexual. Her story was featured in an episode of MMK.
So there just to clear things up since people want to demonize Moira for some reason. I do agree that there could be better choices than her to be included in the Diva lineup, but let's not act like Ms. Moira is a talentless boring hag. She's one of the most streamed OPM artist in the country, and has one of the more stylistic and distinct voices in the industry.
Same re Jiggly's comment. Turing shouldn't be held at a higher standard just because she's plus size. It's like they're saying that her being a different size or shape from the other queens plays a huge factor into how she is being judged which would be unfair. If its padding or 'proportionizing' they're referring to, there are skinny queens who don't pad and get a free pass.
Turing embodied her assigned diva really well and was able to get the mannerisms which was the main point of the challenge. She did not deserve to be in the bottom 2.
