A good lobster roll is loaded with lobster meat with just enough mayo to keep it together. Lots of add-ins reduces its value and taste. No local refers to a sandwich as a grinder. Sub shops are everywhere and offer a variety of foods, mostly to-go. The North End is THE place for quality Italian food. Enjoy Boston as it’s a great small city and very walkable.

Logan is in Boston proper, in the East Boston neighborhood. It isn’t 3 miles from Boston, as it is in Boston! It is however, about that far from downtown Boston.
These are some great tips on Boston! As I have been to Boston several times in the past decade, I agree with many of these! I really like how walkable the city is. I never drive in the city as I always take the Silver Line from Logan Airport into the city. Stopping at Quincy Market for the clam chowder at Boston Chowda is a tradition I have done every year (except for my very first trip to Boston). It is quite good! I have a couple tips and recommendations which I will share from my experiences: 1. Definitely check out the Prudential Center in the Back Bay neighborhood for shopping and an observation deck with great views of the city and the surrounding area. There is also an Eataly there too! 2. For some great pizza, I recommend checking out Santarpio's Pizza over in East Boston. I learned about it from a good friend of mine who is from Rhode Island. You will need to take the Blue Line to Maverick Station, and it is not far of a walk. I went there several years ago with friends, and the pizza was amazing! Be warned that it is cash only. I need to go back to Boston soon! It is one of my favorite cities in the United States!
Thanks for the extra tips on Boston.. I'll definitely need to check out the Prudential Center and Santarpios pizza on my next visit. And I love Eataly :)
I was born and raised in Boston. It's a beautiful city rich in history. I don't live there anymore because I can't handle the winters, but I miss the fall.

My family and I are heading there in 3 weeks and staying in Waltham. Could you supply a few spots where we can eat, experience Boston but not break the bank? Thanks in advance.
A lot of the boston hotels have been getting renovated with elevators installed, AC units replaced, and making some of the rooms more modern while at the same time keeping rooms that are historic. There are a bunch of new hotels in the seaport district that I rather like
Born and raised in Boston and I tell you this is greater Boston but if you get into Metro and the Boston suburbs and urban areas then you are getting into real diversity and what the true Boston has too offer
We watched a bunch a videos in preparation for our trip to Boston. This is by far the best. It's concise and extremenly informative. The focus is attractions so if you're interested in restaurants try another video.

There's so much great food in Boston, you totally missed Chinatown and Back Bay. There are fantastic ethnic food spots all over the city (and across the rivah in Cambridge). And visiting Boston Public Library is a must.
Thank you for adding this: Chinatown and Back Bay. There are fantastic ethnic food spots all over the city (and across the river in Cambridge). And visiting Boston Public Library is a must.
The Boston Public Library is such a treasure ... so, so beautiful! The first free, municipal public library in the world. And the Boston Athenaeum (a membership-based private library) is also spectacular. A library, cultural center and art museum all rolled into one. They run daily tours of the place ... totally work going. It's at 10 1/2 Beacon Street.
This is one of the best vids on Boston. I use subway and walk most when I visit and Uber is worth it over taxi. If visiting salem ma ferry is definitely worthwhile.
You should do more videos about Boston. I’m from right over the border in New Hampshire and I loved learning and hearing about what you had to say about Boston. :)
Four sure. He made some many little mistakes...... the biggest offender was grinder.. who the heck says that!! Subs. Always been subs. And canolis are made with mascopone cheese, not ricotta.
Agreed. Also, the most entertaining part of this video is the crab hats the people are wearing in the background of the segment where he talks about lobster rolls
This is an excellent video, mostly spot on. However, do not eat at Quincy market. Just about all of the food vendors there are low quality. But, other than that, seafood almost anywhere in New England will be top notch. Clam chowder is also very different from restaurant to restaurant. But they are almost always very very good.
If you’re willing to drive out of Boston for food, there’s a place called Riverview Restaurant in Ipswich. They’re a great cash only mom & pop that only sells Pizza, beer and soda. Oh, and it’s right near the train, so you can easily get there from North Station.
Excellent video! Thanks for the warning about not driving. So many travel videos fail to mention the road situation here in Boston. Its all one big knotted mess! My only criticism, The Boston Marathon IS on a holiday! Patriots Day is a state holiday to pay respects to the Minutemen and its the day the British army stopped its takeover of Boston.
I'M FROM BOSTON!!! Mike's Pastry is good, but it's the typical tourist spot with long lines (think Geno's Cheesesteaks in Philly). The REAL best spot for cannolis in the North End is Bova's Bakery. Love Beacon Hill! I used to walk around that neighborhood just to take photos. Would spend a good two to three hours just shooting photography. Quincy Market is a great spot to sample various Boston fair, especially for first timers. Fun fact... at the 11:03 mark on your video, the bar over your right shoulder is the Bell in Hand Tavern. It's the oldest bar in America. Also, Boston Marathon is held on Patriot's Day, which is a holiday for us in Boston. Usually there are several events going on including the marathon, Red Sox home game and even a Celtics or Bruins home game. Finally, one place you forgot to mention is...THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE!! Its consistently ranked Top 3 in the US and National Geographic named it the top science museum in the country. Its right next to the river and a must for everyone!!
ive lived here my whole life and have still yet to hear a single person call them grinders.. When i tell my out of state friends i have a sub they get so confused....
I like the video, you’re very good on camera and some good info. I lived in Mass and Boston for many years. I know the city very well. I do wish that travel experts would give a glimpse of the places that are not tourists traps, and show a bit of the character of the city, more than just over-priced food at Quincy market that isn’t really a representation of the food of the city. Perhaps your next Boston video should include some really cool, fun neighborhoods like Jamaica Plain, Central Square in Cambridge, Davis Square in Somerville, Coolidge Corner in Brookline, all safe neighbors accessible by the T. These neighborhoods boast some very eclectic ethic foods, unique shops and live music clubs. One very cool historical jewel is Castle Island/Fort Independence in Southie (South Boston). It is one of the oldest fortified sites in the US, and built in 1833, used since 1633, to protect the Boston Harbour. This is the tip of Boston and you can watch planes come in to land at Logan just a couple hundred feet over head as they cross the harbor, bike, and enjoy the breeze at the water of the harbor. To get there you have to take a bus, car or Uber from the Red line station in South Boston. You’d actually have to live in Boston to hear the rare “Wicked pissah” or run into Mark Wahlberg. A shout out to Summer Shack at the Alewife T station at the terminus of the red line. Great seafood and drinks!
Great video. For the viewers….I just spent a week there and I will say this. If you’re going to do chowder in Quincey Market, make sure it is at Ned Devine’s because it is in the hall of fame and award winning which is no easy feat for the chowder capital of the country. Also, with hotels being super expensive that are close to downtown Boston, just stay a little outside Boston if they offer a free shuttle to the airport. Then use it because there is a subway terminal at the airport, so you just take the hotel shuttle to the airport, then use the airport bus to the subway and get on the Blue Line, get off at State Street and it brings you right underneath the Old State House, one of the stops on the Freedom Trail. (Which is also a few blocks from the Union Oyster House, North End and great food, and Quincey Market). Or you can get off at the Aquarium stop and that is where you’d go for whale watching cruises and all of that by the harbor. Plus if you’re military you ride the subway for free, just show one of the metro employees your CAC card and they’ll scan you through. When you’re done for the day, just head back to the Old StateHouse and get on the subway again, get of at the airport stop, then bus to one of the terminals and call the hotel for a shuttle ride back. Hope this helps.
@@YellowProductions You’re welcome. I absolutely love to travel all over the place and like to find hidden gems and have traveled to close to twenty countries so far, and almost forty of the fifty states. About to get out of the Army soon so more traveling is on my list for sure once I get out.
So as a New Englander born and raised a number of things to know about Boston that was not mentioned on this video. The first thing is if you park under the Boston Common Garage be careful of a lot of homeless that sleep in and out of the entrances when you’re leaving the Garage. The second thing is to get to the John F Kennedy Museum it’s in a section of Boston called Dorchester mass.To get there hop on the MBTA Red line at Park street station and take the train to JFK UMASS stop and they have a shuttle bus to get you there. If you want to a Boston duck Tour which is really fun to do and strongly recommend.I recommend that you book the duck tour on line and they leave from the Museum of Science which is Science park station on the green line. The Duck tours take you around the sights and also a tour of the Charles river like I mentioned if you have kids they will love it .If you don’t want to do a Duck tour just a regular sightseeing cruise they go out of Rowes Wharf which is a short walk from Quincy Market about 5 minutes. They have Dinner, lunch,Whale watches and just regular sightseeing tours. The Children’s Museum is another great place to go and that’s on the Red line at South station and it’s about a 5 minute walk.So like it’s mentioned on here if you love Italian food definitely the North End they have a lot of Italian festivals but there has not been any because of COVID-19 .So this coming August they are going to have the St Anthony’s festival which is the best out of all them and it’s huge .So if you’re not doing the festival’s and visiting the north end I strongly recommend Pizza Regina great pizza. There is usually a long wait during the summer time and just to let you know they don’t accept credit cards Cash only .If you want to go to Fenway park and do a Park tour also I recommend you make your reversions on line.If you also go to a Red Sox’s I recommend you take the MBTA to the game because parking will soak you between 40 to 60.00 to Park .On Hotels if you want to save money I recommend that you look outside of the city it’s less expensive. So look into the city’s North of Boston cities of Somerville,Medford,Cambridge,Woburn Mass .iIf you’re coming from the west off the Pike the city’s of Newton and Brookline .If your looking outside of Boston for Cilvl War Buffs it’s located in Somerville Mass at Prospect hill 15 minutes from Downtown Boston near Union Sq in Somerville mass it’s were George Washington raised the second American flag on Jan 1 1776 .I recommend when you’re walking in Boston always use a crosswalk because a lot of Boston drivers are crazy .It’s a great and fun city to visit no doubt about it enjoy your stay

Depends on when you are coming. Boston is a big college city, so by August the city is full, and often the next few months have the parents visiting so Cambridge, Boston, Brookline, Brighton, hotel and smaller venues are busy. Also the Fall sometimes has tourists who visit the surrounding areas for foliage viewing. If there are only a few of you (without children) you may check the B&B and smaller places. The further you get from the city (near the airport, Revere, Chelsea, South Boston) then you must depend on public transportation, which can be hit or miss. Choose a location and then go to Mapquest and put in basic information for Boston (Fenway Park, Copley Square, Harvard University, Northeastern University, Museum of Fine Arts) to see how far you are from that location. @@MissLilly-vn2wt

It's usually called a sub, not a grinder. And the Boston Marathon is run on a state holiday, called Patriots day. (It is for the battles of Lexington and Concord during the revolutionary war.)
Very good job. Great that you found $15 parking. I'm old enough to remember $5 all day parking. And wicked means "very" as in "wicked good".
Logan is in Boston proper, in the East Boston neighborhood. It isn’t 3 miles from Boston, as it is in Boston! It is however, about that far from downtown Boston.
I am planning my next vacation , you just gave me a great idea! Thanks a lot Chris! Congratulations ! Always an awesome job!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Hildiana!
Bring lots of money. It's very expensive here.
I have a couple tips and recommendations which I will share from my experiences:
And I love Eataly :)
i live up the street from the Santarpios, just be ready for a loot of grease
Santarpio’s is cash only so come prepared
For pizza I would go with either Enzo's or Pizzeria Regina in the North End.Maybe even Sal's on Tremont St.I have live in Massachusetts my whole life.
@YellowProductio Santarpio's is in East Boston.
I was born and raised in Boston. It's a beautiful city rich in history. I don't live there anymore because I can't handle the winters, but I miss the fall.
i’ve lived in boston my whole life and still learned something new! great vid :)
I had no idea we had free WiFi around the city
As a fellow Bostonian, these are some great tips. This guy knows what he's talking about!😀
Right on. Thanks TrainFan!
I lived in Boston for 40yrs originally from LA.Love Boston to experience it without breaking the bank avoid tourist trap restaurants and seek out cool places locals go.Once you are done with Boston wait go to Cape Cod! That's where true beauty of MA is. If you like biking best place to do it at the Cape many wonderful bike trails taking you to forests lakes ocean sand dunes. Have fun! Almost forgot DONT drive in Boston its crazy traffic and lots of one way streets. My wife is still confused driving in Boston even after 30yrs,Boston is small enough that you can walk every major place without driving or taking a cab
Thanks for adding this: avoid tourist trap restaurants and seek out cool places locals go. Once you are done with Boston wait go to Cape Cod! That's where true beauty of MA is.
There are a bunch of new hotels in the seaport district that I rather like
I like "modern and historic" :)
@@YellowProductions Chris I didn't like Boston I liked Cambridge and Braintree I have been homeless do u know how I could get to Hawaii

Go to Allston, Brighton for some Korean foods and Dorchester for some good Vietnamese foods! 😄
Dorchester? Please don’t send tourists to Dorchester! 😂😂
OMG, yes to great Korean food in Allston and Brighton. I love Bon Chon on Brighton Ave. After I eat there, I always go to the Chinese bakery across the street.
Driving in Boston is sometimes hard for us locals. But we learned how to drive here so we expect everyone to do something stupid right in front of us and know how to deal with it. :-)
Driving in Boston seems like a series of swear words with stops at Dunkin Donuts.
lol New York is the same way but also Miami drivers are terrible as well lol
Chris, I was in Boston many years ago when I was in college. I had no reason to return until this video, it truly is a great city. I also wanted to mention you are an inspiration for RUclips creators just starting out. Thanks again for a great video. Keep on posting!

Even locals hate driving in Boston. He’s not kidding that it’s a hellish maze full of impatient drivers who will smash into you if you are too slow
Once you treat it as the racetrack that it is, driving in Boston starts to make sense. Drivers here see other cars as obstacles, not as people.
Don't forget that pedestrians jaywalking is the norm.
Boston was not planned as a car city. Lots of tiny streets and one-ways.
Driving in Boston must be hilarious to watch from an aerial view. Cars just going in circles.
i'm from vietnam and i love your voice and your videos. Keep your fire burning

Just arrived in Boston! This was great. Thank you! Sat in the Boston Tea Party Museum, doing a tea tasting in the cafe for $3.99 would recommend 🥰
What a great video. Thank you! You also forgot to mention that 7 of the best hospitals are located in Longwood. We’ve been in Boston for almost four month to treat my daughter’s condition at Boston Children’s hospital. And we are really enjoying Boston. It is. Wicked touristy.
Bova bakery in the North End is my favorite. And it's 24hrs.

That’s a great video! Very well done my friend. It is also important to mention for people that likes to go to bars and nightclubs that the closing time is 2am which doesn’t make a lot of sense. Cheers
Thanks for the extra tip Christian!
Hands down, the best Boston travel video we saw. Thank you so much! We will definitely check out your others!
Thanks Jenny!
Great video. Love all of the extra tips about parking and transportation.

We don’t eat grinders, they are subs
Truth.... that bugged me the moat
I just heard the other day that they call them that in Worcester in certain circles.
Also, a grinder around here is a sub that has a toasted roll.
Or "Spukies", We called them spukies when I was a kid.
Grinders are eaten in Rhode Island. Along with drinking a coffee cabinet.
Some people still call it Beantown. You may want to switch that can of Bush's beans to B & M.
Hub of the Universe.
Good job.
Thanks Dorothy :)
I haven't heard anyone who grew up in Mass refer to it as Beantown.

I've watched 15 seconds of this and I'm pretty sure that only people from Boston have watched this. Also, I am from Boston.
Four sure. He made some many little mistakes...... the biggest offender was grinder.. who the heck says that!! Subs. Always been subs.
And canolis are made with mascopone cheese, not ricotta.
@@billyperry6567 Grinder is a very common term, more central MA though
nope

This is an excellent video, mostly spot on. However, do not eat at Quincy market. Just about all of the food vendors there are low quality. But, other than that, seafood almost anywhere in New England will be top notch. Clam chowder is also very different from restaurant to restaurant. But they are almost always very very good.
where is a good place to eat if not at Quincy market. As a tourist, I'd like to know, thanks
Never been to Boston and I am going next week, this guide sold me. Very well put!

If you’re willing to drive out of Boston for food, there’s a place called Riverview Restaurant in Ipswich. They’re a great cash only mom & pop that only sells Pizza, beer and soda.
Oh, and it’s right near the train, so you can easily get there from North Station.
Thanks for the tip!
is the "Riverview Restaurant in Ipswich. " has a view of the river?
@@anongott It's so close to the river, that at one point, it likely did have a view.
I just found your channel and this is all so helpful! I hope you end up blowing up man!

Super fab! This was so well-done and informative. Going to be visited Boston for the first time soon. Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for the extra tips!
Good follow up.
Just one thing wrong we don’t call them grinders we call them subs! Other than that you did a wicked pissa job 😃
ive lived here my whole life and have still yet to hear a single person call them grinders.. When i tell my out of state friends i have a sub they get so confused....
Yeah grindr is something else which is pretty popular in Boston too!
I have lived in Massachusetts my whole life and I always call them subs
Grindah is a Rhode Island thing
Hi Chris Great job on another useful video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks James!
Thanks for the extra tips Jonathan! I'll check some out on my next visit!
You’re welcome Chris! I want people to see the Boston I love!
could you please recommend a few none tourist trap places? Thanks
Thanks for the extra tips!
@@YellowProductions You’re welcome. I absolutely love to travel all over the place and like to find hidden gems and have traveled to close to twenty countries so far, and almost forty of the fifty states. About to get out of the Army soon so more traveling is on my list for sure once I get out.

Bravo, Chris, amazing video about Boston as i love Boston for it's unusual beauty and special difference from other cities. Thanks

This was incredibly helpful information!
Thanks for the extra tips!

Any recommendations of a travel friendly suburb to stay for affordability and cleanliness but easy to get to the city attractions, thanks💐
