    Hahaha you should see the guys in the Detroit river that don’t even care about the barges. Great vlog subbed

    I have never used a dipsey! I fish the Missouri River in South Dakota and would like to try them. I need to get down to 40ft, what size dipsey should I get and what line should I use? Thank You

      If you need to present your bait (spoon or plug) at 40 ft down, just use the standard dipsey with a ring. If you’re chasing Salmon, you’ll also need to put a snubber on the backside between the dipsey and the leader (we use 5-7 ft of 30 lb fluoro). Depending on the weighted dial setting, between 0 and 3 (0 dives deepest, 3 the least), you literally can dial these in to pull your baits right over the fish in their strike zone. AND, very importantly, you MUST use braid (no stretch) for your main line. From the Precision Trolling app, #1 dipsey with standard ring, on a zero setting, will dive to 40 ft if you let it back 78 ft. Additionally, the same dive can be produced on a 3 setting, out 134 ft. I’ve been using them as part of my spread while chasing salmon since 1978; like the Amex slogan, “don’t leave home without it”😎

    Will those coho continue to grow all summer and you can catch them in the fall before they head up the river to spawn?

    • @MadisonAngling
      @MadisonAngling  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes! They will continue to put on quite a bit of weight over the next few months

    No way that dipsey on a #3 setting, 40 back, is getting down into 18-20 ft. According to Precision Trolling, your presentation is at 12 ft.

      They were on a 2.5 setting, and according to my livescope it was dead on at 18 feet down, which is why I run livescope for trolling. Far more accurate than any app - completely changed my trolling accuracy for the better. I can get my lines usually within a few feet (even wire divers way down deep) of where I want them.
