Thanks! Was Scott’s idea at a pre-Covid rehearsal. “Hey Chris- why not play some cool chords by yourself there.” Slight Panic. Luckily I came up with something under the gun lol. I love the idea too. Really pays homage to the song by pausing to admire it like a painting. The song is truly bigger than any of us.
After so many years oh sound alike bands weather report took jazz in a different direction it is nice to hear are the musicians proceeding on those musical ideas from zawinul and shorter Keep it up guys love it
This is fabulous. I've just finished reading Elegant People and it's re-ignited my passion for the band. I saw them twice in the mid-70s, the first with Acuna and Badrena, the second time with Erskine. They blew my mind!
I'm sorry I'm watering up this is so good Jaco P and Josef Z would be Proud rest in Power thank you for upload and love this Carneval and Carribean Song
Mysterious Traveler is actually the (rather uninspired but effective) name of our band lol. That’s why it says Mysterious Traveler at the beginning of the video, not because I’m a big dummy haha.
Chris - This is terrific. In case you haven't seen it, JP has posted a WR audience recording from 1977-Apr-22 @Berklee Performance Center in Boston on RUclips back in March 2022.
Love Joe Zawinul. Miss him and Jaco. I was just thinking, you know, this sounds like a "Spyro Gyra" tune... and Lo & Behold!... there he is: Mr. Scott Ambush! One of my favorite Spyro Gyra tunes: "Waltz for Isabel" (Dreams Beyond Control 1993).
In high school I got into an argument with somebody about who was better; Spyro Gyra or weather report. Because we were dumb and thought that we had to take sides back in the old days. I never thought I’d be in a weather report band with the bass player from Spyro Gyra someday lol.
@@chrisfischer9825 Somehow I kinda hear a tiny bit of SG in this performance. It's not just the bass, but also your synth and some bits harmonizing of the steel pans.
Yeah it’s all the rage, Rich...still pans are the new thing. They have gyroscopes and stabilizers, no more bouncing, sliding across the stage, uncontrolled steel pans. Lol. Fuckin’ spellcheck that’s what.
@@chrisfischer9825 "They have gyroscopes and stabilizers" Perhaps some larger rubber feet on the stands would do the trick. Either way, they are "Still Steel Pans" LOL...... ;-)
That's the original recording. They're just faking it. They know that, don't they? Only an idiot would believe that they were playing! But then again maybe I'm the idiot ......
Joe would be proud! Great all around, energy and still laid back
Man, this was fantastic! I tuned in expecting some watered down cover, but shit! You dudes got it. You more than killed it. Zawinul would be proud.
My fave comment thus far lol
Well DONE!!!!! Music and Video Production ..... BOOM!!!!!!
Surprise breakdown and reharmo at 3:45. gave me goosebumps!

You all are awesome - thank you so much for this...
Amazing that you guys play this without sheet music must take ages to nail. Love it.
Holy Cow Scott! Man that is one of my favs!
Sweet and relaxed! Not many keyboard players are able to do Zawinul stuff. Great sax tone
Great rendition of my favorite Weather Report composition! Nice job, everyone involved!
See you on stage soon Al!

Keep it up guys love it
perhaps jaco's basslines were more appreciated on some other tracks from the album but love that groove on palladium making it my favorite track.
I think the editing adds to it. This is very cool.

Super job, guys. What is the black device on Scott's bass down at the nut? Is it a mute or muffler of some type? Thanks.
Nice.
Beautiful! One of my fave tunes. Keep WR alive!

Still or Steel?
He’s still playing pans. So, still pans. No that was spellcheck thinking it knows everything.thanks for catching!
I am a bit confused about "Still Pans" Is that a new name or typo ????
