- It seems simple enough. Meet @DirtLifestyle ,
@bleepinjeep , and @Rudysadventureanddesignreal in Moab Utah for the OnX Offroad build challenge. But in true Dirt Head fashion I take the opportunity to take the roads less traveled. And don’t worry.. there are some roadside repairs needed along the way.

😂😂 “As usual - I look like a homeless guy in the parking lot” 😂😂
Always
Coolest homeless guy in a parking lot ever!
Hey I use the water bottle to wash all the time, one with soapy water and one with clear...the one gallon windshield washer fluid bottles work best...
Dude despite the equipment issues, the production value just keeps getting better. Well done!
Thanks so much
I just had to swap out my daughters battery yesterday. Went to Local store and got her a DieHard and fixed her up. Battery’s are getting expensive since Covid. $208 for a little one for a Mazda 3. Crazy.
That is so expensive
Awesome episode don’t worry about mic problems we’re all just happy to be along for the ride
I appreciate that
Pretty cool squeezing the Suzuki through those tight spots 😎
Mini wheeler for the win
I’m going to have to use that water jug trick. I’m glad y’all got everything going and back on the road 😎
Always buy the screw top water gallons
I dig your loose cap trick to dribble water out of the gallon jug! I've never thought of that before.
Always buy the screw cap gallons
Hey, you were 10 minutes from my house, enjoying the services of our new Costco. Thanks for stopping by, hope you were treated well.
Nice! That’s a neat area. Great place to call home
Despite the equipment problems, it still didn't suck. Have fun!
It was a good trip
"Top" on the toolbox... classic. I've dumped all that stuff more than once. I have the exact same case. I miss Sears.
Craftsman isn’t the same without sears
The "Catch me if you Can" song you picked for the intro is pure perfection.
Thanks! It’s catchy for sure
Viewer 218 here. Great job with the glory drive by shots and voice overs. Love all your work from DED, ultimate adventure and cameos on Fab Rats and others. Keep up the great work.
Right on! I appreciate the support
I love the Dumpster Fire, but the typical stuff that gets overlooked when building an off road vehicle lol
Yeah. That’s just part of building old stuff
I met Nate in a gas station in Grand Junction just before he was heading to that house to drop the truck off. Fun meeting him.
Right on. You were almost in tis video
This was one of your best episodes so far Dave, keep up the good work! 👍
Thanks, will do!
It looks like it’s about to be good 😎
It was a wild ride
Iv’e been binge watching some of your older videos and have learned a ton. Thanks for doing what you do.
No sweat. Glad you’re digging the shows
Homeless Dave Chapelle’s vehicles are sound. Homeless Dave Freiburger’s vehicles not so much. Enjoying the channel Dave keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching!
Reason #835 why my decision to leave Washington was perfect. Gas when I was in Richland this summer was $4.90 - gas when I got back to San Antonio, $2.95. Love Texas gas prices...
Your editing is getting better and better sir.
Thank you
Raddest dirt road Dave on planet earth!
Thank!
77.9k subscribers! So great this is taking off! Congrats, Dave!
Thank you! It’s pretty amazing
Always uplifting to hear that intro music start and see you zip by on a scooter.
You keep making videos and I'll keep watching them,
I appreciate that.
I LOVE THE 'ZUKI Dave. It is my favorite vehicle on the channel. looking forward to more 'Zuki upgrades!
It’s a good little rig. Not sure how much I’m gonna modify it. It’ll likely be my kids first car.
Couldn't fit a jeep or 4 runner in those tight spots. ! Zuki for the win!
I miss my old 85 Nissan 720 even more after watching this. No real off road rigs in my fleet right now. Still working on the Luv hot rod v8 swap whenever I get a minute. Love your show and im glad you've kept on keepin on!
Thanks for the support! Keep picking away at those projects
As many dirt roads as possible. Love it! I would love to see that feature on OnX.
That would be a cool option
Those Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls are amazing!
They are smaller now than before Covid.. but still amazing
Always stop what I'm doing to watch a new DHS
Rad! I appreciate that
@@thedirtheadshedthat same oreillys saved my day my fuel pump died in that Ace hardware a block away
Dude my go pro keeps over heating! Its so annoying! 💛🖤💛🖤 off road JDM gang! I just installed my 2.5 inch lift kit and I’m so much more trail ready than I was. Now I just need to figure out how to attach a winch. Love your videos, I’m sad I missed you at the Overland Expo in Redmond id love to meet you and cruise sometime. 😁
They can be so frustrating. I’m sure we will cross paths
I passed you while you were broken down on the side of the road! I wish I had stopped but I was 9hrs into a 13hr drive and it appeared that you had there help you needed.
Oh yeah, all good. Hope you had a good trip
Ha.ha..live the notes on hand and TOP on toolbox..I've dumped many a tool and now mine are marked 😂
It only takes a dozen or so times before you do something about it…
Dave that whole area between Missoula and Butte is literally my most favorite place in the world. We’re hoping to move to Deer Lodge within the next year. This was a great watch!
That’s awesome! Good luck with your move
That ram charger 😎❤️❤️😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
It’s a beauty
When Nate painted the Lexus that color I thought it looked awesome but parked next to the Rad Charger it looks kinda bland. Rudy's paint job is next level! I can't wait for the challenges! Thanks for the content Dave!
I dig it. But yes, it’s still a little understated
I’m so jealous of your job. Build cool stuff and travel everywhere. Thanks
I am very thankful that I get to do it as well
Everytime you come to Idaho Falls, my heart jumps with excitement, but then I miss you by hours or days. I am surprised I didn't see ya in the parking lot of Costco on my way home from the hospital. Next time, next time. 😅
Next time. This Suzuki is pretty boring looking, I doubt anyone would pick it out in a crowd
@thedirtheadshed maybe a bright pink mylar Ballon, perhaps in the shape of one elusive/mythical creature would make you easier to spot when covert. It would be a subtle hand wave to those who know. 😉
Interstate Batteries FTW!! Been using them exclusively for the last 30 years.
They are always good
Narrow trail rig for the win!!
Got to have a mini wheeler in the fleet
I knew I saw the orange beast in Montrose on the back of a Ford!
Yep. Nate hauling
As a commercial manager for an OReillys in Grand Junction, I have seen freeway rocks in core boxes 😂
See…. I wasn’t wrong.. cheers
I know it’s The the Offroad Way to help out your fellow offroaders, but it’s cool that all you, Pacific Northwest guys are traveling together and looking out for each other.
It is a pretty tight community for how spread out everyone is
Bad ass. Lots of good wheeling around the Georgetown lake area between Phillipsburg and anaconda...
I need to take a full weekend and wander before snow falls
Brappp I love it I say that all the time
You get it
You’re killing it man. I’d rather watch you film it lol.
I appreciate that!
AWESOME!!!! I didn’t get to shake your hand but I met you guys in Ouray. Was in the silver Tacoma. Keep it up!! Love the content.
Dude, that tacoma looked Legit! Good meeting you
Loved your latest adventure! You drove through some very familiar places that I've seen during my 68 years living in Montana and Colorado and visiting Utah. But have yet to see Moab. Next spring perhaps. Enjoy, be safe and thanks for taking us along!
I hope you make it to Moab. It’s a great place. Take your time once you get there
@@thedirtheadshed Indeed I will!
Sweet ride through the woods, Dave. So true about taking your time.
How hot was it when those damn cameras overheated? Those things can't seem to take any heat. Stuff like that pisses me off because I design electronics for a living. Our stuff works all day every day at 160 °F ambient temps. Those action cam designers need to get it together.
Tell me about it. I have had the hero 10 overheat in the shop at like 80 degrees.
Keep up the awesome content Dave!!!
Will do!! Thanks
Good stuff Dave! Except for being in Moab in July/August...too hot. OnX should have started the competition in Ouray! 👍
It was hot everywhere we went!
That was lots of fun really glad you took the back roads very nice trip
It was a great couple of days
You're killing it dude, keep it up! 💯 🔥
Thank you. I’m trying
Great video keep kicking it.
Thanks! Not stopping anytime soon
Love driving the forest roads of the PNW. Thanks for taking us along.
My first gen Pilot wouldn't have made it through that gate 🙃
Those pilots get bigger every year. The new ones are like a suburban
You should get a cheap drone and you could do some great shots with that thing off-road. Check them out. Be some great content. Thanks for always keeping us going with some killer videos.
I’m contemplating it for sure
Dave as an older man than you, you can pack a camping cot and self inflatable sleeping pad that packs smaller than that egg crate foam roll and much better.
I just grabbed it at the last minute. I didn’t use it on the camping part of the trip
Great Trip.... Thanks for bringing us along, over here in the UK. Keep up the great content.
Thanks for the support!! Cheers
Love adventure trips! keep it up
Will do. Thanks
excited to see more!
There will be some good footage of the wheeling days
Love the views and the adventures,
Be well,
Be safe
Thanks! I’m stoked to get to do these adventures
I'm looking forward to the competition! Best of luck to everyone!
It was a great week
Love it!
Thanks!!
My favorite way into moab from Fruita
Such a great drive
good idea for a video!
Thank you
🦅🇺🇸💪🤠👍 you guys have enough fun for all of us and be careful.
Copy that! Have fun, don’t die
Good luck!
Thank you
Its the adventure!
That’s what it’s all about
Great entertainment ! Ready for this trip to be posted up 🙂
Coming soon
Good episode. Looks like a fun trip on the backroads. Best way to take a trip. I can't wait to see the video of the week full of off roading and challenges. Gonna be fun. And your little Suzuki seems to be holding up well. Nice
Thanks, it’s a great little rig
Some pretty country roads and nice scenery you were driving on to get to Utah.
It sure was
Fantastic content.
Thanks!
I saw that cabin in Red Dead Redemption. Be careful, the area is covered with Grizzlies and mountain lions. Maybe zombies too.
Suzuki xl7 is a great zombie escape vehicle
I found the purple Nissan armada with all the holes in it the other day. It’s sitting in some guys yard out in Idaho. Couldn’t believe it when I saw it.
Yep. A friend of mine bought it
@@thedirtheadshed Does this friend of yours want to sell any Toyotas in his yard, I live in the same town and drool every time I drive by. He’s got a first gen toyota pickup tucked away Id love to get my hands on
He may. Hit up pathfinder outdoors on instagram
Really excited to watch to see all the rigs on the trail. Go Pro has an issue, mine overheat all the time.
The wheeling was really good
You guys shold have had a cruiserhead look at your 80, headgasket, aux pusher fan, brushes in the alternator, oil pump seal, temp gauge in water inlet, hood vents... I have been wheeling a 80 way to long...i know all the common failures off my head...
Where were you when I owned my 80??
@@thedirtheadshed lol.. here in Reno wheeling mine... You guys did a great job with your 80, loved the build and your channel., all rigs have common failure points you just found them the hard way.... If you guys come to rubithon next month I will gladly buy you a liquid refreshments..
All the drama of a DED right here minus a Fred and a fuzzy pink cameo
Go Dave Go!
I’m trying to keep it going!
Born in missoula lived in Mt all my life love that you are stoked to check out mt
It’s such a cool state
So much of it yet that I need to explore heck you saw more on ua then I have I know some areas like the back of my hand but not much else
The writing on your hand always makes me laugh for some reason. Maybe it reminds me of elementary school. Costco batteries are the only way to go, especially if you have a lot of junk that takes batteries. Video quality is fine. Still killin it.
Thanks! Still out here hustling
Gall dang. Filled up here in town earlier today at $3.39/gallon. We thought we had it bad. So it's like $4.79/gallon in WA??!!
Yep. It’s ridiculous
@@thedirtheadshed crazy!!!
Yup.
Yeah!
I'm sure you've heard it before, but the DJI action cameras never overheat or freeze. If you press record, it's records until it runs outta memory card space or battery juice... Plus the DJI mic is a seamless fit with the DJI cameras. Ditch the GoPro
Yep. That’s my next camera. Thanks
@@thedirtheadshed they're great! You'll love them.
In this video at around 9:45 the collapsed building you found is called the Forest Rose Mine. We run this "trail" with our club from Missoula every so often. You would have come in the back side from HWY 1 it's about 30 miles of dirt road. There are other mines in that area also. 😊
Montana is chock full of good dirt roads to explore
@@thedirtheadshed absolutely even more fun in the snow 🤣.
steve solid dude
He is.
You can drive the former RR grade from the top of Lookout Pass to St Regis.
You were on a section of that at the beginning of your video.
Nice. I need to explore more
Nate you should deff install a sealed alternator 80s are notorious for alternators going bad after going thru mud because there so low!!!
Is a sealed alternator even a thing?
Actually the Walmart batteries are excellent (project farm tested!) And the warranty is great too being that there's Walmarts everywhere.
I have heard that twice now
@@thedirtheadshed well maybe next time seeing that you already got one 😁. BTW... Your videos are awesome. 😁
I’ve used a rock on the side of the road to grind corrosion off battery cable ends before!
Keep feeding us Dave! It’s like Christmas when there is a video from you! Was that a Buc-ees?
I appreciate that! Nope. It was a Conoco or Montana Lil’s
Love seeing these style of videos! Bummer about the GoPro's overheating, they're good at that but a great excuse for a camera upgrade ;)
I’m on the hunt
I'd hate to be the one driving the ram charger thru trees😮😮😮
Yeah. It’s big and nice
3:04 LOL
Cheers
It wouldn't surprise me if that was the original alternator.
I’m pretty sure it was
Man, add a scottle and some maxtrax and you'll be a real overlander!
Getting there
One of my favorite things about UA , has been seeing what you have built. I have always wanted to ask when you did dirt every day , what was your favorite vehicle that you or you and Fred built for ultimate adventure?
I really like the diversity too
For the algorithm!
Cheers
Had a green top interstate that got smashed in a fender bender and still cranked
I’m not sure if they are better than others, but I have had great luck too
Bring mazgrande or moms spaghetti for some MT wheelin ! My dad has a fsj on 40s and i got a yota on 37s in SW MT
Nice. Do you have any big rocks to play on?
Hopefully the ONX video is better than the Ultimate Adventure video's now.We don't need comercials, just wheeling.
It will be good.
Fj's save the day!
I keep seeing fj cruisers and thinking I want one
Leaving all the stickers?! Apologize to Derek for not having a go handle!😂😂😂
Glad you caught it
I thought I heard a guy reference a feller😂
That's tommy anderson in the plane.
Right on. Thanks
Hell I'd hang out and change an alternator on the side of the highway with y'all
Where were you ?
@@thedirtheadshed Not driving around out west apparently, maybe one day. I hope Nate and Colt both get to go on UA.
