As a retired studio singer with a busy 55 year career behind me, I am so thrilled to find this video! Many grateful thanks to whoever posted it. Capricorn One was fortunate indeed to have this wonderful score. I had the honor of working with Mr Goldsmith on the movie Poltergeist and took the opportunity to mention to him how much I loved his score for Alien. He smiled and said it was not the greatest of experiences for him, that Ridley Scott had been difficult. Rest In Peace, sir, and thank you for every note!
And I'm back for more! What a splendid tribute to the movie, the man and his music. This never gets old.
Jerry Goldsmith is a legend! Great vid!
Love the pictures of Mr.Goldsmith in his youth.Along with the music makes it more powerful.Great choice zero.
I love film scores and always have! And, even though there is "Star Wars," "Jaws" and everything, the theme from "Capricorn One" is my favorite of all time!
This man is pure Gold🙏
What a legend. My number 1 composer: Jerry Goldsmith
With Mars ablaze in the sky this month, I couldn't help but think of Capricorn One, the fake Mars landing movie. In particular this masterful cut of Goldsmith's fanfare to the dynamic film. So much better than any trailer made at the time!
thank you, kind Sir!
Oh I've watched it enough times, as a video editor myself, to see you aced this cut to Mars and back for real! And watched the trailers from the '70s which felt pretty weak and random by comparison.
subbscribed and i will watch your vids brother. Saw your comment in the Cult of Jerry on fb. Thanks again for your kind words. Jerry rulez supremo!
Haha, thanks! We clearly share some tastes across social media! Here's a shortcut to my film score playlist- not my work but certainly my tastes: ruclips.net/p/PL849A90490F71C661
Jerry Goldsmith produced such varied music for films and TV. Even with the greatest composers you can notice similarities in some of their compositions. Have never thought that about Jerry Goldsmith.
Jerry Goldsmith, my favourite film composer of all time! Great edit on this video sir. A fantastic tribute! Well done! 👍🏻😊
Capricorn One was one of the first movies I saw in the theater by myself. That theme playing over the letters on the plain black background left a distinct impression on me. Also the first thing I remember seeing Sam Waterston in.
Thanks so much for posting this... perhaps the greatest composer in the modern age... I sometimes wonder what composers of the classical era(s) would have thought of his work. I'd like to think that that they too would have been impressed.
...you're welcome.
Still a legendary edit.The zero to be knighted.
thankx brother, always good to hear from you. Hope yer fine :)
I just love his soundtracks
I love his music!
I love this video. I've shared it with people a lot over the last couple of years. Everyone I've messaged with about it thinks it's great. Jerry has a lot of fans and so does the movie. Jerry's score is marvellous. Thanks for sharing this with the world. This is one of the best videos on RUclips, imho. Cheers!
Yup, it ain't gonna get much better than that!

Jerry Goldsmith 1929-2004
Amazing piece of editing by Capt Zero backed with the score of Goldsmith Does not get any better.
Jerry Goldsmith est l'un des plus grands compositeurs américains de musique de films, plus jeune j'avais été impressionné par la musique de "La Planète des singes", ainsi que par "Damien la malédiction II".
This isn't a live performance, it's the studio re-recording from the LP. That said, it's still a masterpiece and a great video edit.
Gracias.
Great edit. Fantastic music and really want to thank you for your work. Didn't you just love Telly 'keep ya goddamned head down' Savalas?!
@Walpermure

The Music made the Movie
must watch the movie again soon.
Great theme, cheers for posting. BTW, your clips of the young Jerry make me think Dustin Hoffman could play him in real life, such is the resemblance!
It's amazing how much Mr. Goldsmith looked like Dustin Hoffman when he was younger.
Hello sir.Long time no see and hear.Still one of my faves this trailer.Executed with pure Excalibur precision.Hope you are well.
Brother Sir Zinx...still on me daily watching routine your superbo vids and always good to hear from you. Everything fine and dandy down here, no sweat. Cheers me brother, keep up yer stellar work.

@GRWR
...thank you!
EPIC! Truly wonderful tribute to the great man, the movie (while great) is really just ironically incidental, the man and his music beautifully encapsulated. Superb work, feels fresh even though I've watched the original version loads of times. Great work made even better!
Je viens de voir Capricorn One hier soir grâce à toi ! j'ai adoré ce thriller politique, ça m'a fait pensé aux premiers films de Michael Crichton (Mondwest et Coma notamment).
Dankeschoen!
Wonderful! Thank you for posting.
@MrBrianClifton
Thank u and now i'm jealous that u met The Maestro.....big score fan here, yes.
"it ain't gonna get much better than that"
Excelente realización de vídeo. ¡¡ FELICITACIONES !!
Great vid! Nicely done! It'd be cool if this was done with some other movies that Goldsmith scored.
@davidfromlille
....merci pour le comment David.
gracias!
¡Apasionante!
@elvirasweeney
..glad u enjoyed it Elvira. Cheers.
I saw this when it was first released in 1977 at a drive-in theater! This music set up the entire movie and it gave me the shivers when I heard it. It is so stark and foreboding, almost to the point of hostility. More proof he was a master at his craft to evoke those types of feelings from musical notes on a page of paper.
You should do the same for Total Recall, Patton, and Star Trek The Motion Picture. Three of his finer themes.
@sinbad0910
....thanks bud. Yer comments are always highly appreciated.
Jerry è il più grande compositore di colonne sonore di sempre

I know there aren't any HD sources for SORCERER (yet, as Friedkin is working on a blu-ray release), but I wish you would do a HD version of your Roy Scheider tribute some day. I love that video.
Like requinromantique says, very well done zerokomma, and with great respect for my mentor whom I've met a couple of times while living in Los Angeles.
You seem to be a true fan of filmmusic aren't you :-)
@tortybits
