    As a person who’s just starting to take interest in fragrances, it’s so interesting to see passionate fragrance heads react distastefully to fragrances they’re bored of. I’ve often heard, everybody smells of this, everybody smells this 3 times a day, it’s boring... when reality is, the vast majority of people don’t wear fragrances. Dont know Creed Aventus or Bleu de Chanel etc... there’s actually a pretty small portion of the population that does indeed actually recognize fragrances let alone smell popular ones so frequently they actually can’t stand to smell it any longer. I do understand they have their own preferences and experiences... just interesting. 🤔

    • @M3ballcity
      @M3ballcity 4 года назад +27

      Same here ! It’s fascinating how we get into this culture and try to get creative or unique, but in the end...none of my friends know parfum de Marly or Maison Francis Kurdijans and they all love my sauvage Dior 🤷🏽‍♂️it’s not that deep lol

      SpleenTv totally agree. I think if you move beyond axe body spray and have a concept for what occasion different fragrances work best within, you’re not wearing so much it’s offensive... I think we’re doing just fine at that point lol.

    • @rustyshackleford17
      @rustyshackleford17 4 года назад +8

      It's like anyone who has a passion for something that mainstream audiences have access to. Some people are fine drinking Jack Daniels...whiskey enthusiasts will find it boring.
      With people in love of fragrances, they're constantly after the next thing that makes them go "whoa." Even before I really got into fragrances, I found many scents that fragheads love to be extremely boring.
      Where ATH lays, he wants something that'll blow his mind. Creed is not that brand. Creed is more of the understated elegance.

    • @theartofflying3580
      @theartofflying3580 4 года назад +3

      Rusty Shackleford totally agree and not arguing any of those points. I’m drawing a distinction that what’s being said here is “everybody smells that way, everybody’s sick of that smell” which is a massive exaggeration. Maybe I’m being too particular with words and what they mean is “everybody in the frag community”... but the blanket statement was way off if you’re actually talking in the real sense. Very few people are even actively interested in fragrances.

    I really like that Aaron liked green Irish tweed, but I think it’s much less of a ‘blue’ fragrance, but more of an absolute Irish fragrance. I wish I could explain it better but it just reminds me of Ireland (I’ve never even been there!). It feels like people in the 90s, wearing woolen overcoats across a very watery garden. The garden is bright green, and there’s a brook close by.

      Taha Adnan Aaron is an artist, perfumery is an art as much as it is a science and that’s where most of us who are just fragrance enthusiasts fall short of understanding the true nature behind perfumery. It’s not about getting compliments, it’s not about what fragrance is beast mode or not or what is a banger, it’s about getting to the heart of the craft. To listen to someone who is so excited about keeping true to perfumeries true form is refreshing. He makes very valid points in that Creed is very, very money-driven in their approach to creating compositions. It’s about emotional and spiritual connections with a fragrance, something that blows your hair back. Whether you will want a recommendation from him is one thing but to say he’s too dramatic is short sighted. If you listen to any master perfumer, most of which I can guarantee have crafted some of the fragrances you all wear, they all speak similarly to the craft as Aaron does

      @@Peter-tc3ep I personally don't find him fake. I think he has very particular tastes in fragrance. He doesn't seem to go for classic fragrances which many of these are. I think he would much prefer houses like Zoologist who are much more daring in their releases. I am sure he wants to sell his fragrance line but I haven't once even seen him mention where or how to buy them in any of these videos so I don't think he comes across as putting down other fragrances just to sell his own stuff.

      @dcjimr1 4 года назад +3

      @Matthew Davies I think that's a fair point, Matthew. I don't want to come across as hating Aventus, either. It's a pleasant fragrance but I simply do not get the hype around this at all. I can't tell you how many times I've sprayed this on me waiting (wanting) to fall in love with it like 80 percent of the people I see commenting on RUclips, but it just never happens. My reaction is always "meh...that's nice." To be absolutely honest, I think I have that reaction to most Creed fragrances. The only one I own is Green Irish Tweed, and there are days I have the same reaction to that. 😄What I like about Aaron's reviews is that he also takes into account the price of a fragrance when giving his overall opinion. I think he's stated that there are many fragrances that he would have recommended if they had been priced lower, even though they might not be what he himself would like or wear. Cheers!

    I score this episode 12 out of 10! Brilliance and honesty together! Unheard of from an industry that seems to prey upon the consumer with reformulations following an original grand success and seldom do we truly know the bait and switch. IMHO, it is a mistake to buy reformulations. It strikes me the best version is on the initial release, best pricing, then they seem to catch the wave and after that cut corners, raise prices, cut bottle sizes. Roja's Creation-E comes to mind, with pricing for a 100 ml bottle on release later essentially becoming the price on a 50 ml bottle--and reformulated?!? MY WORST HEARTBREAK WAS AVENTUS. My first bottle bought was in 2010. It was to die for. My last--and never again at any price--bottle was late 2019. It is not the same juice. I personally consider this a fraud. AND, my goodness, no one knows when someone's reviews of an AVENTUS is which lot, which year. (Thank you for mentioning this AVENTUS is from 2016.) But, it applies across all lineups. MY THEORY: If you like a scent in its year of release, by it then, and never again to avoid heartbreak in later years when it has been reformulated. After all, perfumes are NOT LIKE VINTAGE WINE, over which the chateau haven't control of the weather, the forces of nature coming to bear and one vintage to the next varies. Yet, the perfume industry changes formulations in a brand from one year to the next as often as the weather changes the grapes and the wine, with some vintages of wine great and others plonk. IF THE PERFUME HOUSES WOULD DO LIKE THE GREAT COGNAC HOUSES DO, THEY WOULD INSPIRE LOYALTY. I love Hennessey Paradis. That house tries to mix it's blends every year to keep the taste as close as possible from on year to the next. The perfume industry could, should do the same. If they want reformulate, by golly, they should change the name of the release, not keep the same. At a minimum, they should at least stamp in bold letters on the bottle label the "vintage" year. AVENTUS (2010), AVENTUS (2016), etc.
