Nice work Angus. Never seen this done before. So after you let the wing go, does it have a drogue to stop it drifting. What’s the strongest wind you’ve tried it? And what foil you on?

Thanks. So I’ve tried using a sea anchor but I’m not too keen on that because then I have to paddle all the way back upwind to get the wing back. This way I just sit there for a minute and catch my breath while it floats downwind. This works great under 11 knots but over the wing will start to flip and that makes it go very fast. The wind kicked up to 16 knots on me the other weekend and I thought I had lost the wing for sure but luckily it eventually stopped flipping so I could catch it.

Keep in mind I use a 19” wide board that I can knee paddle so my paddle speed for chasing the wing down is quite fast as well, but one I get tired I can’t h keep the speed up.

I was using the PNG 1300v2 and skinny 45 tail. That’s a 1650 sqcm 1300 mm span wing.

@@slappysurf my biggest hand wing though is a 4.5 as I usually kite foil in lighter winds so if I can get going on a 4.5 it might be a bit windy for trying it. Let’s see!

@ Yeah 4.5 will be a bit rough in 10 knots but with the 1300v2 might be doable on a 19" or less board. Never know until you try.
