- The Canadian author Matti Friedman explores Leonard Cohen's surprising Sinai performance in a new book named "Who By Fire."
"I saw this really weird concert tour taking place in the middle of the Yom Kippur War, and it always struck me as being very strange and very powerful moment that someone needed to unravel. What was one of the greatest artists at that time doing at the tip of the Sinai front, at what might have been the worst moment in Israel's history post-1948," Matti Friedman told i24NEWS.

Iranian Jews should support IRAN.
Ashkenazis are not nice people and you know it.
@@ciaronsmith4995there are over 200,000 Jews of Iranian birth or decent living outside Iran. Less than 10,000 are left in Iran.
My husband and I were born in Iran, and our children were born in the US. Why would we be supporting Iran against anyone, let alone Israel?
Translation this book for Portuguese, please.
If you think new skin for the old ceremoni to halleluja ❤
Leonard Cohen much better than Bob Dylan. The best!
No... They're both great! Completely different.. Cohen had massive respect for him
Egyptian forces? You Saudi Arabians living in Egypt calling themselves Egypt. Same problem with palistians they are also Saudi Arabians that Saudi Arabia does want back lol
The battle of the great amalekite arabs happened in Sinai desert we will not forget that
@Sydney Lechien that's not a lie the amalekite were arabs we want an open investigation for what happened
Forget what? that u surprised us on our most holy day and in the end u lost as usual.
@@tamaralexander9379 - they attacked first why they came to Sinai desert this is arab territory
@@generaljg4373 In 1973? Even Egypt and Syria admitted that attacked first.
@@generaljg4373 You are so involved in hate and war so much you never ever consider music. Because music is outlawed in most muslim countries. What fun partiers you must be.
Go write some great songs like Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan if your people can even get close to that height of art. But again a people so involved in hate and war never has time for art or music.
Israel is lucky Iran and Turkey didn't get involved.
Leonard Cohen would have cancelled if the Persian artillery was headed that way.
Trust me.
At that time Turkey was a friend of Israel it was secular the same way Iran was secular and good friend with Israel.
Ha, ha, ha
Never knew he had done this. It's definitely a stain on my memory of him. Playing music to monsters.
Isn't it terrible that we Jews refuse to lie down quietly in the ditch like our Grandparents did?
You could have just written, "I'm a resentful loser '
I think his opinion on Zionism is very complex. Listen to ‘The Story of Isaac’.
That being said, Free Palestine
Dirty - I think you should stop listening to his music. Also, please stop using any pharmaceuticals or computer devices invented or improved by Israel.
That's what another TRUE monster thought of the Jews as well. Your words seem to reflect a very sick psychology, full of hatred, that you probably hide from yourself (only) under some leftist/woke ideology.
