Someone got to make up all the lost millions the MTA loses from people not paying bus and train fares in New York City this is just the beginning they will raise it every year or two it will never end , it’s sad people are forced to pay
The citizens of NY should make up for all the lost millions the MTA loses from people not paying. It's a NY problem, don't look to people from other states to fix your problems.
This congestion tax scheme will only benefit the MTA. I lived in NYC many years and every time the MTA raise the price to cover projects that’s not necessary.
And the MTA is again raising the fare in 2025, on top of the new $9 tax being imposed by motorists from the outer boroughs and other states. Where is the accountability Gov. Hochul? Pay for your own damn subway!
NJ has very robust mass transit. How about NY pay for its own system rather than taxing people from the outer boroughs or other states? Maybe NJ should tax New Yorkers for every and all things.
RIGHT HERE THEY NEED TO PUT N.Y.P.D. POLICE TRANSIT 🚇🚇 DISTRICT COPS 👮♀️ 👮♂️ 🚔 DOWNSTAIRS INSIDE NEAR THE SUBWAY TRAIN 🚇🚇 STATION PLATFORMS NOT AT THE TURNSTYLES WHERE YOU SCAN & $$$ PAY 2.90 CENTS WITH YOUR OMNY SCANNER CARD PASS.
I like how he talks like anyone is powerful in NJ, I’m confused. We’ll lose our “federal” funding says New Jersey. Lol I can admire the confidence though.
Sounds good on paper, but my IT role for example pays an extra 40k average annually in NYC due to higher COL, I’m sure it’s the same for many other fields.
HERE IS MY SOLUTION. Have NJ Transit cut fares to a 1/4 they are now and have not just the state subsidized the train more but require counties and towns that have stations in them to subsidize it. These towns where the train stations are located benefit from the train service and the commuters who patronize the local businesses there but pay diddly squat towards the train. The counties pay zero towards to train too! A one way ticket from Trenton to NYC one way is almost $20. Month pass now exceeds $550. If you made Trenton to NYC tickets $5 and from MetroPark Station $3 instead of $12.35, so many more people would ride the train into the city and points in between. NJ wants to cry and cry about oh the traffic and oh the pollution but you are doing diddly squat about making the train more affordable!
Congestion tax sounds like a Massachusetts idea where people are dumb enough to fall for it. New Yorkers aren’t that stupid and they’ll be complaining when food and clothing prices increase because they’re delivered to NYC on trucks getting congestion taxed. Maybe if Blooomberg and Governor Jokeul didn’t blockade half the NYC traffic lanes there wouldn’t be “congestion.” They planned this from the start when they painted some lanes green (bike lanes), other lanes red (bus lanes), then installed bike racks in the middle of the road and planted trees in huge concrete pots in the middle of the street. Who could have known that shutting down half the traffic lanes would cause slower traffic?
Why doesn't the MTA improve its own mass transit instead of taxing people from other states? If you ride the subway, then you should pay for it to maintain it, not tax others, not displace congestion, not engender cancer causing pollution in another state. Own it!!!
@@dantove963 They're taxing people within NYC whether they live in NYC or live in NJ, you don't want to pay, don't drive into NYC. Pretty simple. Also driving is the most subsidized form of transportation that exists, if you think a $9 congestion tax is bad you'd lose your mind if you had to ACTUALLY pay the real cost for car infrastructure.
@@Casual_Stroll They are primarily taxing New Jersey drivers who already pay upwards of $16 for the tunnels/bridges for the PA (much of that money already goes to NY). It is outrageous! An as for subsidies, nothing is more subsidized than the MTA, so spare me your sob story. PY pay for the real cost of living in NYC and riding the subway instead of engaging in a money grab from people who don't use your crappy subway. And let's not forget that NYC is just hurting itself from all the lost revenue from people who will go elsewhere. The $9 (which is going up to $15), will not compensate for those who chose to spend their money elsewhere. Your loss asshole.

There aren't any new bonus subway lines in New Jersey. Just the unchanged commuter rail and unchanged light rail in NJ.

Its a slippery slope.

New Jersey riders funding MTA they can not use mass transit where they live cause there are no subway.

I hope this causes many businesses to leave NYC and head to ever growing Jersey City and Hoboken.

Who is going to pay for that?
Yeah well, Where is your Governor Buggs Moran
Title should be: NJ drivers burden on Manhattanites
NJ increases gas tax and turnpike tolls all the time
So why should NJ pay for the MTA?
How about worrying about the high rent and cost of living in the Tri-State area
But congestion pricing ain’t it .
@jjcashflow3690 That money is for the MTA.
I like how he talks like anyone is powerful in NJ, I’m confused. We’ll lose our “federal” funding says New Jersey. Lol I can admire the confidence though.
the mta is awful
Work in NJ if you live in NJ?
Sounds good on paper, but my IT role for example pays an extra 40k average annually in NYC due to higher COL, I’m sure it’s the same for many other fields.
Dude, work on increasing service and lowering costs of NJ Transit, who your constituents probably use more than driving.
Now can you imagine if Boston had this
😢

Nope I own a restaurant on 3rd avenue and we'll be saving money once our deliveries get to come quicker.
Why doesn't new jersey improve it own mass transit we need more buses and trains to NYC

And who is going to pay for that?
The turnpike comes as a cost to NYC families.
So does riding the subway for NJ families going into NYC for work but apparently that isn't enough for Money Thrown Away (aka MTA).
@juanzingarello4005 work in jersey problem solved
