Great video. This manga is a fuckin' masterpiece and I'm glad to see it get more love. It's technically just a spin-off fanfic, but it has some Go Nagai-caliber scenes that are absolutely haunting, one of the most interesting protagonists I've ever seen, fantastic art and above all else, it's got balls. It's based on a Shonen Jump manga, the king of "NEVER GIVE UP, FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS!" publications, and yet it tells you: "Inborn talent is a real thing. Not everyone can be the best, and not everyone is entitled to become a hero. The expectation that 'hard work and guts equals success, always' can completely destroy your life and turn you into a selfish monster. It's better to be there for those you love than to follow an impossible dream."
The scene where the nuke hit was pure visual storytelling genius; if it came from some 70s or 80s manga and not an obscure semi-recent FoTNS side story it would've been iconic as hell and remembered by everyone.
I made a video review of it too last year, but it's old and the audio is really crap. Nonetheless I still stand behind everything I said back then (I spoil everything though, but whatever, everyone knows how Jagi's story ends).
Thanks manga jagi is my another favorite character n design
I love this character. He's probably what I would have become under even remotely similar circumstances. His reactions, as well as many of those of another tragic asshole/character --Anakin Skywalker -- are all ones I can relate to.
There's a line in System of a down Chop Suey that's fits this manga.
Father, why have you forsaken me?
Ha! That's a Biblical quote.
A manga that gave some love to Jagi
I remember reading this while still experiencing Fist for the first time before Jagi arc
I love shinichi hiromoto's art so much. It has such a underground comic feel and remind me of hiroyuki imaishi.
Hey, wasn't this and the Ryuuken gaiden where Jagi survived a freaking nuke?
Goddamn!
This manga, man... it's really the best out of all those side stories.
Great first choice btw :) *MANLY!*
This is my favorite story about the HNK gaiden series
