I have learned something from you that will make all the difference in the world for me! My style is different from yours and I am not going to try to be like you (I can't)., art comes from the heart and soul, and we are all different ~ hence the differences in what "we" (artist's) create. What I have learned is to have some "quiet" space in my art. I just love that concept ! ! ! Somewhere for the eye to travel where their is no noise. There is a parallel that I am fascinated with and it is that I also need to find a space to "rest" in my daily life. I am 71 y.o. and that concept JUST came to me via you! (You have made a difference in my total life ~ not only my much cherished art). Thanks, Betty I am the sole care~taker of my younger brother that has a neuro disorder. It's a constant upheaval. Thank goodness for my art (release) and RUclips! ;-) Paint on, you are an inspiration in many ways.
Wow, I'm so happy that you discovered that! I agree with you...as in our artwork, in life we also need time to rest. I love that parallel! I'm sorry about your brother. You are a wonderful sister to care for him. I'm sure you are challenged regularly. It's so good that you have art as an outlet. Sending you hugs!
Your work si very beautiffull, I like so much your Freedom for painting. I send You a Big Big and I hope You keep painting they way You do, My dear Betty❤
Thank you so much for sharing your process and your perspective on ASF. I joined a year ago and was excited to see that you also use the site. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on it and it does make me want to double down on all of their marketing tools and support. They really do a great job of that. Thank you again for sharing your artwork and process with us!
Hi Heather! It really comes down to doing the work. There's a lot of information and many directions to go. Just pick one and start there. Then add one at a time as you can. Baby steps. You got this!
Dear Betty, seeing you working makes me want to quit my job and run to my paints and canvas to be trully happy! Maybe I dare some day 🎨. I love your "Strawberry Fields" forever 😉
That is beautiful! I love the variety of colors you used. The abstract look gives it an energetic feeling. Thank you for sharing; I love to watch your videos.
This is gorgeous Betty. As always, I love watching you paint and the end result is definitely 'Strawberry Fields'. I see this is in your latest exhibition - hope it sells/has sold - that's one lucky person who will have it in their home. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent and generosity in your teaching. Cheers, Deb (NZ)
Hi Betty, I watch you from Kenya. I love your art and the way you put it all together. I am a painter and you inspire me with your freedom. I often paint with you ON in the background. Thank you for your generosity. Mary
I love these pinks reds and oranges. My art is also very colorful even though my style is very different. I too am learning about the quiet spaces, I love that.
Dear Betty, thank you for your answer. I could see this video now. I am happy to follow you painting this wonderful picture. It is so inspirering and I started to paint my own "garden full of flowers". Many regards from the black forrest in Germany
I've been watching you for years now and love observing your growth and progress. I learn so much every painting. Thank You! I use Nova paint and love it.
Hi Kathrine! Here's a video on how I fix my marks and varnish my artwork. This video shows how I varnish my art on paper, but I use the same process for canvas/wood. ruclips.net/video/KBg4GjajaPg/видео.html
When I see this art, we see the beauty of the artistic spirit that flies us to the world of imagination in all its colors and names. There is safety and joy, there is fear and anxiety as well, and hope shining from the sun of freedom prevents the restrictions of darkness from all obstacles and sends us whiffs on the wings of butterflies to tell us that you are very beautiful ...My greetings

Ha, I loved that circle, it was like a flower focal point and I found myself chanting, don't touch it, don't touch it! 😂 Beautiful, would love that art website, been having a lot of bogus buyers on others.
Glad you enjoyed the video!! Here's a link to Art Storefronts: bit.ly/3cwiFCI Email me at hello@bettyfranksart.com if you have any questions. Happy to help!
Hi, I've been watching for about a year and in this video your camera shot much more clearly and with sharper color than the camera you started with!! I like it much better!!

Hi! Looooove your art and watch you create. Video idea I would love to watch: 1. How to organize painting and business tasks, priorities, etc.? How Betty Franks do it...... and 2. In what order we should develop an art business. Example: develop a cohesive portfolio, branding, social media, etc. Right now I feel all over the place and something tells me I should focus in some things before moving to others (hope that makes sense). And thank you for sharing with us your thoughts!
Hi Femarie! Thank you for the suggestions. To help you with #2 right now, creating a strong body of work is a good priority, however, I would do it in conjunction with building up a social media following (if you plan to sell your art that way). Wishing you all the best!
Thanks so much! I used Crayola when I first was getting started. I believe you're referring to a student-grade product. When I first started out, I used my daughter's school pencils and crayons. Thanks so much for watching!
Riot of Summer. Love all your paintings Betty, this one is so fresh. I have a question about red. I use several reds but they all seem to ‘drop back’ or sink in and not stand out. to stop this I have had to put white down and cover that with red. Do you think it is the Nova Parole red which I can’t get here?
Lovely process Betty. Not sure if I have the right word you are looking for ( or if its the correct 'art' term ) but I like to think of it as 'quiet spaces' and a then using a bit of 'tension' to balance the composition. I also understand your take on when the 'problem' stage of the process appears. This happened to me this morning on a very big canvas (1.5m x 2.5m). It can be quite daunting. It's a real 'decision time' moment! It really is just the next step in the process, right? I said to myself, so where do you want to take this? And you have to be brave and take the leap and go for it. As always, thanks for sharing. :)
I love that direction you give yourself: the permission to go just about anywhere with the painting. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts with me!
Thank you so much Betty… I’m learning about art store fronts because of you. And very curious to find out if they work with other artists in Australia at present. if I go ahead and sign up, I’ll be sure to let them know it’s via your RUclips. Xx
Hi Denise! I don't know if they specifically have artists from Australia. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I know there are artists from all over the world using their services. Wishing you tons of success!
Betty, thank you for sharing soooooo much of your tips and tricks. Funny about the paint lids, I which them with a scraper too - for me that trick came from my mom who would use the back of a table knife to open any stuck jar. Why complicate things with vasoline or plastic. When you mentioned the not water, I thought you were going to say something about water shortages here in California - so many other things he to use my water
I use that same trick to open jars in the kitchen. Works every time! Yes, I should have mentioned the shortage of water, too. In our home, we have buckets in the bathrooms and kitchen to catch the cold water when we're waiting for it to warm up. Then I use those to water the garden.
Love it! Thank you, Betty! I wonder, if at about minute 37, the word you were thinking of was "tension." Visual tension...where everything is not quite right, not completely working together in a certain way. :)
Hi Jessica! That's a good word to describe it. I was actually looking for "wabi sabi". Where it's imperfect but perfect at the same time. Thanks so much for watching!!
You have a really interesting style. Your paintings also give me new ideas. For example, I wonder what it would be like if you continued working on this painting with much thicker blobs of paint for more surface texture. Or if you take a very small fragment of this painting as a starting point for a new larger work. Anyway, thank you and many blessings.
I love painting too. And yes, its an amazing fact about painting, endless possibilities!! That's why it's great that you've found your own unique style.
Hi Betty. So Art Storefront can bring your work to customers as they can print on demand. Where would you order different sizes to put in mats and sell at festivals? I need to start their. Thanks, Jojo
Hi Joys! I don't stretch my own canvas. I don't believe in doing something I'm not good at when I can be painting. But, that being said, I'm going to a workshop in October and will bring with me un-stretched canvas that I will have to stretch later!
Hi Tiffany! Learn more about Art Storefronts here: bit.ly/3cwiFCI Tell them I sent you! Feel free to message me at bettyfranksart@gmail.com if you have any questions about my experience with them. Thanks!
Hi Sherry! I used to use them when I was created mixed media artwork with collage, stencils, etc. I don't use them in my current art practice. Glad you're enjoying them! They're fun! (I just sent the same reply to your email.) Thanks!
Yet another good one. Just sent you a msg with my first attempt. I started painting landscapes n barns n such … I find abstracts are the hardest. “Walk in the Park”. The entrance is bottom left teal .
@@BettyFranksArt yes I got it. I didn’t know how to send it so I think I went thru your Facebook page msg. Not good at this tech stuff. I am about ten years too late lololo🌷🥀
Hi Betty! So inspired by your work... you mentioned in one video that you were using a size 12 or 10 brush, but is that a round, or flat, or... what kind? Inquiring (new painter) minds want to know! :D
Oh, good question! It was probably a flat...or filbert...or round. I like to use all varieties to make different marks. I recommend giving all of them a try and decide for yourself what you like best. It's different for each artist.
great work, love how you share it -but id be worried some copycat will set to ,churn em out and diminish your market.think id throw in a few red herrings!
My philosophy is that I do what I love and share it. I don't worry about who is going to copy me (because they have and continue to do so). I'm focused on my love of creating and sharing. That's where I put my energy in a positive way. Thanks for watching, Barry!
can you please let me now how you talk to your social media comments-I am having trouble thinking of things to say to my customers... I am in ASF also.
HI Arlene! That's always challenging! For the most part, I thank them for their comment. If they leave hearts, I'll respond with hearts. If they leave a comment, I'll respond with words most of the time. However, sometimes, I'll respond with emojis. I'm not sure if that was helpful. I know it's good to ask questions to keep the conversation going, but sometimes there just isn't enough said in the comment to ask a question.
I'm not sure i understand your question, Meredith. Do you mean what is it that I'm painting? I paint my love for fields of flowers. I hope that answered your question.
I can’t believe you use Art Store Fronts. They charge a ton of money, charge a ton for the site they build for you and then take a percentage of your sales!
Deciding on what website platform to use is always a personal choice. There are so many options out there. For me, I was ready to get serious about marketing me and my artwork. That's a service that no other platform offers. You can get a website anywhere and once you build it, they will NOT come. You have to do the marketing to get people to buy from you. I'm still super happy with using Art Storefronts!
Whimsical… maybe that was the word that you were trying to think of. Betty, this is one of my favorites. It,s beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your process. Oh and one of the handiest tricks I learned from you ~ lotion on hands to help with clean up 😊💜 No pun intended LOL
I'm so sorry to hear that, Christiane. It's mostly likely an issue on your end. Please try to reboot your computer and try it again. (Hopefully, Germany isn't banning my video!)

Love the title idea, Linda! Thank you! I hope I responded to your message. I don't know where you sent it.
@@BettyFranksArt yes I got it. I didn’t know how to send it so I think I went thru your Facebook page msg. Not good at this tech stuff. I am about ten years too late lololo🌷🥀
Tea Party or Croatia Kiss. Love it👌
Both are fun titles! Thanks, Brenda!
Thanks!
You're the best, Diane! THANK YOU so much for your donation!! 🥰
@@BettyFranksArt thanks! Will just have to _buy them all_ LOL

Hi, what brand are the little pots of paint.
Hi Jasmin! Those are Nova Color Paint: www.bettyfranksart.com/favorite-nova-color-paints
great work, love how you share it -but id be worried some copycat will set to ,churn em out and diminish your market.think id throw in a few red herrings!
My philosophy is that I do what I love and share it. I don't worry about who is going to copy me (because they have and continue to do so). I'm focused on my love of creating and sharing. That's where I put my energy in a positive way. Thanks for watching, Barry!
Hi Betty, this is Debbie Prince……. Name it Floral Beginnings…..since you finished this piece in your new art studio.
That's a nice suggestion for a title! Thanks, Debbie!
Love the bright, warm colors… have you decided on a name yet? 🌹
Thanks, Janaica! I haven't, but I have a list of contenders!
Hi Betty! I emailed you too. How do you varnish/finish your canvas pieces? Thank you! Julie Duffy
I just replied!
Here's a video on how I varnish my art on paper. I use the same process for canvas/wood.

Wabi sabi! Is that the term you were looking for to describe having something just a little "off?"
Yes! That's it! thanks, Jeanye!
what kind of crayons do you use?
I love using Neocolor II and Stabilo Woodys. Here's a link to my favorite art supplies: www.bettyfranksart.com/my-favorite-art-supplies
Summer stroll.
Nice title suggestion! Thank you, Shelby!

Thanks for sharing, Annette!
Strawberry Patch
Such a fun title! Thanks so much for watching, Emily!
Do you stretch your own canvas or do you buy them ?
I prefer to do what I do best...paint. I buy all my canvases stretched. However, I have stretched them before for special orders. Thanks for watching!
can you please let me now how you talk to your social media comments-I am having trouble thinking of things to say to my customers...
What was your theme
Floridascious
Fun title suggestion, Marg! Thank you!
" Alice au pays des merveilles" that's the title that i was thinking about... Je suis enchantée pas vos harmonies colorées...
That would be a fun title! I ended up calling it "strawberry fields". Thank you!
🙂
Thanks for watching, Elizabeth!
I need help. I cannot open the video. Regards to California from Germany.
I'm so sorry to hear that, Christiane. It's mostly likely an issue on your end. Please try to reboot your computer and try it again. (Hopefully, Germany isn't banning my video!)
The Picnic...

Lovely suggestion! Thank you, Louisa!
I see meat and fruit bowl on the table surrounded with strawberries and roses
I am also frequently reminded of strawberries when looking at Betty’s paintings.
Oh boy! There was no meat intentionally put into this painting! The art is all about my love for fields of flowers. Thanks for watching!
I love that! And, I also have a love for strawberries!
