Sometimes I would get to the bottom first and other times they would get to the bottom first.
My friend almost met Maradona for going so fast on the snowboard. Snowboarding is made for fun, not for going fast. As a former skier who switched to snowboarding I tell you that the feeling of speed and danger on a snowboard is practically double that on skis, the good thing is that it is directly proportional to the fun it produces.
I switched back to almost exclusively skiing after a few years of giving snowboarding a fair shot. I just love love love to go fast and skis are where it's at for speed. Nothing quite like blasting down a freshly prepared slope in the morning with up to ~120km/h (I know the pros hit up to 160km/h on some runs but there are still entire worlds of skill between them and me).
Had a 64 long board and a buddy of mine had some shorty skis. We would barrel down the slope and he'd leave me like I wasn't even moving. Very humbling

But have some Volkl racetigers, If I wanna allround and not just trying to get my record above 120 kmph, 116kmph is record sofar :D Also you want some boots with 130-140 flex atleast. I have some Technica mach 1's wih cas and 130 flex, they are amazing (for my feet)

I love watching the arms counter balance his weight while riding. Don’t know why but some people see that as flailing, and that they don’t know what they are doing. Yet that shit is a beautiful thing to watch and notice yourself doing.
As a skier who usually hits the slope with a snowboarder who has put in more total time and who is better at a lot of tricks and stuff, the only time it's actually a competition is on moguls where I'm not comfortable going super fast. If we're on a smooth run and I'm not worried about running into people he can't even touch me. Especially if I tuck since that's much harder to do on a board.
They used skis during World War 2. I've seen footage of them training to shoot while moving. Imagine zipping down a mountain that fast while shooting and doging bullets.

15 years ago, I snapped my MCL’s racing my skiing buddy while I was snowboarding at Heavenly Lake Tahoe down a chute. I learned the hard way that skiers are always much much faster, no matter what conditions. And yes I got a sled for learning that hard lesson. Went from an advanced black diamond, off piste snowboarder to a pseudo cripple with two pig tendons in me requiring me to take anti-rejection meds and pain killers. Don’t learn the hard way that I did…

My top speed on my board is 80. I can only get going about 75 on skis. Same run. I’m a bit better at boarding tho
