Ngl, i feel like nautilus should never win this if illaoi plays patient. My reasoning: 1. If she holds e, you can never q her unless you do so behind your minions. 2. If she starts w, she can fight you early because it's low cd (4s) max hp damage aa reset vs relatively high cd (12s) shield aa reset. Esp if she goes conqueror for better extended fights. 4. Illaoi is known for clunky spells That being said, she can use it to her advantage. Her using, e or q just before getting pulled by naut q essentially lowers how much the cc affect's her since she can't use anything while casting q/e anyways. If she q's while you q, then you are also right next to her leading back to point 1. 5. At level six its a bit of patience game. She can ult your ult knockup (I'm fairly certain she can ult while rooted, but not stunned) So the combo you performed (q, paa, r) would not be able to perma stun her and prevent her from using w after ult. I think if you q r so that she's never not stunned, she wont be able to ult - though again, she can ult your q pull as well and probably use e before your r lands, depending on how far away your q takes you. (e.g. 7:53 you aa before ult, she misplayed by going for the aa. Likewise, if she ults your q, you're similarly in a tougher spot) A few other notes. You can cancel illaoi range w with your q/r since it's a dash. If you do, tentacles won't attack and her w will go on cd. Might be some outplay potential there with timing/predicting illaoi w's while she's in ult and cancelling them with q/r. Itemwise, be careful with bramble/thorn for antiheal. If illaoi only aas the spirit, gw will not proc and she will get full healing. Don't think you bought bramble in lane, but just a note. Positioning wise, near the beginning you fought illaoi while she pulled spirit and was between 2 tentacles. I'm not entirely sure if you were in tentacle range while autoing illaoi, but if you were, then she misplayed by focusing the spirit. The echo damage would be less than her just using w on you, and since you were right next to the spirit, the tentacles would hit the spirit anyway, even if you dodged. Imo that was a misplay by both of you (provided tentacles were in range) Lastly if you don't get a lead pre-6, then she will shove you under tower post 6, clear wave quickly and fish for e's while you last hit. Since your combo is so telegraphed, if your jg ganks then she can probably get an easy e on you (if you go in with q) into ult. Assuming she's been set up for a little while, she'll likely have 2-3 tentacles already set up which can make for a very tough 2v1. (Also bear in mind for this fight point 5.) My general 2 cents and how I would theoretically play the match up as someone who like's playing illaoi. Granted, in an actual game it is a lot more chaotic and never set in stone - so anything can happen. I might also be wrong on some points, feel free to debate them.
